Well why not?
he has put in a transfer request and is complaining they have no ambition - we do!

or, let's not.

Gooders why on earth would you not want Southgate back. Ok so his wages would be out of our league and it will never happen but he was a fantastic player for us!

Nothing against Southgate, I like him. But we can't afford him, his wages are way out of our league and besides it's time for a new beginning.

He wasn't a fantastic player for us. He didn't start to bloom until he went to Villa. Nah, let's not bother.

This whole "let's buy back so-and-so" thing is going to go on for MONTHS.

1. because we let go so many players, there are hundreds out there who could fall into this category
2. we have limited resources to buy back anyone half-decent (let alone pay them)
3. the reasons behind any one player departing are often not those made known.

Dodgy business, if you ask me.....

Bring back Gareth Southgate
Bring back Chris Coleman
Bring back bloody Ian Wright

And if he’s still alive bring back Budgie as goalkeeper too !

These people are Palace history. Let’s keep it that way.

Because I happen to agree with Sandy.

Plus, I don't even think he's that good now. By English standards he's OK but "a fantastic player"? I think not.

The first signs of our summer appear to have caused a few people to have sun stroke. As we are obviously entering the reals of fantasy this is the team I would like at Selhurst next season and fully expect Jordan to spend his cash now. Martyn,Roberto Carlos, Blanc,Maldini,Figo,Zidane,Keane,Davids, Morrison and Henry. Manager -obviously Sir Stevie on a vastly improved contract.

Hold on a minute it wasn't a suggestion of who to buy

these boards have gone a little flat since the take-over

There is no way we will buy him but some people really need to take a chill pill!

GG - no one is upset are they? You asked why not (and clearly you realised that his pay is out of our reach, quite apart from anything else) and we're just offering our opinions - healthy debate.

I have always thought Mr Southgate an overrated player. He's solid enough but there is nothing "exciting" about him, as evidenced by the fact that there appears to be absolutely no interest from anywhere in signing him!

You're right, the BBS has gone a bit flat since the takeover, it's been said on another thread that people are 'suffering from battle fatigue'. Lets get realistic though, what is the point of saying 'shall we buy [insert ex Palace player]'?

We are stuck with promising youngsters/lower division players. Lets get a sound financial base first and then we can look at proper signings. I couldn't believe some people actiually thought we might sign Ray Parlour earlier in the month!

Face facts, Coleman, Southgate, Bradbury, Jansen, Dyer or Shipperly are NOT coming back. Be prepared for a new era of Coppell discoveries, and be proud of them. Speculation is great fun, but lets keep it realistic, eh guys?
