Cecil's ran well, came in second, pretty decent performance by the Godolphin horse.

Wish I'd taken Embassy's tip but Suroor's horses seem to have two ways of running and I've become fed up with trying predict which it will be on any given day.

It's funny, Stoute and Cecil used to be unstoppable, yet it's impossible to back their horses now because you have no idea how they are going to run.

It's horrible tomorrow, the American horse that beat Jealous Again and the one they think has the best chance of victory out of all their horses, Aegean, runs in the first, he's not favourite here, and has to cope with 22 runners here, and as seen today, the American horses are speed bred and don't seem to be comfortable with the whip, would think it would be very difficult to dominate in this race. The other races on the card look horrible and very hard to find winners.

My best bet for Friday is Elusive Wave in the 3.45

Also like Aegean in the opener
free Agent in the 3.05
Indian days in the 4.20 at quite juicy odds
no bet in the 2 miler
and 2 for the last... Harrison George and Horatio Carter, both at big odds

Didn't understand all the talk amongst the so called experts of going against Ghannati today - you can't slag Classic form, feckin' eejuts.

One of the easiest systems to make money from racing every single year, is to back the 1000 guineas winner, 2000 guineas winner, derby winner and oaks winner in their next two outings regardless of opposition. Maximum of 8 bets a year, will guarantee you a profit year after year as high class form is virtually unbeatable. You won't make loads but it's quite a good system if you hardly ever bet.

Has produced two bets this year

Sea the Stars WON 9/4
Ghalhab WON 2/1

From tomorrow, anyone who uses the Racing Post website and wishes to access anything more than the most basic of information, will have to pay a monthly subscription.

I'll be paying (assuming it's a modest amount - not specifically announced yet) but I wonder how many people will stop using the website rather than pay.

What will those on here be doing?

I wouldn't follow any newspaper tipsters, Gooders. In fact, having successfully laid an odds on chance last night that had more naps than anything running yesterday, it's just as well I ignore them ;)

The main benefit of Racing Post to me is the quality of their race readers when summarising a race, who are vastly better than those at Sporting Life (or At The Races) where they often make errors about how a particular horse has run. Racing Post also has some excellent analysis after each race. So to me, it would be well worth £7-50 (if that turns out to be the monthly price) to access that.

But I suspect many will resent paying for info they previously obtained for free and not sign up. It will be interesting to see.

As for finishing time it was a long time ago but remember it being relatively short, an hour or so after last race maybe? Remember us speculating that they may not have had a licence to go on too late. Also think the bars stopped selling booze after last race but that may not be such an issue for you

  Your prayers have been answered guys

Hayley Turner will be back in the saddle at Ascot on Friday after being cleared to return to race-riding.

The leading lady rider was given the go-ahead following a hearing of the British Horseracing Authority medical review panel on Thursday evening at Shaftesbury Avenue.

Turner had been facing a year on the sidelines after sustaining head injuries in a fall on the gallops on March 3.

She was fired into the ground and knocked unconscious after the Phil McEntee-trained Old Sarum broke a leg on the Newmarket gallops.

A subsequent scan showed Turner had suffered some bruising inside her skull and the BHA's chief medical advisor, Dr Michael Turner, recommended that she be stood down for 12 months.

After initially being told not to reapply for a licence until March 2010, Turner decided to contest that decision and will now be allowed back into the riding ranks.

"Following a hearing of the medical review panel, having heard the latest medical reports, they have recommended that Hayley Turner be granted a licence," confirmed BHA spokesman Paul Struthers.

"Therefore Hayley Turner will free to ride from tomorrow."

Turner, the first woman to ride 100 winners in a calendar year in Britain, was understandably delighted and keen to express her gratitude to her many supporters.

She said: "I am obviously over the moon with today's decision and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me over the last few months, especially Dr Kirkpatrick and the other doctors and Justin Wadham.

"I would also like to thank my mother for putting up with all my moods for the last few months.

"I am so looking forward to tomorrow and riding for Michael Bell, who has been so supportive."

Turner is set to ride Prompter and Great Charm for boss Bell at the Berkshire venue.

The trainer said: "I'm very happy with the news. It's been so frustrating for Hayley as we have had the neurosurgeons' reports recommending that she is fit to ride for three weeks, but she has just been waiting for an appeal date.

"It's been frustrating to have to sit and wait but we're delighted with this evening's decision.

"She's going to ride two at Ascot tomorrow and she's very excited to be back where she belongs. Hopefully now it will be onwards and upwards."

Turner missed the ride aboard Bell's Golden Jubilee Stakes winner Art Connoisseur at the Royal meeting and despite that colt contesting the Darley July Cup tomorrow, all concerned thought it better to opt for a lower-key return.

Bell added: "There was a temptation to let Hayley ride, but we all thought that wouldn't be fair to Hayley or Jamie (Spencer) who is booked for the ride and is one of our jockeys too."

I do have to put myself through it. Have 2 little girls (sister and friend) who are looking forward to it along with my sister's friend's older sister who also wants to see it.

They are bribed to come racing by watching the Saturdays and Alesha Dixon.

Thanks for the advice on getting there.

I normally just walk straight through the track and onto the hill dodging stewards, but wearing my decent trainers means that won't be happening

Great stuff last night.

Saw the last 4 races, and saw a lightning storm come rolling across from the west and it absolutely hammered it down.

Great Night though, even though i'm not the biggest fan of the Saturdays (though their outfits were hot) and don't like Alesha Dixon, I found myself singing along with everything even in the rain. Though I had my sister on my neck, so my head was dry but my jeans and trainers were ruined.

Will definitely go to another one of these.

And to prove i've now caught the concert/racing bug.

I'm putting off my holiday with my family for a few days and going down to Sandown for the Pussycat Dolls on the 29th July.

Supposed to be jumping in a motorhome for 3/4 weeks, so will put it off for 6 days, fly down and catch them up. All in the name of seeing a raunchy show from the Pussycat Dolls.

(I'd like to win some money at some point as well)

I bet on 4 races and got a 3rd in the 3rd race (first we saw) and a 2nd in the final race out of the 4 we saw. Unfortunately Aurora Sky beaten by a head after leading all the way down the home straight. As soon as it went past us at the 1/2 furlong point, I knew it was done. Stupid horse.

Ah well, always next time, I guess.

Dunguib fails banned substance test
Tuesday, 21 July 2009 09:51

Cheltenham and Punchestown bumper winner Dunguib has tested positive for a banned substance.

The postive test was returned after the horses' win at the Paddy Power Champion Bumper at Punchestown in April.

The results of a 'B' sample are still being awaited but if the results match, Philip Fenton's stable star will be stripped of its title.

I think that's quite a sensible decision, Oz. He certainly has a chance, but you can make a case for at least 3 of the others, so the odds don't seem to represent great value. The current going is soft (although the sun is out in the midlands, so it might dry out a bit by tonight) and that isn't ideal for him.

He has been running in Class 1 races, as you've said, and this is a class 3. However he hasn't won in the last 15 attempts, because he's not quite good enough in the higher grade. Connections might normally look for a handicap as an alternative, but he has a handicap mark of 106, which is quite high (albeit, it was as high as 117 after his last win) and so that might have put them off going down that route. Instead they've taken the opportunity to enter him in a Conditions Race, where they obviously hoped that the conditions of entry would work in his favour. That has largely worked for them, in that if this had been a handicap he would have had to give 4lbs to Biniou, who is on the same weight in this race. Similarly, in a handiap he would have been on the same weight as Masta Plasta, who has to give him 3lbs in this race.

Gooders
11-08-2009, 01:12 PM
I might stick him in my Lucky15 but at the end of the day he always seems to end up with excuses as to why he hasn't won - and it is a trappy little race.

But in all seriousness ZENYATTA'S record is amazing, 13 races, 13 wins, 7 group 1's, 4 group 2's..... but this obviously toughest race so far, could be quite rough.... and this is first time the Filly is going up against the colts ....7/2 is tempting though....... but.....

.....I do like GIO PONTI e/w at 14/1 though..... had a good run last time out which would have been a prep race, won over course and distance, back at ideal trip , won 4 of last 5 ... all Group 1 races, got a lovely draw too.

Got this from the owner of greyhound Boolavogue - talking about him racing in the Coral Essex Vase at Romford.

"Boolavogue runs in a major tournament, The Coral Essex Vase, starting tomorrow at Romford. £10k to the winner.

It’s a 36 dog comp over 6 bends (the course and distance of his maiden victory a couple of months ago). 6 heats, 3 qualify then 3 “semis”, 2 qualify for the final.

It’s a wide open tournament but at 25-1 outright (quarter odds first 4 for the place) with Bet 365, he is overpriced. He is as short as 14s elsewhere. He has only run this trip and venue 3 times but has one second and two wins. We think he will continue to improve at Romford. He won nicely there last Friday in a prep race, coming from 6 lengths behind to mow them down.

His heat tomorrow is ok. The main negative is that he is drawn in 4 and would like to be closer to the fence but we expect him to drop behind them and run on through the field to qualify in the first 3.

I would suggest an ew wager at those odds.

A big danger could be Longtail Rebel, best price 14s. He holds the track record over 750 yards at Ireland’s top track and has just joined an English trainer for this comp. He would win this based on his Irish form but no previous trial at Romford is a big negative. Of course, if he takes to the track, he is also overpriced. He could be a shit or bust type though, because if he misses it at the traps at Romford, he will struggle to qualify."

I am on him ew at 25's at Bet365

Did you see the winner of his race? Looked a very good dog however with dogs anything can happen.

However would expect it to be in the top 4 of six for a return! Got told last night that Paddy Power offer 1-6 places in these kind of races so all dogs in the final would get a payout on E/W.

Think the final is on Sky on Monday cheers BB for the info

Boolavogue runs at Monmore on Monday in the Christmas Festival. 18 dogs, three heats, final is a week today.

Only Ladbrokes taking bets at the moment and has it down at 16's

It is a top field and will do well to repeat this week’s success so owners are only recommending a small e/w bet this time out!

4 smallish bets.

3 big winners.

Patent that got me about 50 quid yesterday.

Accumulator got me 50 2 weeks back

And this greyhound.

Fair play to Paddy Power, refunding all losing bets on the race if Dunguib wins the Supreme Novices and they're now money back for non runners. They must stand to lose a fortune if it wins!!

I use Jennings here in Bracknell because they do the best offers in terms of BOGs and "triple odds for one winner in a mulitple", free Placepot for every £10 staked and such like.

The manager has just given me a book of vouchers for Cheltenham. Basically there's one race on each day where they will match my bet up to a maximum of £25 as well as the same thing on The Lincoln on March 27th.

£125 of free bets - job's a good 'un. :)

For those of you on here that followed before, Boolavogue has just returned from injury and won a Derby trial at the weekend.

The owners / trainer are still deciding what to do but likely to be entered soon.

You can currently get 150/1 at Hills but obviously a long way to go (3 Heats, 1/4s then 1/2s)

I am going to have an ew punt anyway just thought I would share it as I know a few won a lot on it last time.
