Hmmm how come no does this cheap yet?! Asda is £16 online but 2 - 4 week dispatch! Might goto local asda and see if they have it. Although that said couldn't make an online game until next Thursday as I seem to remember me and swanny have a previous engagement next Tuesday night ;)

I got my quake 4 on pre-owend for £22.00 at gamestation. I'm not sure is that is expensive or not.

If i can pick this up cheap I'll be in. Is the frame rate much of an issue? Just read that it makes game unplayable at times.

Ok, I should be able to get a game in tonight, but I have not even opened this bad boy yet, so just a question, are the controls relatively easy to master (30 mins or so) as otherwise I will be cannon fodder and if we are in teams I will hinder one, big time.

It's a great shooter mate. Loading times are a bit of a pain, but graphically and atmospherically it's superb. The only thing that let it down was the online mode and apparantly, that's been fixed :lux:

Getting angry now! WHSmith now say its "on order" with the supplier, despite saying it was "in stock" when I ordered.
I've tried to find an online game the other evening, it was either down or nobody was actually playing.
I got online okay the other day. I got my arse kicked, but I got on :)

cumbrian, how much will you pay for it? I know it is in my local game preowned, they were doing 2 for 40 so I would assume it will be 30. If you want I will buy it and send it to you tomorrow. You will have it then by thursday and you can pay me by sending me a cheque to cover the game and postage.

I've had a potter about on single player, and due to it being an online wilderness, one hours gaming consisted of 5 very short multiplayer games, 4 i got to obliterate new players from somewhere up north, and one game where some serious guys were playing and I didn't shoot a soul. so not really much help. I gave up after it searching and connecting for another 15 minutes. Pointless.

Played this for 10 minutes last night before i was dragged off by Belly to be slaughtered many times on GoW. I'll be on at somepoint, may not be till 9.30ish though (will try for earlier though), and those 10 mins last night were my first, so be gentle ;) :D

I've just left, that was the most fun I've had on the 360, really good fun and really close games, first to 20, the score was often 20/19/18. Pretty much everyone got to win. The GOW players were the worst, which ties in nicely with what I said about my own GOW play, ie good at Quake, shit at GOW. So different are the playing styles, yet which ever style you are used to is the one you try and use.Hence seeing players trying to look or sneak........ BOOM !!!!

I thought it was more the case that most of us had never really played before :D I read the book last night 10 mins before the start, thought I would get a bit of practice in on campaign, but after the long cut scene I managed to open the first door before Neil invited me in :eek:
So I reckon it is just down to lack of knowledge rather than a GOW/Quake difference. I ended the last 2 games on 14 so it is just a bit of practice that is needed I reckon, next time Paf I am sure it will be a leveller playing field.
Great fun though, not as technical as GOW, so a kill does not have the same satisfaction, but the respawn option keeps it high octain action which is really great and makes you not really care about dying so its gung ho gunslinging all the way. I must say though that my weapon of choice was that highpowered machine gun thingy, that gave me the most satisfaction when slaughtering another one of you guys.
Great fun will definately have to do it again soon. :cool:
I will be in the port manor tomorrow before (probably from about 1) and afterwards (god knows when I will leave). So if anyone can remember me from my cameo appearance at the xbox meet come and say hello.

No I know, I wasnt try to say that you were. I played quake 1 and still have 3 dooms on my pc. I had quake 2 on ps1 but never really got into playing it, as I liked the first quake which had a more medievel feel to it. So I am into both really, its just I have never really played an ID shooter on a console, so it was all a bit new last night. I will be better next time ;)
I must say the jumping about was great to, good fun.
I hope that last night was not a one off as it is less about thinking on quake and more about running about a splating anyone you see. So it is a good release and pure unadultarated fun :p

Oh, and for those that are reading this thread and want a piece of the action, Quake 4 is apparently very hard to come by in the shops due to it being deleted - possibly ahead of a budget release.
CeX do have a second hand copy that I saw today, which is available for £18.

Trying to sort the broadband out now so I have minimum disruption. Hopefully the woman we are buying from will be leaving her number as if so we can start the process now of setting it up . If she decides to take her number with her though we need to wait til we move in and then it will take even longer :sob:
