I'll be getting it sometime next week, before friday :)
Has anyone ordered it via the sigames website, at umbro.com? They're saying that you're guaranteed your copy on or before release day.
May need Friday off in that case :D

I have to do something with my time and we are getting increasingly bored at school and finding more... controversial.. things to pass the time with.
Played the demo version, absolute quality even better than the others. You can give the board ultimatums and give warnings to players.Terrific stuff

So have the stats for Palace been sorted out as in the demo they're are loads of inaccuracies. Don't know why I'm asking I'm in final year of my degree, if I get that game I know it will all go pear shaped.

This i do not know, testing finished on Sept 19th and i finished testing on Sept 1st (i had to go back to school). This was before the demo was released, so i do not know.
How about, when i get my game (before friday i think) i will look at Palace and mention what is there, ok?

I had a thread that asked people what was wrong with the Palace team in the demo.
I sent the corrections to Marc Vaughan and he has assured me that they will be made. :p

i work at a software place testing stuff. we have a contact at eidos and, of course, got them to deliver a lovely brand spanking new copy over before release. had a look at palace and....no real changes. clint and dougie still have stats that look rubbish, we still have no defence, and jovan and aki have been seriously nerfed - all their stats are lower than last year.
i do believe that the guys that made champ man are everton fans - which might explain a few things....seeing as we beat them in the worthy cup. but they couldn't be that bitter could they?

Well, I got mine yesterday, got home, installed it and played it last night. First Impressions:
Not worth £20, this is really just an update with a few new rules chucked in. It crashed badly, and I played the normal and GDI versions, which didn't make me very happy. No doubt they will release a patch for it which actually makes it a playable game.
The Palace stats are pretty crap, and I do think they have badly got Clint and Doog wrong. Also, why is Glen Cockerill still a coach, yet Steve Vickers is on loan? It's just little things, but it does piss me off that they can't get them right.

i am really annoyed with this CM patch that has been bought out today - its 18mb!!....which means if you haven't got a nuclear internet connection it will take 30 years to download.
not impressed.

Sorry. The game is brand new, just got released, and there is already a patch. That is a disgrace.

Kind of. As far as I know it only fixes one bug. The rest of the patch is to bring the game up to date with transfers. I don't think that is a bad thing really. Oh, it also lets you play in numerous other languages - if your clever and can speak more than one that is, unlike moi!

I have never played a CM game before and have been quite interested in buying this new one out!
A questiong for all of you who have played the game is it worth it or as i'm a beginner should i just buy the old one as it will of course be cheaper!

I know what you mean. I can't help thinking not maximum effort was putting into this version, especially with CM4 just around the corner. I'm hoping they've kept all the nice new stuff for then, rather than letting their standards drop.

Next week - didn't you know? You haven't gone and spent £20 on something that will be out of date soon have you?! ;)
Seriously, I think CM4 gets released late next year, but who knows - games these days tend to suffer from delays. I reckon it will be out early 2003.

I hope the patch is out now though...

What a load of old guff get's talked on these boards.
I've played CM for more years than I care to remember and I still eagerly wait for the new developements. This one is an improvement on 2000/1, although not a huge one. The game engine doesn't seem to be quite as predictable as 2000/1 (admittedly, I've only played it for one evening). The fog of war is great, if an extreme pain in the rearside. Scouting your next opponents is an excellent function. The other stuff - board ultimatums, new transfer system - I haven't come across/understand fully, but it looks promising.
Worth £20 for 12 months entertainment? What else are you going to do with the money. In my case, it probably works out at about 5p an hour - for a lot of you a lot less.
If you are that cheesed off with it, go back to playing CM2 and see how you like it. Every developement maid by SI has been gradual.
Still, I agree that putting out a patch on the day of release is taking the p*ss.

A ripped version was also released on the same day as release.
Games companies must do more about protection if they dont want to see this sort of thing.

There was one released on the day i got mine too, i find that a little bit weird. It might mean that someone who received a complimentary copy early may have uploaded it...

Yeah, it was released on the 10th October 2001 by Myth. The source could be any of a number of places, like magazines, duplication warehouses etc.

Ok, I've had a weekend of playing CM01/02, and all I can say is - What a load of rubbish! How they call this a 'new' release is beyond me.
It feels like a half-hearted effort - obviously they had their minds focused on CM4 when they were programming this.
BIG BIG disapointment.

Have to agree. Also, how many 5-5 scorelines are there??
Crazy.
They've done this before. They release a game that doesn't work properly, has a few simple changes, and charge £20 for it. Still, I paid it so I guess that makes me a mug.
Fog of war is an excellent idea though.

My first 2 games were an 8-2 away win at Stockport and a 6-0 home win over Crewe!!!!
Not that im complaining but it is a tad unrealistic!!!!
The stats were still wrong as well. Matthew, Cartwright and Cockerill aren't coaches at Palace anymore and should have been replaced by Derek Broadley, Murray Jones and Vic Bettinelli who is the unofficial goalkeeping coach.
I thoughts the Palace team had been sorted out!!!!
I prefered the backgrounds on 00/01 as well, there was more variation and it was better have pictures of the club grounds.

The changes this time are due to contracting things and the money charged by certain companies to ue their photographs.

Good point about the staff being wrong. If they managed to get Vickers there on loan, why is that tosser Cockerill still on the staff. First thing I did was sack him. Also, where is Kabba?

I asked everyone what was wrong with the demo data ages ago - and all the corrections I sent to them were made apart from Cockerill not being our coach anymore.
We had our chance to correct it then, but not that many people replied!

To be fair, I remember quite a few people replying!!!
People were mainly mentioning youngsters like Routledge, Gareth Williams and others like Kabba, Gooding and Kember being added.
The stats aren't to bad, its only the coaches and a few missing players.
