Amira's went from 7/1 to 6/1 whilst I was in the shop pondering.

I settled on these as my main bet:

3.10 Tante Sissi
3.35 Genki
4.45 Twice Over
5.50 Main Sequence

And then did Amira's in this one:

3.00 Amira's Prince
3.20 Thunderball
3.35 Jimmy Styles
4.30 Hamoody

Don't fancy much today - especially with all this rain we've had messing with the going.

I wrote these down yesterday but might not perm them up if it turns out that any of them don't like softer going:

Newbury:

1.35 Blue Jack (best bet of the day)
2.40 Elusive Flame (e/w as it shouldn't beat the hotpot Varian horse, who has Guineas/Derby entries)
5.25 The Absent Mare (e/w - up in class)

Bath:

6.00 Signifer
6.30 Night Carnation (might not like the going)
7.30 Six Of Clubs (never won on turf)

Settled on these:

Newbury 1.35 Blue Jack
Newbury 2.40 Gregorian (no value in the fav and 6/1 looks fair for this one)
Bath 6.00 Signifer
Bath 6.30 Beyond Desire (beaten Night Carnation before and better off at the weights, so better value at 6/1)

Drifts out from 9/4 to 6/1, jockey manages to get it stuck behind horses in a field of 7 runners and when it finally gets free it runs on into 2nd, the race being won by one that was backed in from 7/1 to 4/1 before the off.

Stinks of fish. Jockeys' benefit, that race.

LLCOOLSTEVE

Worst case scenario for me today, on a late (1.30 to 9.30), missing all football and racing. Need a new job. Anyway.

2.25 Bangor Mush Mir @ 3

Can idle in front, but has won several times in this grade, likes to front run, Relax also does, but is a bit weak so not overly concerned.

2.00 Newbury Arctic Cosmos @ 2.64

Had a gimmee at Lingfield winning as he liked, lightly raced, won the 2010 St Leger, should be able to dominate and go well here.

Couldn't have done worse if I had tried (same applies to football betting today). All down to me, no excuses. Bronterre disappointing, Arctic Cosmos beaten a distance, Mushmir was 10 lengths clear on first circuit before trying to run out and losing 15 lengths and then finished tailed off (form was mostly 123) with no mulish traits. Frankly bizarre.

windsor 6.25, not sure why Tidal Way is as big as 12 or 14/1, has form on soft, last time out ran behind rougemont who won off 78, was a length and a half behind, and Rougemont franked that form big time at Newmarket. Price can only be as up against a few unexposed potential type horses from bigger yards than Channons

Yet another shit day for me - capped off by the fact that I was in the shop 15 minutes ago and thought about having a bet on Dunaskin but I mis-read the form and thought that he was 5 lengths behind Ostentation last time out and only 1lb better off, whereas he was actually just a short head behind.

14/1 feckin' winner.

I've done these, but I'm not expecting much:

Kempton 7.55 Four Better

Off to Cologne now so that's me until Monday.

Wondering if the weather has a significant impact on results on the A/W. First horse I had took it up one furlong out going well enough but never was able to get away and got swamped with 50 yards to go, same with the second who led, going well, had them off the bridle going round the final turn on the rail, inexplicably hung right (lost about 3 lengths), again got swamped last 25/50 yards, beaten just over a length but both sadly unplaced.

Anyway, you take your own life in your hands with the weather today.

2.05 Cattertick Perfect Words (lay) @ 3

Was 5/4 tissue favourite, but disappointed in soft ground last time out, so would lay here, but guess has significantly drifted, if starting favourite would be a lay.

2.30 Perth Ambion Wood @ 2.92

Should handle the ground and has smart enough form to win this comfortably.

5.30 Leopardstown Rubi Light @ 4

Like him over Quel Esprit, has form on heavy.

2.20 Wolverhampton Steelcut (2pts win) @ 3.6

He's also gone for a lay of Red Cape in the same race @ 2.94, don't see the logic in that, think you are better doing the one or the other.

4.05 Perth Miss Vivian (2pts place) @ 1.65

2.20 Sandwon Questioning @ 6

Dubawi Gold has Group 1 form but can be inconsistent, Questioning is improving with each race and a good performance to beat Twice Over, if improving again, could spring up at a nice price.

3.30 Sandown Rewarded @ 3.45

Is a match, but can't work out the price here, favourite is 1.4 but has a similar level of form and unproved in the ground. Madness.

5.55 Haydock Media Hype (lay) @ 2.5

are the two I've been given, like neither much, won't be laying progressive horses at the top of handicaps.

I like.

3.15 Punchestown Rubi Light @ 3.4

Will be more suited to the conditions than Quel Esprit.

4.30 Punchestown Balder Success @ 2.76

Bit disappointed with the price, was priced up on RP as 5/1, but connections thought he had as good a chance as Grumeti in the Triumph before falling half way round, can gain compensation here.

5.05 Punchestown Une Artiste @ 2.86

On the upgrade, good wins to runs ratio and laughed at his rival latest.

4.15 Sandown Rougement @ 4.5

Tricky 4 runner Derby trial, Rougement isn't in the Derby but the one that is most likely to appreciate the distance and conditions, O'Briens is favourite but has to make a big step up out of maidens and has at least 10lb to find.

8.25 Haydock Gabriel the Hero (lay) @ 2.64

Was 2/7, when getting turned over by Ed De Gas (which is not bad form in itself) but would have won but for hanging badly right, also second on his debut and hung right too, worth opposing.

4.45 Kempton Harry Buckle (1pt win, 2pts place) @ 9.6
6.25 Wolverhampton Lean Machine (1pt win, 2pts place) @ 9

His lay of the day was unplaced at 9/4 favourite but I've missed that, not keen on backing any of them until I have at least seen 20 of them go, I tend not to lay above 2.33 anyway.
