Yes Friday is now an anticlimax after the week I had. Night out with Kirsten at Uni on Monday. Got very drunk and spent weeks budget. Went drinking with BBSers for the football Weds. Meant to leave at 7. I got on a train with stevek at midnight. Last night work do that with 100 people the bar bill was approaching 6,000 big ones! I now have no money and no body. Right I am going to drink and share tales of Gabby

Hello, Friday night in crowd. I am actually just about to go out, so it doesn't really count, I suppose.

But I did go to sleep for an hour between 8 and 9 pm - now that has got to be top flight sadness, surely.

Lizzy

It's ok Beestey - Kev T has been asleep since 8pm - he said he was going for a nap but looks like I won't be seeing him again this evening. Just me, the laptop and a pot of tea tonight. Maybe I win the prize.

Beat this: I'm in. Baby has been cryinh all night. Finished off a bottle of wine. Watched the far too long "the Guardian", starring the redoubtable hero of heroes Kevin Costner and am now sufing this with "America's Next Top Model" on in the background on the Sony Channel. All this waiting for tea to be over in the ashes so I can bemoan Australian dominance via Test Match Special and the live graphic on cricketworld.

I worked till gone 8 we had a meeting that went on for 3 hours and finished at 19.30, then there was stuff to do. I really enjoyed though because everyone was learning off of each other & challenging each others' opinions but in a well mannered & amusing way. So that was good. Enjoyable even.
Then on the train home I realised that I hadn't replied to 2 E Mails so used my Blackberry. So I really finished work at about 21.00
So I got a deserved pint of Ordinary & a chinese on the way back
home but fell asleep in front of the TV.

I can do geeky sad!

Been to Iceland (food shop not country) with Mrs Sluggo, collected Miss Sluggo from her Karate and then on to KFC for a bucket of something for tea.

Having done that I'm sat here at the kitchen table on the laptop typing this in while a hard disk extracted from another laptop re-formats. When that one is done I'm going to dismantle another old laptop disk and re-format that. If I'm lucky I might get to join Mrs Sluggo in the lounge to eat a weight-watchers dessert thing and watch some repeat of a house make-over show on UK-Bilge +1.

You can buy beer in cans and bottles now to keep in your fridge. That might alleviate your boredom and bring you to a higher state of consciousness. Alternatively, it could lead you throwing up in your pants and waking up to find your neighbour's sixth form attending daughter naked in your bath, covered only by a copy of Women's Realm.

Actually you might be able to help me - where can I find a good Kebab shop around there? I have looked for one, but I don't fancy using the one on the High Street as one summer evening I was walking down there and saw a massive spider come out of the shop!

Huzzah - am leaving the office in about 15 minutes. Explained that, given i have averaged about 3 hours sleep a night this week, if i worked all night tonight i would be feck all use tomorrow when the real shit goes down. This seemed to hold some weight.

Equally impressed by the success of your thread. Will have to ask you something about golf one day as i really ought to learn. Have never really played golf before (apart from in the states), i'm demon with a seven iron and crap with evetything else.

Also, don't know if you recall that transfer pricing thing we mentioned briefly a couple of months ago, but thought some more about it at the time. Conclusion was i don't think it would work (it might but the expense required would be too much).

Well thanks to an accident that happened at 7.00am at the junction of the A13 and the M25 and the subsequent traffic tailbacks caused by its not opening until this afternoon I managed to spend nearly 2 hours travelling between Kennington and Newcross this afternoon as I tried to pick somebody up before heading over to Basildon.

When I heard that the traffic jams caused by the cancellation of the Woolwich Ferry where stretching back as far as Surrey Docks I just gave up and came home.

Shocking.

Having been caught up in these sort of jams myself Matt in this area, I know where you're coming from. Why does the South - East / East London seem to really suffer this on a regular basis. Having lived and travelled, by road in all areas of London, I have come to the conclusion that these areas are the worst, travelling to and from.
On one occasion, trying to get home from Walthamstow to Docklands one night, took over five and a half hours, due to a lorry being stuck in the Blackwall tunnel.

On a seperate note, travelling through Kennington the other day, I could not believe how many estate agents are now in the area. Apart from Jado's Caff and the Windmill Chippy, where have all the shops gone?
This, from someone who was based there for over 12 years.

Anyway, the night is now boring.
Back from an early meal out with the Mrs, kids, and their friends, the young ones are in bed and all the girls are watching Ugly Betty.

He has moved to a shop down on Brixton Road. Never risked it myself.

The POW is still going but not my cup of tea. The Pilgrim is still there but the brewery forced the tenants out by hiking the rent sky high and now it changes theme every 6 months.

However the tenants have taken over the Duchy and thats a cracking pub. In fact probably one of the few proper Pubs left in the area.

I heard that the POW had turned into a gay pub?
Although, last time I was in there, at least 8 years ago, Paddy (that one) was still in attendance.

It was the curiously named Cock Tavern that turned into a gay pub. Not sure if that's still there. I was dismayed to learn that the Alderman had shut down as it was my lunchtime hang out when I worked at Arrowtip in Stannary Street.

No, they made things out of polystyrene - packaging, film props, the works. The old factory and studio has been taken over by a TV company afaik.

That's right, we made the Channel 5 logo that was used on screen and a 9' tall polystyrene vagina that was used for some feminist claptrap TV show on Channel 4. It was a strange place to work, mainly stuck in the 1960s. I had my own office that I was allowed to smoke in. Happy Days.

have you got big arms? As someone i new with said large arms got a exceptional high reading at a Well known medicentre ,So he went straight to his GP who asked about the size of the arm band, that they used to take his reading and then pulled out a larger one and his reading was normal .

Well, it's Saturday morning here now but I had a pretty sad one. Washing machine broke so had to do washing at the launderette, had a ready meal for one, followed by two strong ales...then fell asleep on the sofa. When I eventually dragged myself off to bed, I noticed two blokes walking down the street, off night clubbing probably. It was 9.45pm

Well, I exaggerate slightly. We have some windows. But they're a long way from where I'm sitting and obscured by scarlet blinds. I also have a skylight immediately behind (and above) me. But I can't see anything out of that either! Quite apart from the fact it's a bit dark just now . . .

Sometimes during my shifts I have to go to the ground floor just to pop outside and remind myself what the world looks like. Sigh.

I now have people searching sheds, tool boxes etc, looking for suitable rivets, drills, hammers so, we can have a go at mending it. I do have RAC response, especially for the disabled, do you think it's worth a call?:D

Thought I'd go out on Saturday this week, just so I could contribute to this thread again.
:D

Later I will be watching the Hawkwind documentary on BBC4, then 'Natural Born Killers' on Film4.

It's the boyfriends birthday and he wanted a lads night out so while he's out pissing it up I'll be spending my evening in front of the computer writing about OCD then borderline personality disorder before moving onto the statistics section of my dissertation. Thought it was best to avoid going out too in case I bump into him and am seen as 1 of those girlfriends who goes out and follows her boyfriend to check he's behaving himself :(

Best Friday night for ages, and I haven't left the house:D

Finished early, took over babysitting duty (ok, fathering), watched Cbeebies, started sifting through old Top Gear eps (the Caravan holiday one), settled down to watch football, ran around the room when Healy scored in white not green for once, have just got the heartrate back to normal and the wife's in an amazingly good mood. Oh, and there's a newly open tin of quality street doing the rounds.

Next stop more Top Gear. Who needs to go out?:D

howard - that's made me laugh out loud (I am obviously bound for hell so apologies).

I was having an averagely normal Fiday night - having a few drinks at the local rubbish Irish pub before thinking of heading to Holborn, then I get the phonecall.

My girlfriend (for whose work-related absence for the past two and a bit weeks) rings me up to tell me she's proper ill (which seems to be true) and therefore I's need to feed her sister's cat, as the sister is away for the weekend and the gf had promised to feed the feline). So I leave the pub at 6:30, get to my flat to pick up keys and instructions, head off chez bird's sister, feed bastard cat and finally get home about 20 minutes ago. What a load of old ••••.

Now make it Friday, Saturday & Sunday night, it can't be fixed!

Have to wait 'til Monday & a 150 mile round trip to Wrexham. At least there is a Palace game to listen to tomorrow:p

Hey Stav, you laugh as much as you want, compared to what you are going through, I have no problems. I'm the first one to crack jokes about my leg, if we can't laugh, what else is there.:D

Friday - Good Friday, so what's good about it then?
I'm almost ready to go out but can't be bothered, I know the town will be full of drunk people who have been out all day - I saw hoards of people spilling onto pub fronts this afternoon, worse for wear.
I'll report back later folks. Can't let mates down and I bought new shoes and top. Heyho here we go.

Got home, bath time with the baby, popped down the Croham for the last 30 minutes of the England game, having a bottle of Stella, going to microwave a spot of dinner and watch Big Brother at half ten then an early night tonight for certain.

my internet connection has "congestion issues", so when it's busy my access is very slow/non existant. Friday nights its faster than linford on drugs. Obviously everyone else is out having fun, getting drunk and shagging each other. Bastards :(

Friday nights are traditionally red wine and pizza night and have been for 17 years in the Bromley household. A chance to catch up properly on the week whilst chilling with a nice glass or few of Shiraz or maybe a cheeky Argentinian Malbec. We actually miss it when we are unable to keep with tradition due to other engagements or being away etc. Sad but true. It's a night we really look forward to all week.

Wife has gone out, kids in bed

Fancy a beer but none in house and no way of getting any.

Thus have the following potential cocktail ingredients:

Orange Juice
Apple Juice
Milk
Napelon Brandy
JD
Southern Comfort
Archers
Teachers Whiskey
Toilet duck

Any suggestions?

Live life on the edge mix them all together, make sure you do it in the toilet duck container as you can then see how far away you can squirt it from into your mouth or even make it like an extreme drinking game by shooting it around the side of the sofa or arching it in the air and trying to catch it in your mouth without losing toes on the sofa

I'm extremely well stocked with reds following my other half's recent 40th birthday party, though that stock may take a bit of a hammering tonight! It's sad but true that we really do get the hump if our Friday night tradition cannot go ahead due to other commitments. We turn down offers of nights out on a Friday whenever we can. It's about as religious as I get! Got mostly Chilean, Argentinian and Australian reds. tried a Braziliian red the other day. The first I've ever seen on the market. Nothing to write home about though. You really can't IMHO beat a good Oz shiraz or a nice Spanish Rioja, though its fun trying, especially a Chilean Merlot or an Argentinian Malbec.
