I just read on teamtalk that Smith is trying to sign staurt Taylor... do we really need another young keeper as Gregg WILL come good, Kendall is ok, Kolinko is only 26 and Digby is good backup.

gregg is not a 1st team goalkeeper, at least not in this division with the strike force there is, digby is old and his confidence is going, kolinko we'll wait and see but taylor is one of the best up and coming keepers in the country, keegan recognised it which is why he trained with the wold cup squad. he has proved he is a great shot stopper, iffy in the air i know but i feel he is our best keeper at the moment and i think smith is trying to sign him on loan for the rest of the season anyway not a permenant deal although i feel it would be great if we signed him.

I also do not understand why Smith is now trying to sign Taylor permanently when we have the Latvian. If Taylor is as good as he is cracked up to be, he is going to want first team football to gain experience (otherwise he may as well stay at Arsenal). Equally unless the Latvian is regular first choice that is surely going to adversely affect his chance of being picked for his country, which will then turn in to a Foster scenario. Not sure about Kendall. I reckon Fraser will go, he wants first team at his age. I suppose all of this is irrelevant as long as we insist in playing without a 'keeper on the substitutes' bench!

I can't see why Smith would try and sign him now he's signed the Latvian keeper. If there was any chance of him signing surely he would have bid before buying Kolinko. I don't think there is any chance of us signing him. BUT if would be great if we did although I still feel Gregg should have been given more of a chance.

This story was also mentioned in the Croydon Advertiser today.
Clearly, i think it shows Smith only has confidence in the new keeper, Kolinko, and Stuart Taylor. He only plays Gregg in the Worthington Cup because he has no other option but to play him.
I think the idea of getting Taylor would provide Kolinko with competition.
If Taylor did stay with us for the whole season i'm not sure who would be first choice because Kolinko would need to play a certain amount of games to get his work permit re-newed, will be very interesting to see what happens.

Bloody good idea.

From what I've seen of him so far he is living up to his reputation as one of the besy goalkeepers around.

The club can't have too many good players.

Dunno about this new keeper we've signed, but I like Taylor and would be more than happy if we signed him.

But would Arsenal let him go?
