Not sure this one will run but I hope so. I don't follow the betting thread so some of these bets may be covered but i'm interested in peoples thoughts for 6-10 result accumalators on the footy this season.

I'm gonna look to place a 1(oooooo!!) acca each week on the English/Scottish footy in the hope of hitting one or two this season with a nice profit. So I'm interested in peoples suggestions for games. It won't be easy early in the season to get an idea of how teams are playing but as it's only a quid that's not a problem!

For the first games of the seaon I'm gonna plump for:

1 = Home win
2 = Away win
X = draw

Leeds v Norwich - 1
Birmingham v Colchester - 1
Barnsley v Cardiff - 2
Crewe v Northampton - 1
Millwall v Yeovil - 1
Milton Keynes Dons v Bury - 1
Rangers v Dundee - 1
Nottingham Forest v Bradford - 1
West Brom v Hull - 1

Any others?

Wins for

Birmingham
West Brom
Burnley
Swansea

Too early to have any real idea about form so probably best to wait for 3/4 games

I fancy Ipswich to beat Palace as well.

KevTheOptimist

Yeah, strictly speaking I would never place any big money on accas until a few weeks into the season but this really for a bit of fun and just for a quid here and there.

I may stick a quid on all suggestions(within reason) on the thread and keep a tally going!

Ozeagle is of course correct. However, should one multi come in then you will make good all the other multi's that don't come in! Especailly if you can fluke a few in a row!

I usually look for five homes and one away, most seasons I hit one or two results, best was 659 for a 6 acca.

As already mentioned, always avoid draws. I only ever go for home wins and it's pretty pointless selecting Chelsea v Watford (or the equivalent from other divisions).

Obviously you can't do it until the season's underway, but I only select matches where the odds for a home win are better than Evens, but the home team is higher in the table or have an exceptionally good home record if not. That doesn't leave many matches to choose from because the odds are unbelievably mean, but there's usually 7 or 8 games that match that.

If you pick 6 of them, then the odds will be at least 64/1 so you'd get well over 300 from a fiver. That said, I do it every week religiously (and midweek if there's enough games) and on average only win 2 or 3 times a season.

the odds are very short considering it is the 1st game of the season- you are really guessing who are going to be the strong teams and as such picking based on the name and reputation of the clubs rather than their form.

Early season I tend to look for higher odds- teams that might surprise e.g. Watford and Luton early last season.

I'm looking at Leicester away to Luton @2.95 as Luton have lost their captain and their goalscorer. Leicester finished last season in good form.

Also Swindon @3.00 against Hartlepool. Hartlepool have lost their main man in Boyd and will not be as strong at home as they once were. Swindon I expect to win the league. Wise has recruited well and Swindon held their own against us last week.

I will also be backing against QPR in every match at the start of the season- I expect them to really struggle. That means backing Burnley @1.91.

And in Palace @2.75 and you have agreat return on just 4 games.

ElwissAtMemphis

I've just looked at a coupon for the first time tonight (for no particularly good reason, I only ever bet on English matches) Looking at last season's tables and using my usual guesswork, there's 7 matches on Saturday in which the home team finished higher than their visitors for which the odds for a home win are EVENS or better.

That's not to say that they're particularly likely to end as home wins. As I said before, I just pick matches for their odds as much as for the likelihood of a home win, but I'd go for a combination of these (using William Hills odds)

Leeds v Norwich : EVS
Luton v Leicester : 11-8
Brentford v Blackpool : EVS
Grimsby v Boston : EVS
Lincoln v Notts County : 23-20
Peterborough v Bristol Rovers : 23-20
Wycombe v Wrexham : EVS

(I usually tend to think that local derbies should be avoided so Grimsby v Boston might be a bit dodgy.) These 7 matches gives odds of about 175-1. If you skip the Grimsby game, it's 88-1.

I always have a fiver on 5 aways (5 bets @ 80p on a four fold and 1 on a 5 fold), it occasioanly pays. Though have plenty of weeks where I've got none.

this week.

2 Crystal Palace @ 13/8

4 Accrington Stanley @ 23/10

Tell me about it.

Actually Lincoln v Notts Co ended as draw as well but from my 7 selections, I still got 5 homes & 2 draws. I should have done one of paf's permutation thingies, but I was always crap at that sort of thing in maths so I tend to avoid them.

You should always do a perm.Any 5 from 6 is usually the best this allows one result to go tits and you still get a return and if all 6 hit then its happy days. Also look out for the bogey teams bit I think in the Racing Post, you`d be supprised how often this is acurate.

I had all 6 home wins with 90 minutes up which look destined to earn me over 200. Then sodding Lincoln equalized at Torquay ... and then got a winner in injury tme just to rub it in. To make matters worse, I'm totally skint at the moment and that money would seriously have improved my quality of life this week. Too stressful.

yes most annoying i have to say. Its always the way with an accumulator, one of the "bankers" always seems to let you down and in this instance cost me a 10-1 shot.

C'est la vie !!

i do them in the bookies. they have coupons in there, all you have to do is mark the boxes next to the games you fancy, win, lose or draw, then mark the accumalator box. most bookies use a computerised system now. they'll give you a receipt with your stake and what it'll pay out if all your results are correct !

thats one on there, 'upcoming matches' lists all weekend games, you have to mark your selections on the list and will have to open an account to play online. i prefer to use a pen and paper in the bookies its easier all round

Have got an accumulator on this weeks Champions League:
Liverpool to beat Bordeaux
PSV to beat Galatasaray
Roma to beat Olympiakos
AC Milan to beat Anderlecht
Arsenal to beat CSKA Moscow
Lyon to beat Kiev
Real Madrid to beat Steaua Bucharest
Man Utd to beat Copenhagen

10 stakes pay about 80 (they didn't give me the total but I tried to work it out from their individual market odds).

I used to do those types of accumalaters but got fed up of losing everytime. Now usally do trebles and quadruples with trixies to cover my arse.

Try 'Harrys Nap' (betting column with Harry Redknapp) in the Sun every Saturday. You can't go far wrong with him as he always does three four trebles and an accumalater. The week before last he stunningly put Norwich to beat Cardiff and the other three came off for a very nice result indeed.

WOLVES v Leeds

Returns 402.53, not amazing considering thats 7 games. If I had have gone with those seven as well as:

CARDIFF v Preston

10 would return a whopping 905.70

I quite fancy a draw for Preston Cardiff, i think this weekend will suffer a lot of European hangovers.

Might go with these this week (all to win):

Man Utd
Liverpool
Soton
Colchester
Scunthorpe
Oldham
Hartlepool
Celtic
Gretna
Oxford

1 returns 98 on Coral.

If anyone has some good tips please advise me as I'm well in need of a win this weekend!

What's peoples opinions on 1/7 shots? To me it's not worth the added value when putting in with a 6 team acca, just in case although I can see why you would put them in simply because they will win.

Anyhow, am going for:
