Eagle Nebula was my one bet of the night. From my amateur eye, the jockey put him to the front too early, give it another 50-100 yards and make the move instead!

A bit more perspective on her run:

The British Horseracing Authority handicappers have rated Black Caviar’s Group I Diamond Jubilee Stakes performance five lengths below her Australian figure.

Black Caviar beat the French gallopers Moonlight Cloud and Restiadargent by a head and a neck respectively. The BHA handicappers rated her performance at 117, 15 pounds below her highest domestic rating.

A BHA statement confirmed the organisation’s handicappers took into account the fact Black Caviar’s jockey Luke Nolen stopped riding the champion before the post.

"Had her jockey, Luke Nolen, not tried to coast home on the final run to the winning line, she would have beaten French raiders Moonlight Cloud (115) and Restiadargent (114) by more than a head and a neck, something that the handicappers have taken into account in giving her a performance rating two pounds higher than that awarded to Moonlight Cloud,” the statement read.

If memory serves me right youve had info from Margarson yard in the past.

This info or fancies?

I do!

From previous updates Excellent Aim has been working well over the winter and is ready to race and Young Jackie will like the step up in trip. Don't really think he was saying lump on but I think he is expecting decent runs from these two.

Both were a decent enough price and have lured me in, even though it is bloody Yarmouth...

NO1FAN
27-06-2012, 09:51 PM

4.20 Rough Rock

Quite right Noodlester - we're all big enough and ugly enough to make our own minds up - no blame game going on here either.

Watheeq must win at Folkestone today, surely? Doubt that the forecast SP of 2/1 on the SportingLife website will be available though. By the way, the revamped look and feel of their website is excellent.

Hardly ever set foot in a bookies, out yesterday and went in and had a cheeky e/w on Radio Gaga who scooted up, I then went to win a further £190 on live poker but that's a different story. Odd that the Irish Derby is at 7.40pm, Camelot's form doesn't look as good now as it did, surely the Irish Zarooni can't mess this one up though.

Wow, just wow - because it worked so well for them in France last time?

Can't say I blame him for not wanting his future cash cows beaten but it is rather unsavoury. In a year where, for me anyway, the 3yo milers have been a very average bunch one horse who could change that is not being given the chance it deserves :clown:

If the courses are not fit, they're not fit - that's fair enough. But if a horse is not going to run pull the feckin' thing out before lunchtime, not 30 mins before the bloody race.

Unless you're one of these geezers that spends all afternoon in the shop backing a horse in every race, you've no chance at the moment.

Gooders - came across this tips website a few days ago and they have an impressive strike rate, especially as they go against the perceived wisdom and pick a selection from every race at every meeting. While there is a high proportion of short priced horses they also select (and have winners) at bigger prices.

http://www.speedyequines.com/

What piqued my interest is that 3 out of 4 of your selections match - they go for a 12/1 shot Covert Decree in the 8.35

Bint Alzain and Art Scholar are certainly a lot shorter now than they were earlier. Not that that necessarily means anything!

AP McCoy is a genius.

I noticed that he had gone to Warwick or wherever it was for one ride today so I popped up the road and put Cock Of The Rock in a double with Tinseltown, which the world and his wife have been tipping all day.

Tinseltown won easily but there is no other jockey in the country that would have got Cock Of The Rock home in my opinion - he was off the bridle at least 6 furlongs from home whilst another runner ranged alongside him without the jockey touching him - but good old AP drove him out to score by a tiny margin.

Made my day.

Contrast that with the awful ride that the much-praised SDS gave to Eijaaz in the last at Catterick - gave the leader way too much rope and finished like a train in 2nd. Very poorly judged ride.

Saul, serious question, who are these mysterious horses he should be beating? Frankel has beaten bugger all so far, but that doesn't detract from how good he is, unless he doesn't step up at some time in the future. Excelerbration who has more or less won when not facing Frankel, he's rated 125 himself (exactly the same as SYT so that's a good yardstick), Canford Cliffs and Dubawi Gold (and of course Frankel is rated 13lbs better than SYT, a tad irrelevant since they race different distances) but even so thats a hell of a gap. Whereas SYT best performance is probably running Rewilding close. He's a fair middle distance horse but nothing that special.

Excelerbration who has more or less won when not facing Frankel

You seem to think this makes it looks like Frankel is beating something, whereas all it really does is highlight the lack of depth in their races.

When Excelebration won his Group 3 race in April this year he beat Croisultan. The start prior to running 2nd to Excelebration, he was 15th of 15 in a listed race at Cork, and after his second to Excelebration he has run 4th of 4 and 10th of 10.

Third that day behind was Windsor Palace. He has 2 wins from 20 odd starts (one a maiden, another a shock G3 victory when a pacemaker). His three starts prior to this placing were a 5th of 5 behind SYT (beaten 25 lengths), 5th of 5 behind Twice Over (beaten 35 lengths), 13th of 18 in a handicap (beaten 30.5 lengths).

Excelebration's only G1 win was against the hit and miss Rio De La Plata, who has won a couple of G1s in Italy. One of those was a narrow win where Worthadd was 1.3 lengths away (this horse ran 11th of 11 in the Queen Anne). Rio De La Plata's last 3 starts read 7th of 13, 13th of 14 and 13th of 15.

Excelebration was a G2 winner last year over Beacon Lodge, who has since run 3rd of 7, 5th of 7, 6th of 6, 6th of 6. The last two were floggings, one behind Excelebration and Croisultan, the other a listed race at Haydock where he was beaten 36 lengths.

As a 2 year old Excelebration won a set weights race against Point Du Jour, a horse that has won one from 18, and last few starts read 11th of 13, 7th of 9, 7th of 7, 6th of 17, 4th of 17.

Excelebrations first win was against Belgian Bill. He has won 2 of his 13 starts (a 3 year old hcp and a maiden). His last few starts read 7th of 14, 8th of 16, 2nd of 12, and at Royal Ascot 12th of 30.

Is it me or has there been a big increase in the number of horses carrying big weights in handicaps this season? You used to see the odd top weight carrying 10st and maybe one or two humping 9st 11lbs or whatever but recently it seems that half the field are carrying 9st 10lbs or above in a lot of races.

Has something changed in the way these handicaps are framed?

Took the 13/2 about Excelebration for the July Cup - it will be Soft come Saturday and he should never be that price, granted it is the 'lads' and he might not run but I think he will. Shortened with Ladbrokes into 11/2 which must be significant.

3(8) 1425-60 Beaumont's Party (IRE) Weight: 9-13

8(3) 48-3512 Satanic Beat (IRE) Weight: 8-11
9(9) 549-830 Koo And The Gang (IRE) Weight 8-11

Lowest weight 8-11 and most of the field lumping big weights. I realise that the ratings determine which horse carries what weight but it just seems to me that there's a trend whereby more horses are carrying weights towards the higher end of the scale,

After the years of following, and recommending on here, my mate Steph's Greyhounds (Boolavogue and Jazz Apollo), I'm finally taking the plunge and joining a syndicate buying one of Jazz Apollo's pups.

She will be based down at Hove and likely to run around 3 times a week.

I'll keep you informed of name and progress as soon as I can and if she's worth backing.

EDIT: Just found out her name is JAZZ DIAMOND. Pop her name into www.Greyhound-data.com for details. She is just coming into season so nothing happening for the next 12 weeks but I'll be back in touch when I know more

Finally - some decent racing at Newmarket tomorrow and with any luck, something other than heavy going too.

I've abstained from the real stuff so far this week and just splashed a few quid on virtual racing longshots instead. So far this week I've had placed horses at 33/1, 33/1, 100/1 and 100/1 and today as I said earlier I had a 100/1 winner. I might stick with Portman Park and Steepledowns at this rate. :)

That said, I fancy a few tomorrow so I might have a go on these:

Newm 1.50 Sir Prancealot
Newm 3.00 Red Cadaeux
Donc 5.25 Dr Red Eye
Warw 2.50 Dutch Rose

Treble for Bin Suroor at Kempton tonight I see. Has the corner been turned?

Never had a corner to turn ;) but in all honesty 2 of them were expected to win well enough anyways

10 winners in last 14 days for him i think, few 2nds too

Always thought he was a better AW trainer in fairness.

Very sweet on Greek War @ 8/1 in the 14:25 at Newmarket tomorrow. Soft ground shouldn't be a problem.

ChickenDipper is going too.

I'll have a look tomorrow and then at least you'll have a note of which horses not to back. :p

Nah, it's intermittent - you might be ok as it's due to ease over the weekend - depends how much we get tomorrow when it's threatened to be the heaviest of the week.

Nope - it's a computer system - if I share them and you lot back them, they won't win. :p

My first venture into real racing for a few days and as usual, the results are all over the feckin' place.

Thank gawd for virtual racing.

Fiorente, for example, has just had a nearly 15-length turnaround with Red Cadeaux from their last run.

What chance have you got?

Ryan Moore is a woeful rider. If i see him on a horse, i look away very quickly. He is so unpredictable
