He is apparently available for 2 million http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/eek.gif . If we can offer 3m for someone who can't really score, then surely 2m for a Norway international must be a bargain.

I have to agree, if its true, after all he is a quality striker...

After reading today that Ostenstad is available for only £2m - I think he would be the ideal signing for us - big powerful AND scores goals - and with £1m left over we can buy Lua Lua from Colchester.

Agree he could be a good buy. How old is he? I imagine one of the attractions of Beattie was that he is still young and therefore would still command a transfer fee if we sold him for two or three years yet - isn't 24 the magic age?

Agree with the comments above and I'm sure he'd join us.
I'd still rather not spend 3 million on someone with such an un-impressive goals per game ratio - especially when we already have a striker in that bracket !!

On the other hand, he's made no sort of impression at Blackburn and I distinctly remember him being pants at Selhurst Park last season.
The fee might be reasonable but I doubt the wages would be. Blackburn will be paying him a hell of a lot more than Southampton will be paying Beattie and we allegedly couldn't afford his wages.

Saints fans here at work really rate Beattie .. .do not let the lack of goals fool you, he is a target man who has set up numerous goals for team mates.. although with Clinton's head up is own arse he may not score them !
Ostenstad however they were quite happy to see go, the one thing we need a big man for is because our munchkins up front do **** all in the air and to quite one of the Saints fans here "He couldn't jump of a chair".

Ostenstad would be a good buy i think, creativity wise. Although I think he might have a tendancy to dribble up his own arse.
