Just saw Marco on the train up to Victoria with one of the physios. Asked him if he was playing tonight & he said that he was injured and that he was on his way up to see a specialist about his foot.

He also said that he came back from injury too quickly last time and that probably didn't help the situation. Hopefully he said he won't be out for too long this time.

Really nice bloke, took the time to talk to a few fans on the train

This is why Team Dowie's failure to bring in any sort of wide player in January will cost us. Soares out wide for the next month or so?

I don't think he would be my choice of companion if ever I were stuck in the trenches ..... but he is a talented player. Matt Jansen had a rather weak constitution and often missed games with flu etc when he was with us, but still managed to make overall a postive contribution. Still, it shows how we really need more cover in wide positions.

And why with every game that passes without doing something about it renders Iain's esteem lower and lower in my book.

Bless Iain & Bob tried, but after 5+ months, they just did not have enough time to "Get bodies over the line"

Just like last year we will rue not making any signings in January.

The squard is not up to this challenge, its taken all season for the majority of fans to finally realise this fact.

We constantly play players out of position, we have not had a left sided player since day one and now our only creative player will be missing once again !!! Criminal !!!

Not sure who is to blame but it is very annoying !!!!

Just as an aside.... The season ticket letter suggesting a further 3 years at 1125 due to us being in the premiership soon. What a joke !!!!

It's ridiculous that a manager who prefers to play 4-4-2 with two wingers only actually has two out-and-out wingers at the club. We have strength in depth in almost all other positions, apart from at left back, but for some reason the Dowies seems incapable of bringing a genuine left winger in to the club.

I cannot face the thought of watching Soares on the wing tonight as he's been very ineffective there to say the least. I can't believe I'm saying this but I would actually prefer Andrews on the right tonight. That shows how bad things are.

Players like Reich and McAnuff are very talented but they are also likely to suffer their fare share of injuries if their records for us this season are anything to go by. Reich looks to be very injury prone and that's why the Dowies have made a serious error by not ensuring we have competition for places on the wings. Of course, it's not too late for them to do something about it but they seem incapable of bringing in loan players. The balance is just not there and this could cost us dear.

You'll get Andrews on the right, as Hughes won't play 2 games close together, so Soares will be in CM

I don't see why Hughes can't do this as a one-off? He always strikes me as a fit player, although he's obviously not as dynamic as he used to be.

I really do believe that a quality central midfielder and left winger would have significantly increased our chances of going up this year.

He did it to reasonable effect earlier in the season. Remember his fabulous crosses for Dougie and Marco's goals in the cup win v Liverpool ? Back then, Hughes was left, Marco was right. We could do that with Jobi on the right this time. But then, with the lack of a fit Aki in centre mid, if Hughes is out wide, we have a powder puff central midfield. Especially as Leggy has to fill in at left back.

We tend to forget that Hughsie is left-footed. But we will need him in midfield, especially as Aki is out.

Should be an interesting test of ID's selection skills, what with injuries to AJ, Aki, Marco and Pops (and of course DG), and Hudson & Fitzhall suspended.

So what was Reich then? Not the management's fault that he got injured straight away.

Am I the only one most concerned by the fact this seems to be another player that "came back too early"???

Getting rather fed up with this, we do have a number of options in the squad and while it is very frustrating to be without certain players especially when we haven't got natural replacements in these positions (and certainly yes the moaning about not getting bodies over the line comes in here) we would surely be better off giving them another week or two to heal up properly rather then throwing them straight back into the arena to get injured for the next month or two!

I agree with your feelings about Soares.... he is definatley a CM man. But even there he is performing badly at the moment. The lad clearly has talent but just looks low on confidence.... bit like Ben watson!

Hurry back Marco!!!

Looks like Mr. Andrews on the wing then. Think he'll surprise alot of people if he plays the whole game against Millwall, might even stick him down for first goal scorer!! COME ON WAYNE!

I agree about WA. I hold my hands up that I said he could never make it at his age due to his terrible control, but he has really made the most of what he has got. He desrves a whole game, and i think he'd do well vs Millwall.

Sometimes physical ability like pace can really become as useful as skills. Wayne Andrews scares the hell out of left backs when he runs at them. Hopefully he'll cause Millwall problems :)
