For the last week or so I've tried to load CM 00-01, but in the second 'phase' of loading the PC crashes. At first I got an error message stating that the Hall of Fame was missing (?).
Does anyone know what I can do get get around this ? I really don't want to start all over again.

I had the very same problem a few months ago. Im afraid the only way i found to make it work again was to uninstall and reinstall again. Sorry.

go to http://community.sigames.com/1/OpenTopic and use the tech questions forum.
I think the error is down you you using an edited set-up of the original files (you edited players/transfers etc before 1st beginning your current game?).

Thanks for the advice. I didn't actually edit anything !
I'll be pretty annoyed if I have to start everything again, I was in the Premiership for 4 seasons (getting promoted in my 2nd season) with a good squad. :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

Can't you backup the save game and then uninstall it, reinstall it with the 3.89 patch then use the save game again?

What you can do is paste it on your desktop or an easy to find folder, then reinstall and put back in the save games file. Simple

OK so you may need more than 1 floppy, what about a zip drive to back up ? or try a cd writer.

Is the hall of fame file still in the main directory? If not, either install another version somewhere on your computer and copy it over or get some else's on disk and place it in your game.
Can't remember the actual name of the file, I think it is:
halloffame.dat

Hi Rich.....
Just look in the champman foilder, find a file that has the same name as your saved game, and should be 40+Mb at least. Copy this file to another location, but remember where as you will need it later.
Now, uninstall and re-install ChampMan, then find your saved game file, and copy and paste it back into your ChampMan folder. When you start the game you should now be able to load your old saved game.
Of course, if there is a corruption within the saved game file itself none of this will help!!
Cheers mate :p

Thanks for the info guys. To be honest, I forgot all about this - until I got the CM urge I get every three/four weeks.
b_e how come you forgot to tell me about this yesterday ?! Hope the flu's ok. I'm not going the way you go back to Brighton again, it's a magical mystery tour !
