Turd skating is the latest craze to hit sunny Clacton. You take a flying leap at a good fresh dog turd and see how far along the pavement you can slide. John Planet is said to have achieved a 24 foot run down Old road. Mind you he was pushed by 5 other blokes

On a business trip in Phoenix a few years ago, found myself sitting at the bar chatting to some bloke. I was a few beers in and attempting to discuss the stupid sports they have out there compared to the great sports we have over here. He must have been getting a bit fed up with me.

Ice hockey (or "hockey", for the benefit of Americans) was on the telly in the bar. Anaheim versus somebody.

'And another thing' I said, 'your team names are stupid. You would never get a team in England calling themselves "The Ducks"'.

'They are not "The Ducks". They are "The Mighty Ducks"' he said.

'Don't understand those blokes trying to be so hard and calling themselves "Ducks"'

'Right, go on then. What team names do you have in England?'

'Um..... Er......Um......... "Crystal Palace"'

That shut me up.

In regional Aussie Rules here in Victoria, Yallourn merged with Yallourn North many years back to form the imaginatively titled Yallourn-Yallourn North. I was waiting for them to subsequently merge with South Yallourn so they could become South Yallourn-Yallourn-Yallourn North.
