Six inches where I live and still falling heavily. Amazed that Taunton is still on. Somehow the snow, coming in from the west, missed out the south west.

incorrect.
hewitt's davis cup record is 2nd to none.
clay will be fine for hewitt, better for him than vliegen.
19/9 on it in proper tournaments in the past 5 years. vliegen is 19/24 on it.
vliegen not in great form, and fundamentally hewitt a much better player.
market correct.

Stig, as you know I only came in, very late, to help out when someone dropped out. I'm sure there are people who have been knocked out who are keen to stay in, and I'm not sure it's right that I take one of the places when I shouldn't have been in it in the first place. Plus, I'm off to Africa half way through next week, and don't return until late Friday week, so would effectively miss most of the next two matches anyway.
Bearing in mind all the above, I'm happy to let one of the people who didn't quite make it take my place in the next round.

Really sorry Stig. Been out.
As usual, I hadn't known the rules. I'd thought that the next round was 1 week long, and the one after that. And in the unlikely event that I survived the next round, I wouldn't know I had done so until the following round was virtually over. But you've since explained the next round lasts two weeks. So by making most of my bets early, I can take part if the place is still available and would be happy to do so.
But I am still a bit concerned that I wasn't supposed to be in this, and feel guilty about taking the place of one of the others. I don't know who the next best person would be who you would put in my place if I wasn't in it, but if that person feels strongly about it, I will certainly give him my place without any complaints whatsoever.

Drifted from 10/3 out to 13/2 and finished a never nearer 4th/5th. I'd swear Paul Eddery was going very gently on it towards the finish as well. Ban it!
Mind you, that wasn't as bad as my only selection today coming to win its race and then being swallowed up by the 20/1 outsider of 6 runners. (In fact the horse was backed into 20's from 40/1 having shown not a glimmer of form previously).
Racing gets more bent by the day.

Cut to 2.38 with SJ, still 2.50 with Totesport. Getting shorter all the time, quite a few bookies have him down to 2.10 now. Must have been reading the thread and seen that the JCM/Finbar brains trust were on.

The same finbar brains that back against Hendry at each and every opportunity... I doubt it JCM, maybe SJ has spread the word that your money is down though :p

I remember we all agreed it was unsporting, but that was when someone (who shall remain nameless) did it once he was ahead in his competition in order to guarantee a win.
At this early stage, I'm not sure I see a problem with it.

He followed the money I would think - there was no obvious reason why that one was a market mover this morning, but a market mover it was.
I notice I didn't get a well done from you for landing 4 form-based winning doubles in one bet last week though. :(
That's horse betting for you - lots of losing bets but the occasional wonderful longshot or multi. I can't imagine anything more boring than all these short-priced tennis, snooker or non-league football bets so many of you do, but each to their own. :p

Well I didn't duplicate a single bet of yours..(or multi for that matter), so I think I'm okay!?
In theory I could pick a 15 game multi and thus blocking all of your bets on those 15 games if we used such logic..
(Duplicated single bets will not bet allowed in the CH cup format, so first come first served. Same goes for duplicated multis.)

Cheers Finbar - bit peed off though. The last horse of the three I picked was a worthy favourite - they were mostly donkeys and the two or three others where there was a form line with him couldn't get near him on the book.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, a horse that finished 15 lengths behind him 2 weeks ago at the same track and over the same distance and who was only 2lbs better off at the weights came and won the race in a canter at 25/1.
And they wonder why people say horse-racing is bent.
