I've got next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off and I intend to get all my ironing done, sort out my wardrobe and get myself sorted at home. Mum bless her does a bit of ironing but I don't want her having to stand up all day and not rest. I'm taking her home Easter Monday. Shall miss her when she goes!

She's been with us since 23rd February. Himself and Loopy are wonderful I must say as most blokes/families would have got right fed up of having mother in law to stay that long.

She's doing really well and we've finally heard from Lambeth that the work to Norwood cemetery is starting in June. Thank F*** as they say!

It's really annoying and I've been writing long letters of complaint since Dad was cremated in November 2005 (is it really that long ago???).

The rose gardens needed to be revamped and moved about so mum couldn't have a plaque or rose in his memory which is causing her immense grief (literally). We were about 20 on a list so god only knows how many are on the list after us. To be a tad difficult we want Dad's plaque next to my nan and grandad and an uncle so we've had to make sure that we know all their details too.

Lambeth are really hopeless there's no other word.

The worse part of it is that I would never have agreed to having his ashes scattered in the Garden of Rembrance if I'd have known it was going to take this long. I would have had them at home in the garden.

It's been really stressful to say the least!

As I never usually watch programmes like this - I really can't believe what I'm seeing

They draw you into them though - bit like a moth to a flame!

How many times do I have to say the same thing??! On another thread someone is still moaning that Lombardo didn't turn up for Kember's testimonial - that was 2 years ago!! FFS!! :bash:

BaldEagle96
17-04-2007, 08:09 AM
I saw that this morning but then like that person I had no idea what the story behind it was or wasn't - just knew he was "rumoured" to be there and then he wasn't. :)

Princess
17-04-2007, 08:14 AM
It was hugely frustrating for us and we genuinely believed he would be there. Flights had been paid for and hotels booked but then he just didn't turn up. It's one of the most difficult things to deal with, especially when it's a big name. Same with Geoff's recent game, we had originally said that Wrighty would be playing but when we knew he wasn't, we said he wasn't!

I used to sponsor a big charity golf tournament put on by the Taverners when I was in Plymouth and every year you had a major star name not turn up along with a few B listers. Quite often not even a phone call to say they were not coming! Needless to say the people who had paid good money to play with this star were not impressed when they found out on the day that they were playing with some C list celeb!

Princess
17-04-2007, 08:34 AM
My point exactly! Total nightmare and then some people think you've just put the name about to improve the numbers!

BaldEagle96
17-04-2007, 09:08 AM
And of course that never happens... :D

Princess
17-04-2007, 09:12 AM
Stop it!!

Florence
17-04-2007, 10:12 AM
We have had a reverse of that happen to us. Our charity ball used to have a "name" to attract more numbers but we gave up in the end as the celebrity ended up a wash out.

We had Cliff Morgan (I think that was his name) as the patron of a charity that we'd supported a few years ago. He was so very boring. People were getting up and going to the bar mid-speech. :S:
