I am a CM fan in dire straights!
I haven't had the new (well old now) version of cm long. I am Palace boss and have won only ONE game in FOURTEEN! Morrison is s h i t. Harris is my joint top scorer, along with Ruddock. YES I KNOW, RUDDOCK!
Does anyone know of any good bargain players? Have looked at Leon Knight (Chelsea youngster - that so many people say is excellent) but he's worse than Clinton.

Tonton Zola Mokouko of Derby always does the trick :p :p
You should be able to snnap up Kevin Gallacher on the cheap... great Division One player
and try Paul Dillon of Crewe
oh, and give Woozley lots of first team games... he will become a sh*t hot defender

Leon Knight as scored loads for me, also Aaron Cable scores loads.
Nobody specific, but maybe try for a few loan signings to tide you over until you can make the right purchases. Try searching for unhappy or players who have requested a transfer as they want first team football.
Acutally, if you can sign him, I bought someone called Christian Wilhelmsson (or something like that), who was great for me.
Try David Collins (Burnley I think), he always bangs in the goals for me.
Tonton Zola Moukoko (Derby) is pretty good too.

I think there have been a lot of threads to this effect in the past. Try a search in the CM forum over the last million days or whatever. The other recommendations on this thread are all good but I have had truckloads of success with the following:
1) Use the default 4132 formation but take off pressing and go to normal tackling. Also designate all midfielders to zonal marking;
2) Buy these bargins if still available (some speeling dubious):
Ian Ross
Iain Durrant
Johan Andersson
Marcus Allback
Andreas Andersson
Alan Archibald
Tommi Gronlund
Stefan Giglio
Someone Gustavson or Micheal Danielsson (Swedish left backs)
Dionissos Chiotis
3) Break the bank for Kennedy Bakircioglu, Tonton Zola Mokouko and Jukka Hakala. All become studs and even start out strong.
4) Keep Clint but check his game tactics. If you put him as the left hand striker in the formation above, he'll bang in goals all the time. Alongside Allback, he scored 36 in the first season. Tommy Black turns into a star, so play him. Ruddock's safe as are Pollock, Mullins, Roger and Smith. Sell Harrison.
To do all this, you'll have to start a new game but you should be able to do a lot of it even with what you've got now.

All excellent advice to which I would add:-
GK:- Don't know who you are playing, but Digby is better than Kolinko.
However try and sign Mark Tyler from Peterboro, goes on to become the England goalie.
CB:- Ronnie Wallwork is rock solid especially if teamed up with Clint Hill. Although as mentioned Woozley is pretty good too.
A few more good attacking midfielders that always do well are:-
Ritchie Partridge
Leon Kantleberg
Martin Rowlands
Anders Svensson
Julian Gray also turns into a good player, especially when coming off the bench. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (striker) is another player worth checking out.

Peter Westman of Orebro comes for about 100k and is a really solid keeper (handling 16).

Howe of Bournemouth is alright, but to be fair i have not seen Palace do well at all :(
In my 0001 game, season 18, they are a mid table Div 2 side and have been for a while now.

I always assume you all know the players a lot better than me. However, there is one player who has been a scoring sensation for me, that never seems to get mentioned in any of the lists people produce whenever this type of thread is started.
His name is Kenneth Abrahamsen (a Dane). I got him for £20k in my first season with Northampton in Division 2. He has been top scorer each season, bar the first when he was second top having joined half way through. In my most recent season (my fourth) Northampton won the Premiership by a record margin, and he scored 43 goals in 46 matches (inc cup-ties) so almost a goal per game.
What a bargain for £20k! Has anyone else had him?
