Having got my 2001/02 Palace side to 1st in the 1st Division, leading it by 6 points, with only 5 games to go, in the latest CM game, I reached the landmark fixture of Crewe Alex, away. I played the game, using 100% fit players, the same side+subs as I normally used, with the same tactics (4-3-3) that I use for away games. I lost 5-0! Angered, I cheated, I control-alt-deleted and replayed the match, not once, but 30 times. I changed tactics (tried them all) alternated players, positions of players, 'went on holiday' blah blah blah.... I lost every game, ranging from 0-2 to 2-6, I never even drew one!!!

This made me think. In reality would a lower to mid-table Crewe Alexandra beat a Crystal Palace side unbeaten in ten games, top of the league and with as fit and better rated players 30 times in a row at home, by huge(ish) margins, time after time after time after time? Could it be that sometimes, whatever strategy you employ, the game is pre-programmed for you to lose? No matter what you do??

i say just get on with it, and do the next game, every team has its comeuppance ( Fulham at Grimsby) so this is yours

I have a very nice and well-paid job, youth! Just deal with the question, rather than making judgements about people. Is the game fixed at certain points? I say it is.

I played Everton 78 times before I gave up in a 3rd round Worthington tie. I was in the 2nd Div at the time so no big players. Won promotion to the 1st Div after beating Burnley in the play-ff in the same season, after 84 attempts.

Soon after I discovered a game editor ...

No the game is played in *real* time. It doesn't work out the scores before the game starts and it also doesn't decide who is going to win. If I was the programmer though I would make sure that if the game wasn't closed down in the normal way - I would make sure the player lost his next game. Just a thought......

See the thread New CM - I'll buy it if...

And welcome to the CM paranoia club van Niewenhuyze :)

Yes, it is fixed, the game is insane and designed by a sadist. But I still play it. :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:
