I hope you've skinned up a great big fat one, got some champers on ice, slipped into some saucy lingerie and are sat waiting for Kev to come home?

Could be worse, you could have been left for a weekend in name of Cricket! :(

Thankfully I'll be at cricket all day tomorrow whilst Kev is doing weird supermarket clique stuff in littlehampton.

Cricket rocks. :)

I'm taking apart a tutu I made a month ago because the girl I made it for didn't listen on how to pull on a tutu. So I've got to take it apart, replace part of it then put it all back together again.

Now that is sad :(

I don't understand Cricket, I have been trying to take an interest though.

To be fair I think it is a big excuss for them all to get away from the Mrs's for a few nights and drink!

It's just a G.

Don't bar it (obviously). You gotta mute the 2nd and 6th strings (for some reason). Just play a G - it will be fine.

Seems weird I suppose, as I have been out with a few nutty girls and didn't enjoy it (well apart from the sex!) but she just ended up becoming more like a mother than a girlfriend (she's a bit older than me).

I know she loves me and I still do her but it's the old question of what really is love. Maybe I'll regret it one day but if you're not happy then what can you do? What's more important inner happiness or love?

I was trying to play this

http://www.heartwoodguitar.com/Guitar%20Music%20for%20Web/Radiohead%20-%20Creep.htm

I was trying to use my thumb like it says, but it was just going horribly wrong. You think I should just learn the standard chords rather than these half way up the fretboard jobbies and it should sound ok?

I would struggle with that chord, albeit i'm relatively new (well 3 or 4 years) Not like you old timers:p

How can you barre it and on the barreing finger miss out the 2nd and 6th. Thats pretty hard TBF hence your recommendation for an open G being best.

The tab thingy seems to be suggesting using your thumb on the 1st string then you can mute the second string with the finger pressing down on the 3rd string and mute the bottom string with the 5th string finger.

I just couldn't get my thumb down properly with all my other fingers sprayed all over the place.

Ok, no barre chords. From Memory

Wonderwall
Dont look back in anger (well its got an Fm but skip it)
Talk tonight (best ever Oasis song IMO yet so simple)
Songbird

So many more too

Beatle made many songs i believe that dont have barre chords. Look on 911tabs or e-chords.

Would have to check the rest though.

andyocpfc
30-05-2008, 09:49 PM
Try this Kev. Yes it does have barre chords but try strumming them (not tried it myself but just found it so it could be cack.

G
When you were here before
B
Couldn't look you in the eyes
C
You look like an angel
Cm
Your skin makes me cry

G
You float like a feather
B
In a beautiful weather
C
I wish I was special
Cm
You're so ••••••• special

But I'm a creep
B
I'm a wierdo
C

Playing the barre on Cm was tricky, but by cheating and just playing the bottom 4 strings it sounded fine. Not so much luck with the B. Which finger do you use to bar the strings on the fourth fret. The little finger is the easiest to get there but the 3rd finger has more strength.

Many people have problems with the B chord to begin with.

I play the B like on the link below as shown at the bottom of the page.

They always do make it look easy mate :( But tbf they have been playing a long time probably and took music tech at school. Just sliding up the neck from one to other. Once the barreing finger becomes stronger it will come. Someone once told me when trying to learn barre chords to instead of playing open chords with the normal fingers forget the 1st finger and tring using the other 3 and your fingers will eventually learn the pattern. Its just all about finger shapes.

You should do some extensive weight training geared to the little finger.

You should use this as it allows you to utilise the B a lot easier.

Learning the shapes isn't the problem, its just that first finger strength. I'm guessing its tougher on an acoustic too.

Pretty much. I was sh-t scared of barre chords when i first started and avoided any songs that involved them but eventually you have to tackle them as many great songs include them and we all want to learn those songs. The key is to get the 1st finger as strong as poss.

i had a stab at learning when i was about 16 on mates guitars. when you learn to barre chords lots of songs are easier just sliding up and down . changing positions for chords becomes much easier.
the main riff in boys don't cry - the cure is piss easy a minor shape up and down the fret board if i remember right

someone mentioned dont look back in anger not all the same shape ,but this was nearly all done on barre chords and the pattern of chords makes it easy quite fluid. Same as big mouth strikes again , but i havent touched a guitar in 10 years so i might be mistaken.

When I play a G barred at the 3rd fret, my thumb is directly opposite my middle finger and positioned fairly centrally across the back of the neck. If the barred strings are buzzing, try moving your thumb so that it is more under your index finger.

You need to get your wrist well forward too, so that the tips of your fingers are pressing down on the strings and not buzzing against the adjacent strings.

I am sitting in a room different from the one you are in now. I am recording the sound of my speaking voice and I am going to play it back into the room again and again until the resonant frequencies of the room reinforce themselves so that any semblance of my speech, with perhaps the exception of rhythm, is destroyed. What you will hear, then, are the natural resonant frequencies of the room articulated by speech. I regard this activity not so much as a demonstration of a physical fact, but more as a way to smooth out any irregularities my speech might have.

I am severely in the dog house with the missus, I've had the day off, and a very good pal of mine had to go to court today (child custody) and I said I will drive him to Kingston and wait around and give him some support,(he was petrified) turns out court lasted 3 hours but I go back to collect him, and good news from the court, so obviously he needs a drink and I stay with him and take him to Wimbledon and Tooting(I'm not drinking at all) but he's starting to get well steamed up, by the time we get back to Sutton I need a beer or 3 so I park and leave the car have a couple more and head home slightly tipsy (not eaten either) and as I stagger through the door she's up waiting for me! Shit! she's gone to bed now angry!

Yeah. Friday.
GBFs birthday, happy birthday Russ you knob jockey.
Three choices, go out and get pished with him and his bum chums. Fag Hag. (Can't control myself after a few)
Stay home and get pished (end up opening anything to hand).
Go to new blokes flat eat and get slightly pished ( he's more restrained and sober than I - wtf is he doing with me)?

I'd go for the latter but then I would rather cut my tits off with a blunt knife than go out drinking at the moment.

Few beers after work, then off to try and claim some cash playing cards.

Trying to keep out of the missus way as she has trained for the last 3 months to do "steelman" tomorrow only to get tonsilitis this week and cant do it. :(

I have had a fab day. Nice bit of news at work and a pat on the back.

Now have a really nice lazy weekend which I have been looking forward to after a couple of really busy weekends. Got in some nice food, nice wine, good stuff to watch. Doesnt sound much but it pleases me.

I'm just gonna enjoy the speculation.

However, little al, crabs do not stop a person from going out.

If you enjoy speculation, go out, announce the above in the pub and it should follow you around for the rest of your time at Uni.
