I've looked into it in the past!
I'm not thinking that 5 of us do it, I wonder how many of us we could get together as a group to do it.
Then again, I'll never be rich enough to do it. Despite being 21, I know my station in life!

More than we could ever afford.
I'm not interested in being one of 200 owners in a syndicate to be honest. I'd want to own one outright.

I only back the names I know.
If you don't bet on them you wouldn't know Steve but it's always the same horses that are the longshots (and the same ones that are the favs as well). It's even the same jockeys that ride the longshots - Jimmy Proudfoot (:) ) for example, will never be on a horse that is less than 20/1.
It's by homing in on the longshots I recognise that haven't won or been placed in their last 7 races that I seem to do quite well.
Especially recently.

My father had a racehorse in the late eighties, not a world beater but he did win a race and got placed in a few, gave him loads of fun and he met a lot of nice people but there was plenty of frustration along the way.
Plenty of horses never win and it costs the same to train a bad one as a good one.

The same. It's run by the same company that do the "49's" daily draws.
It's a numbers game, basically, but I've convinced myself that I see some kind of pattern. :)

A vastly higher number of people will have owned horses that haven't got remotely close to winning a race than will have owned a winner.

I'm onto my 4th horse now, three of them winners. The only one that didn't win I part owned with Ozeagle :D
First one was called The Horse Jack, won three including a midweek city race in Sydney, eight 2nds three 3rds. Kayarbee won four, two 2nds and four 3rds.
My current filly is called Candy Tuft, her dam is a half sister to Russian Rhythm. Has had four starts, won her first and has been the beaten favorite all runs since with some poor rides. Will go around again next week.

We go to a pub that is just a few miles from the course for lunch - don't know the name of it or even quite where it is - (we head straight south from the Reading area and park at the top of the course).
I'll see if I can find out the name of the place - the pub grub is excellent, especially the fish, which is always really fresh.
I'm going to have the family in tow so won't be joining the lads day out as such but will say hi if it becomes obvious who people are. :p

Backed Prime Exhibit for pennies in the end instead of including him - he may be a light of former days but at 9/1 in a Class 4 handicap, worth a go.
I replaced him in the Lucky15 with Sandwith in the 4.00 at Musselburgh. The Nifty Fox probably deserves to be favourite but Sandwith is a stone better off for 4 lengths and in a 7-runner race is a mad price at 12/1.
Won the free £15 bet in the Jennings draw for losing slips this weekend so I've stuck that on The Full Shilling in the 6.35 at Ffos Las.
Finally had remaining shrapnel on Scommettitrice in the 9.05 at Ffos Las.

There is one I really fancy at York - Emirates Queen, this is what I wrote about her: Nicely bred Street Cry filly by Zomaradah (a Dual Group 2 winner) who obviously liked her step up to 10f. She looked big, strong and scopey. Windsor maiden form is also working out nicely. She displayed an impressive turn of foot when responding to one hit and went on to win gamely.
I think somewhere like York with a long straight will help her as she really galloped nicely. She is 5/1 which I am happy to take as she impressed me!

Don't really like the look of tomorrow so small stakes on big prices:
14:00 - Beyond @ 12/1 -Might put a bit more on this e/w, with Will claiming 7lbs he is running off of 75 and has won off 78 albeit over shorter.
14:35 - Tha'ir @ 15/2 - seems a crazy price given his listed win, like the sire too
17:30 - White Frost @ 7/1 - liked his run last time out
Shifting Star @ 28/1 also looks well handicapped with Will's claim!

After early success in the first race for a £1 e/w (hardly worth it but covered my small bets yesterday) nothing else dropped. Some large prices coming in so with that in mind here's todays telections:
14.00 - Nafaath
14.35 - Olympic Glory
15.10 - Farhh (frankel will win but just in case)
15.45 - Willie wag tail
16.20 - Mojave desert
16.55 - Amber Silk
17.30 - Galician

When they came past us one and a half furlongs out he was still motionless. Bobsta was moaning and I was saying "he must know he's got this in the bag, he hasn't touched the horse yet".
That's Hughes for you - a bit flash.
Gutted that Santefisio got pipped in the last otherwise it would have been a huge day for me.

Oh and the other good thing was that we didn't pay to get in!
We parked in Car Park 11 at the top of the hill and walked down the side of the course as usual but when we got to the Lennox Enclosure there were no turnstiles.
I told the stewards and they just shrugged and let us through.

Nice one with Graham Wade. Good odds on that.
Tom Segal to thank for that. Over lunch in the pub I was telling Bobsta what a good tipster he is and because I'd already backed Romeo Montague in my Lucky15 I decided to stick my on course bet on Hurricane Higgins, which Segal had recommended at 28/1.
We got to the course and in the confusion of putting bets on for 4 different people I completely forgot and backed Romeo Montague again. I was gutted.
Me and Bobsta decided that we would both back Segal's only other Goodwood tip which was Sir Graham Wade at 14/1. Thank gawd!
Was great to see Frankel in the flesh but it was a bit of an anti-climax - with only 4 runners and one of them the pacemaker the race was nothing more than a training blow-out in the end.
As I said yesterday, I really thought Santefisio had won the last for me at 16/1 (we were a long way from the winning post) and I was cheesed off to see it get pipped close home, especially as it got bumped around a bit as it passed us.

Wasn't sure how to read the form and it was quite short so I doubled it with Albaspina which will now go on to lose...
I had the advantage of seeing it win live at Goodwood and it didn't break sweat. Thought it would be 1/2 today, at best. Days like this one wishes one had a few grand floating around doing nothing.

Hughes has rides in the last 3 at Kempton.
Got to be worth sticking with him as he is on fire

Don't know how many times I've backed Suzi's A Class Act this season - tonight it wins by 16 lengths in a 6-runner race at 8/1.

Johnston with another big-priced winner in the 8.30 and bloody Balding - I've been following him a fair bit and he's just had a 66/1 winner which I missed!

Like I said, staying away from Kempton until it rides normally again.
Quaroma in the 16:30 should be winning off of 76 now surely.

Entered again on Saturday at Haydock, think he might meet his match against Rosslyn Castle and Gospel Choir - both are horses of mine to follow.

Interesting - although Johnston has a few entries so he may not run.
Having had a quick look, I'd be confident that he would beat Gospel Choir and would see Rosslyn Castle as the danger - although he's been off for a while.
If he takes his chance, I'll stick with him I reckon.

He does have a nice long stride when he gets going, should be a good race providing it doesn't tip down again...
My old friend Treasure Beach runs again, not sure if he is in tip top condition after his globe trotting exploits but he has no Group 1 penalty and he easily has the best form tied in with Nathaniel, 3/1 is a decent price.
Quaroma is a NR for some reason.
Edit: 3/1 not 4/1

Let me down on Dana's Present :(
Very happy with Another Try though, got a lot of respect for the Jarvis yard and Murphy is a good young jockey. Big double up for them on both gambles!

Hughes get me out of trouble (after putting me in it)
Santefisio was given a shocker by Buick I thought. Just been looking at tomorrow's racing and jim best rarely sends just 1 out to a meeting for a day out and he has 1 in each of the final races in the afternoon tomorrow. Could be decent e/w bets.
5.10 Brighton : beggars opera
5.55 lingField: goodwood starlight
Both around 14/1

Had Hip Hip Hooray in a single that got me out of trouble but also doubled up with Dangerous To Know who was shocking. 5/1 and 9/2 would have been a nice £5 double

Came out of the stalls poorly and got stuck in behind. I thight he tried a few times to get through and the door was closed. If he had a bit more luck in running he would have won by 5 lengths +

Had all of my £60 winnings from Hip Hip Hooray on Whos Cross at 6/4
He was going well in behind and looked to hav a few chances to go through but looked like he didn't wanna go through. Only defence to Buick is it looked like the horse hung a bit and that's why he had to go wide. Definitely 1 to follow next time out. Keep an eye out for me in case I don't see it entered

Another Citizen looks an interesting runner for Tim Easterby in the 3.40 at Brighton, not really his usual stomping ground.

Couldn't back anything that dead Ted is riding, he is easily one of, if not the, worst jockeys around.

Horses for me tomorrow:
Newmarket:
14:25 Assizes @ 7/2
15:00 Highland Colori @ 5/1 - Run virtually solo from the dreaded ‘coffin box’ at Ascot and still managed to come fifth! Same mark just hope White Frost doesn't bite me in the arse!
15:35 Reyaadah @ 13/2
Haydock:
14:20 Gospel Choir @ 3/1 - Very happy to take on Sir Graham Wade as I think he is a Group class. If there was cut in the ground I would be all over Rosslyn Castle - two big horses to follow.

Shoved them in a Lucky 15 because I'm to lazy to pick my own horses recently. Good Luck :p
