Taking on Peddlers Cross tomorrow, know this is all going to end in tears. Sir Des Champs for me.
Been at a training course all day but get in! Didn't want to end up taking on Peddlers but had this ante post ranging from 7/1 - 10s :lux:
Voler 31 to win World Hurdle and 7s for a place, value.
Anyone else got an opinion on this before I invest some more money into it?
Surely the horse goes for this now - Big Bucks is a machine but coming second to him gives £55614 - whereas winning the Mares Hurdle gives £39431 or £14854 for second.
Ahem :p :lux: Pleased as punch for connections making the smart move! Would have probably beaten Quevega. Laid to win at a nice round evens from 31 too :D

Personally at the prices I am siding with Mount Benbulben. Stuck some on this at 10/1 last week as Gordon Elliot really is quite sweet on it turning into a staying horse.
He wasn't right when Boston Bob beat him at Navan but he will have been well schooled since then and the rest will have done him all the good.
I don't see that much between them and my personal way of betting would lead me with chancing that the 13/2 horse stays the distance rather then the 6/4 shot.

Ah well
This other one might interest you
Was reading another forum and it caught my eye after pointed out there....
Olofi, in the County Hanicap on friday, around 16/1
Beaten a length by Sire de grugy in the Betfair hurdle and 5 lengths behind Zarkander, Sire de grugy obv franked the form when winning next time out and ran very well yesterday off 147. Olofi runs off 136 on friday (same mark as when a length behind sire de grugy) The horse is trained by the very in form Tom george, horse has also won over course and distance.
Sire de Grugy is still in the race

Revised selections
1.30 Cheltenham Grumeti @ 7.6 Balder Success @ 9
Both e/w, need a bit of cover in this race so don't mind backing both.
2.40 Boston Bob @ 2.38
3.20 Burton Point @ 8.4 Kauto Star @ 5.8
Again, covering 2 more sensible, just don't like Long Run and Kauto seems too big in what might be his last race.
4.00 Chapoturgean @ 7.4
5.05 Lingfield Clean Bowled @ 5.2
Won last 4 over C&D in claimers, step up to handicap class but small field and could get them in trouble round the turn.
7.20 Wolverhampton Derivatives (lay) @ 2.64
Amazingly has found another opportunity to be favourite and another opportunity to lose, beaten last 6, including when 4/11 and 1/8.

The first time I have really done ante post stuff at Cheltenham and very pleased- 5 winners in that lot all at decent prices based on runs I was impressed by during the season and decent prices to allow some trading ie Dynaste and Menorah ( didn't think either would win, but thought prices would shorten).
I also changed my mind about 4 of the winners on the day (ie wouldn't have bet on them on the day- I would have kept Salsify!)- which would have meant far less of a return.
I did actually consider Synchronised after he won the Lexus ( beat Rubi Light) but didn't think he was in the same class as Kauto and Long Run ( how wrong can you be!) . By the way Midlands Grand National today - Synchrosied third in that last year!
I did back Sprinter Sacre ante post too, but that was because of some influences on here, but much later than the 6s.
Also had about half a dozen other winners including Quevega, Big Bucks, Sir De Champs, Teaforthree and Hunt Ball - ( last three I did dutch with a couple of other fancies).
I have Rock on Ruby at 20s, Dynaste at 25s
Triolo Dalene 10
Salsify 8
Monkerty Tunkerty 13
Poquelin 21

Well done fella - glad someone did well.
FWIW, I don't think that was much of a Gold Cup by the standards of recent years - essentially it's been won by a one-paced horse that stays all day, as a result of a fantastic ride by the best jockey around.

18-03-2012, 08:17 AM
Agreed, glad Long Run didn't win a 2nd consecutive one, shown nothing to imply he's at all special, looking like a very ordinary Gold Cup year and you suspect Denman or Kauto in their prime would have won by a long way, ok I suspect that but you may not :)

Not laying Amron Lad now, 2nd favourite has just been withdrawn and he's 1/3 now. Had a slice at 11.0 and a further slice at 9.0. Smashed into 5.4 now.
Text from my mate itk "Stable are confident it will run well, been working well last 2 weeks and will be declared to run tomorrow"
Seen that, couldn't believe it - must be some big money down.
Great news from your mate! I know it works on the surface everyday so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm there on Saturday so I'll see how he looks in the flesh :)

Is this a good thing? Aren't the operators going to lose revenue in tax and pass it back on to the punter?

That's one way of looking at it. At least we can always shop around for our odds. I'm just happy the sport will get the funding it deserves finally.

Any tips for Lingfield on Saturday?
I'll have a look although I'm crap at Lingfield. Actually I'm crap everywhere at the moment.
JamTheEagle tipped up Cai Shen for the Winter Derby - I assume that's at Lingfield on Saturday is it?

Sweet looking card - should be a good day.
As I said, JamTheEagle (a vastly better tipster than me) has picked out Cai Shen in the Winter Derby at 3.25
I shall have a Lucky15 on these 4:
2.25 Gusto
2.55 Borderlescott
3.25 Sooraah
4.00 George Guru
Good luck fella. :p

I don't agree but thank you very much!
Should be a good day there, was pleasantly surprised at the prize money! I knew you'd be all over Borderlescott ;)

Don't really see the draw for Cai Shen being a negative, you'd hope that over the distance there would be no hard luck stories but it is Lingfield...
Also can't say I am enthused by Jamie Spencer but he did improve a lot as a jockey last season. Anyway 10/1 was value, 11/2 is not. Only other money I'd look at investing in the race would be a cheeky bet on Emerald Wilderness.

A couple of years ago he could have carried these over the line but he's 10 years old now. Heart ruling head again!

Happy to report that my seconditis is clearing up - from eight selections yesterday only one finished 2nd.
Five of them finished 3rd.
