Why no flop bet? Why only $0.80 on the turn? Bit more probably doesn't give him any kind of odds to call.

I agree, I think the only criticisms are you could have bet the flop (even small) as there are two others in the pot and then increased the turn bet but even then it may not have made a difference. I may have also been suspiscious of him having trips as with no danger of a flush draw or obvious straight possibility he could have just flat called trips on the turn. Overall though I think it's just one of those losing hands where someone sucks out you have to take on the chin and overcome in the long run :)

2M2M finished this evening and it was an entertaining watch. i believe you can get it on Itunes. Hopefully they will make another series.
Anyone been watching the WSOP main event coverage. Only a couple of weeks to go. Im really starting to warm to Darvin Moon, the guy ran seriously hot but just came across as some hick from the middle of nowhere. He has had some classic lines so far.

Was thinking about a check raise, as was bet 7 x BB pre flop, someone is probably always going to play a weaker ace there, but obviously got no information as it got checked all around

Lost 3 buy ins recently AA vs 33, AA vs 10 10, and QQ vs 33, all hitting a set on the flop. The first AA vs 33 raised from early position, got a caller and he hit a set on the flop, wasn't a bad flop for AA and the money went in, that happens.
The second QQ vs 33, I raised 15 x BB and he called, he then told me it was +EV to call that as he stacks me of if he hits, I can't see that if your set is 8.5 to 1 and the fact that you are not going to stack off every time you hit how that can possibly be +EV.
On the AA vs 10 10, in late position, early position raises to 4 x BB, player before me re-raises to 11 x BB, I reraise to 24 x BB, he stacks me off when his set hits. He then tells me I gave him value to call, I said no, I have raised pre flop to 24 x BB, he has a further 13 x BB to call, which doesn't give him his 8.5/1 odds to call, said I should reraise much higher. What hand does 10 10 think it is dominating with a reraise to 24 x BB after a previous raise. He has to know 10 10 is dominated? Where is the value.

Meh, ballsed up the explanation of what i would have done. Will repost tomorrow.
Passive player fold having had him raise from EP and you just calling, aggressive, opening lots of pots just shove
PoolKing
29-10-2009, 10:14 AM
I would have folded on the turn taking all things into consideration. I would think I was behind there and have only invested 9000 chips in the pot and would try to pick a better time with my remaining 25k stack to push all-in. You would be the table short stack but given the blinds you've got time to work with and should be able to pick a better spot.
Only way I would have played the hand different is given your call to the raise preflop and hitting top pair on a flush board I would have probably raised the opponent when he bets the flop.

Have completed my challenge, turning $50 into $500 (currently $526), achieved with bankroll management, having 25 buy ins at each level, playing 6 handed tables (multitabling 4 at a time), with no rakeback, taking just over 3 months, with an average play time per day of 2 hours.
Starting off at 0.01/0.02, complications were only bringing in $2 to a $5 table, and when getting up to 0.02/0.05, only having $4 on a $10 table, challenge completed on 0.05/0.10, took a month to get to 0.05/0.10, but variance was so bad on 0.05/0.10, thought I would be stuck on it forever, but ground up to the target.
New goal to get to $600, then find the best bonus/rakeback deal. Had an email a little while ago for Full Tilt, $600 deposit, $600 playthrough bonus (wouldn't be a problem to acheive), 27% rakeback, and some poker tracking software (not one I had heard of). Any deposit, rakeback deals better than this (providing this one is still available of course).

Most annoying bust out of a tourny tonight, $55 buy in NL Speed, paid top 20, 160 players.....my KJ (all in pre flop 30k chips, 6000/12000 blinds) got busted by KQ shove pre flop..... that meant I finished ...... 21!!!!! argh
The player who knocked me out went on to finish 4th and win $600 :(

Now up to $576, up $50 on one days play at 0.10/0.25. Getting paid off on sets and value river bets more at this level.

What's your bankroll? You need $2750 to be playing $55 tourneys. Did you shove first?

It's impossible to be a winning poker player without bankroll management, you should only be playing with 2% of your bankroll at a time for tournament play, also playing a turbo is just pure gambling, not too sure I'd want to do that for $55 but there you go.
Standard play, you only have a drawing hand. You're 60% on the flop which isn't a massive advantage.

I don't know for definite, but I'd guess Steve's just taking a shot, not playing with a bankroll but more or less just for fun. His money management is fine, don't worry about him. :)

I think the fact that he hasn't played since is a big advantage for him, it makes other players unable to get a read off him. Apparently he was running good all tournament, but you don't just get to 57 million chips by just being lucky. Ivey and Arkenhead are going to have to gamble early on.
The only thing Ivey is playing for is to win, he has no interest in the prize money, so if he was to double up at some stage, it would be very interesting.

am i not being aggressive enough or something to overcome that final hurdle....??

Ugly. All that time winning that yesterday, half an hour play before work and two buy ins down, reraised significantly with QQ, 3 way callers, shove a flush flop to protect my hand and run into 999, on other table same with AA to run into 555. Mould.

Must have lost on them pre-flop all in about 10 times in last month
the latest to AQ flush, he shoved first all in, just had my 32k chips covered.... this was deep into a tourny, Im so pissed off. Im going to fold everytime i get Jacks now

There is two ways to play JJ, all in pre flop and hope they hold up, obviously must take into account what villain plays. Or treat them as a weak pair (which is what they are) and look to get a set with them, there isn't a great board for them, even a low board, you may be running into QQ - AA, sets, draws and flushes. I'd never flat call them, always looking to raise.

Taking some brutal beats tonight, couldn't believe that after flopping full house with Q10 on QQ10 board, that I'd get action and got all in, and woke up to see QK, only for K to come on the river. And I don't actually know what the odds on the flop are to finish last out of 3 in this hand.

Why is it my jacks never stand up but when I come up against them they can crack pocket pocket Aces?! Deep into a $9 rebuy 10k tourny (I didnt rebuy once!) 50k in chips, goin along nicely in about 20th, 140 left out of 600.... 2.5 hours in. Raise pre-flop, one caller, flop comes J,8,4, raise 10k, get called, turn is 2... go all in... he shows pocket Jacks..... happened to have me covered too...... pissed off big time..... was hoping for a big cash

Whats the right move here...
I am on 0.10/0.25 table, have got up to $80, 3 x buy in, get QQ raise to 4 x BB, get shoved all in from a stack that has $58, he hasn't played a hand against me and haven't seen him have much action.
Look briefly at hand history, seems to be shoving with really marginal hands, I folded as I don't think pushing QQ for 240 BB is + EV.
Later on he shoves K4 all in into AA on a missed flop (as a bluff), and goes all in pre flop AJ vs AK, so is my fold of QQ the right move considering I hadn't seen these hands, and would it be the right move if I had known he was a lunatic.

Played with them a while and seen them raise/call/check rubbish.
Admittedly didnt fancy the all in pre flop but took a while to call.
Losing to an A or a K i dont care but when you make a good call and the flop come like that. Meh, done when the roll finishes
Wow what gibberish ^

You're really in a coinflip situation there with AK, not too sure it is greatly +EV, possibly 52/48%. I don't mind shoving all in pre flop with AK but is always player dependent, especially as an A appears on 85% of all boards.

Screwed up in two tournaments, 50th out of 1000, got to 30K, never got cards or could hit flops and all in QQ < K6
Got up to 80K in omaha tourney was 13/27 when getting AA37 with diamond flush draw, unfortunately had limpers so could only raise to 20K, one caller flop came A34, other guy bet about 15K into the pot, put him all in, then realised when I did it he probably had wheel, he had called with 2456 pre flop and couldn't pair the board, still had 50K behind, don't know why I shoved there, only mistake of tournament, and only collected $14

Why not pay £30 for a Vodafone USB internet dongle, only requires topping up every 6 month and once bought if you didn't need it for a year you could top it up when required and avoid the above. If you do do it then make sure you unlock parental controls (costs a £1 on your credit card fleecing b*stards) as that is a hassle and takes time (as I found out at a breeders cup night round my mates house!!)

You finished the tournament in 5th place. A USD 120.75 award has been credited to your Real Money account.
Got up to 120K and was chip leader, then shipped 70K without ever completing a hand, kept getting outdrawn on everything, go back up to 80K and had QK in the small blind in limit hold em, blinds were 2.5/5K, got reraised to 20K so folded and of course 9 10 J rainbow, they both went all in with AJ and J7, would have trebled up, although it probably was the right fold.
Survived for a bit, the lost in razz had A3567 with two cards left, blinds so big none of the games are really limit and he runner runnered 45 last two cards to get 23456, so cruel.

Dont worry Saul you could be Isuldur1
The life of a high stakes poker player is nothing if not interesting. Win a fortune one day, lose it the next. For Isildur1 these past few weeks has certainly been a rollercoaster the like of which we have never seen before. And yesterday he again made some kind of history, losing a total of 5.3 million dollars to a wide range of players.
When there is blood in the water, the sharks show up in great numbers, and this was certainly the case during this period. The table to the right shows everyone who took on Isildur1, as well as their results against him. The usual suspects reign at the top of the list, but there was enough to go around for some of the others as well.
In total, Isildur1 has lost about $1.3M over the last six weeks, and when you consider that durrrr hast lost about five million dollars to him, you could say that the main thing that Isildur1 has done is to spread durrrr’s money around to the other players. The main beneficiary has been Phil Ivey, who won $2.7M, followed by Ziigmund and Patrik Antonius with $1.9M each, while Brian Townsend was also able to get away with a $1.7M win.
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/830/isildurtotalsmall.jpg (http://img268.imageshack.us/i/isildurtotalsmall.jpg/)
Isildur1 has played well over 130 000 hands in this period, so his total losses are well within the expected variance, but seeing the way he tanked over the last few days you have to think that there was some element of tilt involved. There will obviously be speculations as to whether he is bust or not a this point, and without giving an opinion on this, I will just say that his accumulated results now are only $100K better than at his low point in the beginning of November. And this only two and a half weeks after he reached the $6M plateau. The graph shows his accumulated winnings since October 23rd, when he first turned up at these stakes. It is a tale of peaks and valleys, so let’s hope for his sake that he is be able to make another comeback.

No good tonight, got knocked out of the HORSE relatively early, ended up in a big 3 way pot stud h/l with the low only for a rivered lower pot, then had the nut low omaha hand, but an ace on the river 3 outered a lower out and made the high for opponent.
6 handed NLHE, never got above average stack, had two chances to double up, had A5 all in vs 5 10 flop came a23 turn blank river 4 for split, then two hands later, got all in jk vs j9, 9 on river for minimum cash. About $32 up on cash tables though, fairly average.

Deep into a 10k gtd .... just on bubble.... down to 14k in chips.... get dealt pocket Aces, limp in... chip leader raises to 6k, he gets a caller, I shove all in, chip leader shoves all in, forces 3rd guy to fold.... he shows pocket 10's, flop comes 7,8,10...... urgh, turn 3, river 9......
if id have won that pot id have been up to about 5th in chips
sick
he did say sorry as I left the table

I wanted to, as i wanted someone to raise it up, and he, hte chip leader, had been raising out of position before every flop, and I knew he would again....I played the hand correctley and he would have called the 14k all in anyways had I shoved or raised

Yes, you are more than likely to get a call with 10 10, but why do you want to risk playing 3 handed, against 10 10 you are 80%, against two hands you go down to about 62%.

In total, Isildur1 has lost about $1.3M over the last six weeks
Isildur1 has played well over 130 000 hands in this period
Any idea what amount of rakeback Isildur1 would have got, at thos stakes and that number of hands he will recover a fair amount?

Horriffic carnage it my tourneys, in the 6 handed got up to 10K pretty early, volatile table blinds had been 75/150 and got AQ raised up to 6 times BB, everybody calls, flop blanks out and there is some big betting so I give up, ends up 7K pot and A8 beats A7 with nothing on the board. So when I get QQ I raise up to 7 x bb, get reraised behind, flop comes 7 high, considering what I have just seen, I check raise all in and he shows KK and I go out.
In the HORSE I am on stud high low and on 5th street have full house, only one other person in play so a raising war starts he has 55 up, on show down my full house is crushed by quad 5s.
Get back up to 1K, goes to limit HE pick up QK, raise to 200 pre flop, one caller Q comes on flop, the board pairs on turn he reraises by 200 bet, 10 comes on the river he bets 200 again, I call and he has Q10 for rivered two pair (3 outer).
Gash.

Brian Hastings - 2016 hands - $3,388,190
$1680 per hand, 84ptBB/100
Vs Isildur so far.
The action at the moment is insane. Isildur built up from 60k to 1.4m a couple of days ago. Has already and a +$1m t0-$1m swing to brian townsend today and is now bleeding money hopelessly.
Probably the most garbled post i have written but hopefully you catch the drift

Just so there's no confusion I am taking the standing pieces off the table, I don't remember if it was supposed to be for all 500/1k or just for vs Gus but anyway my situation has changed a lot in the past 6 months and I wish to end with the standing pieces because of that. Sorry I lost you a bit of $ and thanks for understanding, I'll try to get in touch with all of you individually too although I don't have everyone's email"

I looked into this a year ago and got this back from them by email, don't play a great deal but figured it did no harm asking
Dear Simon,
Thank you for your e-mail.
For a user to be placed on a rake back deal, he/ she must reach the minimum average rake per month target of £100. Of course, the more rake you generate the better the percentage.
Please find below the rake back structure that needs to be raked monthly:
- £100 - £300 = 20%
- £300 - £1000 = 25%
- £1000 - £2000 = 30%
- >£2000 = VIP Structure
I have run a report on account: ******** and unfortunately, you do not qualify for a rakeback deal as of yet as you have not met the minimum of £100 required form October till today. Your rake for the past three months is in fact as follows:
October 08 £39
November 08 £13
December 08 £14
In this case, we kindly ask you to contact us within 3 months time if you feel that your poker play has increased sufficiently so we can review the poker play at that time and will be more than happy to offer you a rakeback deal accordingly.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.
Kind regards,

Cheers Fin, will look into it, i used to play an awful lot but havent done for a good year. Started again the last month or so on smallish tables but play enough that (should i continue!) I would break the £100 limit. Suppose like you say there is no harm in asking!

If you were to play 0.10/0.25 4 handed for two hours a day, at 27%, that should give you a rakeback of $340.

Ended up being a bit unlucky had about 600000K, with blinds 10K/20K, picked up K10 in position, raised to 60K, got looked up by chip leader who called with 79 flop came K72, bet out he flat called, he hit another 7 on turn and min raised me on river where I was pot committed and had to call.
Got 22 next hand, pushed all in and obviously got looked up, found A9, two hearts on flop, turn blank, river flush card and went out.

The first hand, think the turn is great for you here, he's counterfieted with A4, and only a 7 can beat you here or trip Aces, I'd raise here, strangely the river is worse as he could be holding AQ.
The second hand - why do you play so many marginally poor hands?

Would hardly call open raising T9s on the button in 6 max marginally poor.
First hand looks fine to me...and I would probably be calling a shove on the turn cos a lot of people are bluffing, especially with underpairs like his, when the board pairs.
Second hand I'm raising the flop every time here

ugly day of cash 6 x $25 buy ins down. Horrific big hand have 10 10 flop comes 9 10 J (2 flush cards), he bets out, I shove all in he shows AQ to the flush, two flush cards turn and river.
And to sum it all up have 910 in small pot flop comes 952, no action, turn 9, he bets I reraise, he goes all in, I call if he has a better kicker its a cooler, he shows 9 8, river 8.

Problem is, and I know with 6 handed there are more cards to draw from, but an A tends to hit the board probably 80-85 times out of a hundred.
Picked up QQ reraised 16 x bb to two 3 x bb raisers, flop JK2, everybody checks round, A hits turn, all check, blank river, one of them bets out half the pot, easy fold, both show aces, A10 and AQ, so one of the two aces left in the pack hits the board again.
Really affects the way to play QQ KK. AA is now the only hand I will 4 bet with, I will flat QQ KK then check raise if the A has missed, as it's no value to raise with it (unless for sure I can tell villains range).

do you honestly expect him to fold that flop? I'd be shoving all day long.
what are the percentages at the flop?
saul1664
26-12-2009, 01:06 AM
set against flush draw is 73%, probably less with the 10. With his bet if he is reraised he is obviously behind.
saul1664
26-12-2009, 01:08 AM
Not much more. 71% flop.
Gav The Hamster
26-12-2009, 01:11 AM
yes but I would expect to be behind but drawing to the flush, 2 pair and trips meaning lots of possible outs.
I'd most likely put you on JJ to AA and shove every time.
It's not a shocking beat by any means.

Argh
deep into a 10k gtd, 100 left out of 500, paid to 60 places
get dealt pocket Jacks, 45k in chips
blinds 600/1200
Guy in front of me raises out of pos to 6k, think about it for about a minute and flat call, no other callers, flop comes 10 J 8, so im dominating him right now.... he shoves rest of his chips, about 44k, so i call, all In. He shows pocket Queens, so im sitting pretty.... until the turn when a Queen hits the board, river was an Ace, amazing, so ******* pissed off....... was flying along nicely and was certain id make final table as was playing real well sitting in about 20th place, so annoyed

standard play. Both thought you were winning, you'll win more of them than you lose, just unlucky.
I've been playing a fair bit again recently on betfair, Saul do you not frequent there anymore? Started on a 30% rakeback deal so will be interesting to see how much or little that brings in when i am generally 2 tabling .25/.50.
what happened to the regulars on here?

Well, I got my first week of rakeback - starting from 01/01/2010 I have picked up £20.88 from 2 tabling .25/.50 which I thought was pretty good!!
I have been playing a fair bit this week but it'll be nice to pick up £20-30 a month for simply playing and given that betfair is pretty soft at these levels, tops up my profits nicely!

07-01-2010, 12:39 PM
That's pretty good for basically just doing what you would do anyway, how many hours play does that represent?
Don't forget your in the Betting Masters Champion's League thing!!

I wont forget Fin, I'll stick up a lucky 15 in the next couple of days.
From memory I reckon its 2/3 hours a night for the last 5/6 days, but I've been playing pretty tight so I havent been in a huge number of pots.
In addition Betfair are given you free money should you accumulate points so I've picked up $20 plus £20.88 plus my poker profits for playing.
If you still play on betfair and want rakeback send them an email saying (politely) that new players can have rakeback, but existing customers cant which was the impression I was under. They swiftly responded offering 30% though me saying I was tempted to go elsewhere if they didnt give it to me may have had an impact :p

Hardley ever play on line these days and when I do it's only multi table comps, if that ever changes (and it probably will!!) then I'll certainly be getting in tough with them, think their 30% offer is the best around from memory :p

what sites do you play on Patch?
This thread has died a slow death in recent months and only a select few post on here anymore! I'd be up for a BBS private table, but I think it'd be difficult to get a sufficient number of players to make it worthwhile

Yeah, just annoying. No, I am planning to defect to Full Tilt when I have reached 25,000 points on PS and get rakeback there. I play 6 tables at once so should expect 400-700 rakeback a month.
Was playing PLO and hit the nut straight on the turn, guy bet the pot, he didn't have a lot behind, there was a flush draw out there so put him all in, he calls with a set and flush draw, he hits his flush then starts calling me a fish and then another player starts going on, what was he expecting me to do, fold the nuts with one card to come, I know he has flush draw, the set gives him more outs, lost a buy in there but still doubled through. What a tool.

Juat made final table of a 10k gtd
3rd in chips
Blinds 8k/4k
Im big blind get dealt Pocket kings... chip leader raises it to 16k before me, I raise to 40k, he thinks for 20 seconds and calls me, flop comes As,Kh,8c.... I bet 16k as i think im well in front and want action..... he re-raises to 70k, obv has an Ace, so i shove all in, he calls, shows AQ hearts, Turn is heart, River is... yes you guessed it 2 of hearts, sick, just sick..... out in 10th and $200 cash but just so so sick.... I was really going well :(
$2.8k to winner :(

Unlucky. Unless he thinks you are a bad player, his reraise is terrible there, you've represented a big hand pre flop, and AQ would be well behind your range.

First one would raise more pre flop and post flop but doesnt look like he is getting away from the hand whatever you do. Thats obv unlucky ;)
Second one is standard all in pre flop jobby and again just unlucky, nothing would have changed that hand.
Third one, you played it strong pre and post flop and looks like you lost the momentum calling on the turn when if you raise again, he cant possibly call with all those overcards. If you're calling then you're basically saying he doesnt have any pair and therefore you raise and he folds.
Its easy to talk a good game i know, if i was in your situations, the first 2 i wouldnt have played particularly different, the third one I wouldnt be getting that attached to 99. Once you called both the turn and the river did you honestly expect to be beating what he had? Granted you wouldnt put him on 555 but even so I would expect to be comfortably beat by an A or K
