I was expecting him to turn over the flush to be honest. I can guarantee if I check a flushing flop it will hit on the turn every time!

Heads up is a funny old game though. you can win some huge pots with very random cards, its all about keeping the pressure on which i think you did perfectly

Classy :clown:

Jeff Lisandro = 183 K
Jeff Lisandro rivered a set with 8-8 to crack his opponent's 10-10. When the eight spiked on the river, Lisandro's opponent screamed, "F---!" and spilled his drink all over the table. Lisandro increased his stack to 183,000

Your mate going ok, Sam.
Right up there and equal chip count to Phil Ivey

oz_da II
17-01-2008, 07:13 AM
Speak of which...
Oooops

Phil Ivey Eliminated

Phil Ivey and Richard Teatum took a flop of {Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. Teatum led out for 6,000 and Ivey raised it up to 16,000. Teatum announced he was all in and Ivey made the call.

Ivey: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Teatum: {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

The turn and river came {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} giving no help to Ivey and the former Day 1 chip leader was eliminated from the 2008 Aussie Millions Main Event.

The Stars ranking is a bit bizarre - my stats for finishing position are good, my itm% is good but I can't find the big wins. I've been in good position in three big money tournaments the last few days and just got unlucky on crucial hands - it will come though. One win puts me into profit and that makes a huge difference in the rankings the way they work it out - together with my consistency of cashing, profitability would be enough to propel me into top 1000 on there I think

Actually I just checked on Pocket Fives to see where I stand when you take performance across all the sites together into account and I was a bit surprised to see 17th in the UK and it looks like that is before last night, although I dont think it was worth enough points to move me up. Still, it makes me think that I can't be doing too badly - I would like to get that Stars rank up

PS You sneak! I've been keeping subtlely quiet about the Stars ranking :D

The problem is I live in the BVI which is effectively blacklisted due to Anti Money Laundering regulations for a lot of things online.

There are only a couple of sites on the internet I can buy things from as many refuse the address and/or refuse to ship here.

I have an address in Florida where i can get things shipped to and am trying to get a card activated for that address to see if that helps.

The other thing I find happens goes something like this:

jim5432: raises 100
Annette 15 raises 300

Jim thinks "hmm..this situation reminds me of that chapter in Harrington"

beep beep beep....beep beep beep

Jim thinks "now the pots got 400 in it, no wait hang on a minute..."

BEEP BEEP BEEP....BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Jim thinks "445 in it, and its 200 to call, so that means..."

(sounds of cards folding) jim5432 has timed out.

How should you play this hand?

Blinds are 75/150 one caller in early position, I call with A7s in mid position folds round to BB who checks.

Flop is 5s Ad 4d, guy in early position raises 450 into pot of 675. What should my play be? I made a mistake I think in just calling, should I have gone over the top or folded? Should I be worried about his call in EP? Actually what am I doing calling with A7 in the first place!!

calling preflop with Ax suited is fine for no more than, say, 5% of your stack - so fine with that play.

BUT...you're playing for a big flop - 2 pair, flush draw/top pair etc. You're absolutely not playing to your Ace here so on that flop and a bet you're outta there!

reraise to see whether you are up against another A or a flush draw. If they have an A i expect them to likely shove in which case i would fold.

If they are on a flush draw then they have raised to see whether there is an A out there and are unlikely to call the reraise. By just calling you have given them the extra card they needed to make their flush.

I'm going to disagree with our Welsh champ here!

I don't think you have the chips to reraise/fold to shove post flop. Thats why I fold if I don't hit flop hard there. If you're not prepared to lay down top pair post flop when you're calling an early position player with Arag then you should just fold preflop

Finished 2nd for $345.00.

My AK lost to KQ when he hit a Jack on the river. However the amount of races I won and the luck I had compensates for that. Couldn't seem to loose, my 88 beat 99, my A3 beat A4,etc etc.... Could have been out in the 3rd hand when my pocket k's were all in on a J,7,Q flop, opponent hand JQ, turn and river both 10's!

Nice bit of profit off $5 but didn't get to bed till 3:45am! Bit knackered now. Was a bit gutted not to take it down.

Ahhh, sorry chap, well you did well on APAT the other day..

Just read this from Pokernews re. aussie Millions. Not being funny but I think I pass here as well after the 'significant pre-flop action', remember I'm a cash game player and not a tourny player but what do you guys who concentrate on tournies think?

Jirair Ebeyan Makes Incredible Laydown
After significant pre-flop action, Robert Holster pushed all in on a flop 10, 6, 4, 2 clubs for a total of 131,000. Jirair Ebeyan went into the tank to consider a decision that was virtually for his tournament life.

A crowd gathered around the table and eventually Ebeyan folded KK face up to the amazement of the whole table! Holster was the one in the most shock as he flashed AA and the table simply applauded an incredible fold! Ebeyan's astounding play may soon be worth AU$15,000 cash to him as Holster rakes in the chips, rueing the one that got away!

Difficult to tell what I would do if I was in the heat of the battle...but from the comfort of home I pass. I would have to consider that I am probably looking at QQ or AA, JJ as a long shot -- but if the shover has JJ/QQ surely he would be be thinking he is facing an over pair after preflop action and wouldnt dream of just shoving that flop and hoping for AK/99. He has to be expecting to be called and expecting to win

Haven't been down to the Rendezvous for a while, though doing ok in my monthly home game down in Brighton - about 700 up in 6 months!

Online horrific though, too much drunken cash saw me do my entire $500 bankroll on Ladbrokes, and am currently punishing myself by not playing online.

Any advice on best sites to deposit on? Fancy a change from Ladbrokes, and wondered which out of Party / Stars / FTP people would recommend?

In terms of Honeymoon venues, I haven't been to either of those but they were the final two we looked at - heading for The Shandrani in Mauritius on 19th of May!

FTP has a double your deposit bonus at the moment which is easy enough to complete. If you deposit at FTP let me know and I'll try to sort out rakeback for you as well.

Log in Id for that one is Timmagnus. Very original!

My online performance to be honest with isn't very good at all so quite worried over what notes you have got. Generally am winning enough to keep me going, but not getting a bank roll together!

Finished 14th at the Grovesnor last night, just outside the money. My pocket 10's got finshed by someone flopping trip 7's. Wasnt happy!

this isn't a bad beat story by any means to anyone annoyed i posted this in this forum, i just think this hand sums up the ups and downs of poker in a nutshell. Only just realised tht i was winning this on the turn, when this actually happened i thought the 6 on the river was the miracle saviour card for the boarded straight. Was a poor play i know but at the time i thought my re raise pre flop was enough to get him off a low pocket pair, but looking back i priced him in. Anyway here it is....

That hand you just showed STOG was a definite call from Apathy123, and im shocked Alcoholic4life thought he had fold equity with that river bluff. And correct me if I'm wrong but calling with AQ to that flop bet was slightly loose? i would have just folded in case blanks were most likely to hit on the turn and river. You are also calling that flop knowing tht if u do miss, the pot will probably get splashed. ahhh i suppose $700 isn't much to call with AQ in a $1000? what you think STOG?

And btw how is the rake only $1???

Stog - Betfair now has re sizable tables and multing is very easy. The remaining issues with the software as I can see it are:

1. You have to enter each table to put your self on the waiting list rather than do it in bulk.
2. The 'pre action' buttons i.e. you click fold before you go and it folds you away etc etc are still over the action buttons when they appear. So for example you could go to click auto fold and if everyone in front of you folds really quickly and your buttons change to action buttons then you could accidentally press call - very annoying.
3. Only average about 3000 players online.

Apathy didn't call $700, he BET $700 and alcohol4life called! It's not an easy call for Apathy if we AREN'T talking about pot odds etc. 89s is definitely in the range here imo!

Have had the same phone call, you are a valued customer who plays at high stakes (0.50/$1 lol), and we have a great tournament tonight with only $525 buy in. Site looks a bit fresher. If you want to play cash ok, but selection of tournaments still poor, though they do have more higher stakes tourneys, regular 100K, unfortunately buy in tends to be 200-500$ mark.

Most of these don't seem to work, have harrington vol 2 & workbook, wouldn't mind vol. 1, and the slanksky, not too fussed about the others. First bruson one works but not the 2nd, guess the 2nd is a rehash of the first (which is 648 pages anyway), so plenty to get on with.
