View Full Version : Jordan's maths?

I was never very good at maths beyond "O" levels, so perhaps someone can tell how Jordan comes up with his figure of 3 million already spent before the Latvian and Beattie bids? I've got 1 million for Gray and Black, 750,000 for Pollock, and 200,000 for Harrison (total 1.95 million). Am I missing something or someone?

I wasn't good at Maths even before O-levels but I just assumed that he'd factored in some signing on fees that we haven't heard about and then added a dash of bull**** for good measure?

What's your point Nobby? Why don't you just put your full analysis of our beloved new owner and be done with it?

Lets say an early new term report.

More of a question than a point, at this juncture.

Awaiting enlightenment...

Maybe he added the potential fees for Gray and Black, the extra 'mill'.

BIG LETTER!

The £3m is Ruddock's wages. He has clearly forgotten that he bought any other players.

Perhaps the extra amount included signing on fees etc etc.Does it really matter whether the figure is £2 Mill or £3 Mill - What on heaven's name is all the fuss about ?
What really matters is that thanks to Mr Jordan we are now in a position to pay money for players, a situation which was not possible last year.

I'm as delighted as anyone that we're buying anybody at all. I'm just wondering if I'd missed something. I wouldn't suggest for a minute that our new chairman was prone to telling the odd porky or exhibiting gross exaggeration. We'll leave those attributes to a former chairman.

Questions, questions. Merely asking questions...

I think what Nobby is saying is that we need to be sure that everything stacks up after these last couple of years.

Maybe the missing money is the barrelage on the reduced beer?

It's been said that Ruddocks contract is worth 1 million over 3 years. As you suggest, perhaps he's including this figure to make his expenditure look more impressive.

I think Jordan has included signing fees & wages in the figure. Which is better than a previous individual who paid the fee & appeared to think that was the final cost.

You all seem to be forgetting that Ruddock was not signed on a free. It was an undisclosed fee. It WAS meant to be nominal, but you never know.

As for giving Nobby grief, back off! After all the total SH*TE that Goldberg came out with I think the very least we can be doing is paying attention to what is happening/said.

All I hear at the moment is 'Jordan is great - he saved us - we love him - let's follow him blindly and stupidly'.

This is pretty much the same as what was said when Goldberg took over: 'Noades is gone - Goldberg is a fan - we hate Noades - Goldberg is a fan - Goldberg is a fan - we love Goldberg - we all follow the Goldberg over land and sea - Goldberg is a fan'.

I won't dis Jordan, but I certainly won't sit back and think all he touches will turn to gold. Nobby asked a question, nothing more nothing less.

Maybe he didn't say it and the press just made it up because they were short for news after the premiership didn't play at the weekend.

Chill Burr i think all that Nobby was saying/asking NOT IMPLYING was whether or not he had missed another signing or something else merely asking for yours and my point or view!!! We're all friends here so take a deep breathe and just chill!!

Agreed Burr.

I respect Jordan for saving our club - but I have to say that everytime he gives an interview he comes across as more of a k**b than the last one !

I have nothing personally against him and I believe that generally he has the right vision AND is on track.

BUT he must stop promising things he isn't necessarily delivering and also has to stop contradicting himself all the time.

"The fans don't want to see me" (Sky Sports)
"I will be a highly visible chairman on matchdays" (Palace Programme)

As one example amongst many. He continually says his actions will speak louder than words - but exactly the opposite has been the case so far as I pointed out to him.

We are behind you Mr Jordan - but please bear in mind what we have had to put up with before and THINK before you speak and make promises.

Action things and then tell us after you've done it.

PS - no sponsorship on a player's shirt for TWO games in a row (Richard Harris at WBA and Cardiff) does not send out a very professional image to either your fans or your sponsors.

As he says the fans don't want to see him but he will be visible on matchdays. What's wrong with that. It's a chance for the fans to have a chat with him and let him know what you feel.
Also, on Richard Harris and the sponsorship logo on his shirt, i don't think this is down to Jordan and if it's just Harris then maybe it's his decision and it was probably the kit they had at West Brom which Harris didn't have it on either.

Yep - spot on Mr Russell.

What I don't understand though is how a man blessed with such insight cannot spot the difference between Sharpling and Hunt?

Grr .... I hate you guys http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I still don't see why after three days that someone couldn't have IRONED on a sponsorship onto Harris' shirt !!?

I think the "the fans don't want to see me" was in the context of "the fans don't want to seem me on the pitch on the first game of the season / parading around having pictures taken waving a scarf" etc (not a direct quote but you get my drift)

it is poor that Harris hasn't had his sponsor on the shirt (maybe he has something against Churchill!!) maybe there were only so many printed with the sponsors on.. but why didn't Harris get one.. is there more to this than meets the eye - or just an oversight..

arussell

I don't know how on earth only "so many" could be printed or used as an excuse. They're supposed to be the club's sponsor - it's supposed to go on ALL the shirts !!

Simple fact of the matter though is that you still can't buy a shirt with the new sponsorship on, not that I would want to with the tacky way they have done it.

The "iron on banner" style they are using suggests one of two things - that either Churchill's sponsorship will only be very short term (ie: end of season) or that the kit will be changing very soon to Le Coq Sportif as has been mentioned.

And for heaven's sake - if Harris does play this weekend - sort his shirt out ... if it's REALLY that much of a hassle I'll come round and iron it on myself ! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif
