View Full Version : most depressing music ever??
Diamanda Galas, not sure if anyone went to her rip roaring knees up at the Albert Hall..........
But looking at some of her popular ditties.......
gloomy sunday
wild women with steak knives
crucify
The Litanies of Satan
let us praise the masters of slow death
This Is The Law Of The Plague
You Must Be Certain Of The Devil
death letter
insane asylum
birds of death
I waske up and see the face of the devil
See that my grave is kept clean
C**t
I imagine that 'roll out the barrel' was the encore and her cover of YMCA is rocking too.
I think she has issues. I reccomend Audiogalaxy for a listen if you need cheering up.
Anyone more miserable than that?
If you want a laugh, download C**t, it;s only 50 secs.. a cracking tune..... classic.

CRUCIFY YOUR MIND
2:30
Was it a huntsman or a player
That made you pay the cost
That now assumes relaxed positions
And prostitutes your loss?
Were you tortured by your own thirst
In those pleasures that you seek
That made you Tom the curious
That makes you James the weak?
And you claim you got something going
Something you call unique
But I've seen your self-pity showing
And the tears rolled down your cheeks.
Soon you know I'll leave you
And I'll never look behind
'Cos I was born for the purpose
That crucifies your mind.
So con, convince your mirror
As you've always done before
Giving substance to shadows
Giving substance ever more.
And you assume you got something to offer
Secrets shiny and new
But how much of you is repetition
That you didn't whisper to him too

Indeed doctor......
may I also reccomend, the cheery cover of 'Life is Life' by Laibach and the sing-along version of 'Lets get Physical' covered superbly by The Revolting Cocks.

Funny... always found him to be sort of invigourating and uplifting... unless you are *really* down already and then it bites I guess.
I'm suprised no-one has said The Smiths yet... Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now etc... again... top tunes always put a bounce in my step :)

Ah but, like, Creep... you may have felt rock bottom but then you realise even multi-million album selling international rock bands have depressing feelings even more negative than your own... therefore it lifts you. We are all creeps together, yeah, we are not in baywatch, but we are still people. hehe.

I watched the South Bank Show about Elbow, and they seemed to be interminably dull. The shots of the sad ****s in the crowd crying as they were singing along was very depressing.

Love me a good miserable tune. Here's a contender from one of my favourite ever bands, (props to hilairehair).

I always thought Nick Cave's music was very depressing. I bought Grinderman a coupld of years back and found it really hard work AND depressing.

I ******* love Coil, and this. Most seem to find them terribly gloomy however.
Grinderman is some of Mr Cave's more up-tempo work.
