Has anyone bothered buying a mouse and keyboard for their 360 to play FPS games and if so, does it really create the same feeling as playing on a PC?
I don't like playing FPS games with a control pad...

Just to balance things out- on the down side... The online lobbys are not the best. They don't have an option to do both un-ranked games AND ranked games, you can't party up like you could do in Halo, you sometimes get put into a game half way through, you rank up too quickly (I'm pretty bad and yet im up to level 20 something), there are a few problems with the servers, you can't do co-op.... and yet it is the best game I have played!

Got this on the PS3 and tried for the first time to play online last night. PES works fine online, but COD disconnects stating that I have parental access denied on the playstation network. Looked into my account and there's no way to edit it.. Anyone else had this?

Got that bit done, very good sense of achievement because it is not easy and needs a little bit of thought. All guns blazing is not always the best policy :p

this game is quality both on and offline! only a few levels into the single player though im too addicted to the online. the helicopter bit with the heat vision is awesome

Any ideas I am in the campaign level where you chase some Russian bloke through a scrap yard then onto the street where you get attacked by dogs and plenty of bad guys.
And if you dont keep up with the Russian bloke your mission has failed.
But what a game!
I think it is the last level on act 2

Dont think I am there yet. I have just completed the sniper missions set years before, that was one of the best levels in any game I have played. Loved the whole creeping about bit.

I think that level is the one before, yeah have to agree that level was somehing else especially when you lay in the grass and the bad guys walk past you.

Yep, thats the one. Also the bit where you shoot the 2 blokes in the river then run right through the mass of bad guys without them realising what was going on.
Walking through the derilict city was also very good, it looks so lifelike.
I am so glad I bought this considering my dislike of COD3

Have you completed the level where you carry your captain then take a sniper position behind the ferris wheel.
I must admit I am really hooked on this game looking forward to completing it then you can access the arcade version
I will then test my skills on the online...

I didnt end up taking a sniper position behind the ferris wheel, it seemed nearly impossible to get the job done from there.

Will complete CoD3 first as a friend has lent it to me in exchange for Bioshock, have to say it's utter pants next the CoD2.

Completed the campaign last night, its a bit short but to be honest the game play makes up for it...
Good thing now is you can access the arcade mode and upload you best scores on each level and compare with friends.
The AI of the bad guys was something else
Also liked the fact when you shot someone they didnt vanish like most games also when you shot them in the leg they rolled and crawled around the ground...enjoyed the sniper scenes head shots ect..

There are 55 ranks online and as you progress you open up many features.
Once you attain the first 55 ranks you can then start the prestige ranks.
On PC most of the games secrets can only be opened up through the above method.
A full free game guide is now available on the IGN website.
30 player Team Death-Match is awsome with no lag.

I've just completed the campaign in Normal setting and a few games online. Utterly brilliant game. A total rollercoaster ride. Loved it, and although I'm totally pants online, I'm going to persevere :p

The servers have started to really annoy me. I would guess that 40% of my online games have been riddled with lag and the games often get stopped by the host half way through. Spoiling it a bit for me now! Anyone else?

Me too finished last night, great game.
i had a go online last night too, the blokes on there were really good, but when I shot people they did not seem to die. Also made the mistake of going to close to a kill and they detonated a grenade, rats!

Just completed it too. Its good, but the campaign is very short :(. The arcade mode is good fun though. Need to get my live subscription back up to try online.
I hate this game...... i have done no work for my course for weeks!!

This is the best game on live. When you reach skill level 56 you can reset it and start again,You can do this for 10 times and each time you do it you get a medal.:)

Still playing this game a lot. Only play team deathmatch though. Hardcore team deathmatch is really difficult IMO. Whats everyones longest kill streak? Ive reached 16 then got stabbed

I can't stop playing this game online! Racked up over a days play now.
Rank of 41 now. Getting pretty good. Have a kill ratio of 2:1 and my accuracy is just over 20%. I only really ply free-for-alls and I have 87 wins and 71 losses. Not bad as I had about 4 wins, 50 losses at one stage.

Maybe I'm missing something. I'm finding it just like CoD 3 but in a different time.
Very linear, waves and waves of enemy until you find the 'back' route around the fighting, and no help from your squad mates. Are they actually able to kill anyone?

Its probably because i'm a relatively old codger in gaming terms but its only now i'm on level 30 online that i'm actuallly competitive and generally kill more
than be killed. some of the people on there are amazing!!!! I found it almost impossible at the start!!

Played it some more, and yet again I am in the middle of a huge fire-fight, and get killed again and again by grenades that just happen to explode just by me every time. Seems like the whole of Baghdad is just out to get little ol' me.
Having a struggle to find the back route on this mission, but I know I'll find it if I keep re-starting and re-looking. Trouble is, I'm getting a bit bored of looking for it on this mission.

I didn't play COD3 (or any of the others for that matter) but I love it, and I'm not really a FPS player normally.
The campaign feels epic and drags you in and there are some very nice set pieces. Squad mates are more than competent (I was playing on regular though).

Hi guys, got this game on PS3 and I'm having trouble connecting to a mate online. I've had no problem playing other people just nobody I'm 'friends' with. It comes up with NOTICE: Unable to connect to game session. Any clues? What I/He is doing wrong?

I had a quick game with the tartman and dixon360 online, and aided people on getting a better ranking....how hard is it when you are a rookie.....the only thing I was excellent at was being killed :o

Just out of curiosity, is there any chance of getting around 8 BBS players together for a blast of search and destroy. I'm surprised there haven't been any sessions 'cos it's a great game.. Unless I just keep missing them?

is the max rank you can reach online lvl 55 on the 360? I have it on the pc and have been stuck on level 55 for ages (got a nice gold desert eagle) and was wondering if they might increase the rank cap at some point?

AFAIK 55 is the limit - I think you should be able to reset your rank to one and continue though.

In the barracks their should be a prestige mode which you can do. This will reset your rank but give you a different badge. You will lose all your weapons, scopes, perks and challenges. but not your points, kills, game modes ect. You can work through 55 levels upto 10 imes, getting a different badge everytime

I regretted doing prestige especially at first when you have no decent weapons, custom classes or perks! Especially 3 frag grenades. But im on about level 23 now second time round its not so bad once you get to there and doesnt take anywhere near as long second time round. plus its easier to get xp points when you have to earn all your guns and challenges again.
I have to say though i dont know what a nade launcher is??? do you mean the grenade launcher? I do like that thing but hardly ever use it as it sacrifices having a decent scope or a first perk and i love my red dot sight + frag grenades/claymores. I normally stick it on one of my custom classes. They are great on smaller maps especially vacant. Me and my mates call it the Fla-domp cos of the sound it makes as you fire it! :)

When I started as soon as I saw an enemy I started spraying my bullets but more often than not you just miss and alert the enemy to your position at the same time. You've gotta use the LT aim and aim properly rather than aiming in the general direction.
Also, if running across open areas, always sprint (and generally keep moving).

BW is of course correct. sprint, cover, left trigger, fire is how to play.
best way to start off online is to find a good hiding place and kill the ones that come your way by aiming well and when you get more confident be more active. when you have the red dot sight it gets so much easier

On the Playstation site it talks about patches for Call of Duty and how it fixes issues. I mainly want to fix the playing your mates issue really and I can't find anything else on it, so thought I'd try the patches.

I'm still having no end of grief with this game. My mate has spoken to the guys in the US and they have told him he needs to forward ports and stuff and change the DMZ to the ps3 (not sure exactly about that cause I've not read the email). But as kind of a techy newbie, we haven't got the foggiest how to do it all. If anyone can give me a laymans term break down for a technical retard, or just give me any cluse what all the above means, it would be greatly appreciated.
Until then i'll just kill people thousands of miles away, as my mate from 3 miles away is just too dam far!!

I dont think it will stop you. But i have trouble connecting to people who live a few miles away sometimes. You game may automatically search for people from the US. I'm sure there is a way of solving it though. Paf might know

I just read on another forum that the USA version has had patches that the EU version hasnt yet so you wont be able to play people from Europe/UK until/if they do. I would just go buy a UK copy mate lol. See if you can get a refund on yours or get the person who bought you it to give you the money for being a noob

Its the same on the 360, when the yanks are involved. I was warned in a lobby that this particular game was not for low ranking players like me (I am about 4 or something and everyone else was in the 40 area) I said I would take my chances if they did not mind, I was told that this "could hurt alot and become very messy" at that point I took my headset off, its a fooking game not real war :rolleyes: :D
Oh and I ended up SECOND bottom in the game :lux:

Recently it seems the Americans had some sort of online patch. Since that patch it doesnt look like Americans can pay Europeans.
That would make sense as I cant remember hearing any Americans recently. Only in the first few of weeks of the games release.

No there isn't. There was on COD 3 where you could play on different servers etc. COD 4 just find you the best match automatically.
WinterJ They've been going on about this patch on the PS3 forum for ages. Affinity Ward (Who make COD 4) are blaming Playstation Europe for the delay in getting it to us and vice versa but it sorts out loads of problems like host ended match and the connection issues which some users have been encountering.
But lo and behold the Yanks get it first and we now can't play them because we are now using a different version to them and the two are not compatible.
Personally i need a way of finding other shit players :P

I played online for the first time last night and I got my ass handed to me. I'm not sure really what I'm doing, but I wasn't finishing in dead last at least. Something that was troubling, people seemed to be impervious to my bullets. I was unloading on this guy with my sniper rifle from 10 feet and he wasn't dying, he ran up an knifed me to death. And people seem to be able to get 1 shot kills on me no problem.

depends what perks they have, if they have a perk giving them extra health, twinned with the fact that the first sniper rifle is shit damage-wise and only effective at long range.
i'd use the M16a4, it's more accurate than your usual spray and pray guns

Also depends where you're shooting. One or two bullets in the head/chest will kill you off whereas you may have to unload a lot more if you're hitting him in the arm/legs. If you were using a sniper rifle at 10 feet, are you sure you were actually hitting?!

On the ship map just stick to the sides and hope for the best!! As for that other one (show down I think its called) Get up the stairs crouch and plant claymores by the stairs and shoot anything that comes near you.

Those are good suggestions. Remember to Use a sub machine gun on this level as most of your kills are going to be close range. I use P90/MP5 with stopping power and steady aim/marytrdom sometimes with silencer

I do like this set-up its a great all-rounder. Personally I would rather have x3 frag grenades as if i do run out of bullets i like the rush of sprinting round to find another gun with hopefully plenty of bullets in, you never know what you're gona get! adds to the excitment for me :)
My gun choice tends to depend on my mood. If i want to go around flanking campers/snipers on bigger maps or just going rambo on a smaller map it'll be a sub machine gun sometimes with uav jammer and a silencer.
If i fancy picking people off from medium/long distance I'll whip out the old faithful M16A4.
Saying that I use all the guns including snipers as i want to get all my challenges and the golden guns :) my least favourite has to be the LMGs though!
So its normally
P90/M16A4/Sniper/G36C with the final one being whatever gun I am trying to earn challenges for currently MP5
my perks are normally
Smoke(team objectives)/Flashbang(deathmatches)
x3 frags / Claymores / C4 (depends on game type)

Martyrdom/Last Stand or iron lungs for sniping.

I'm still suck and I'm trying to build up my XP, but I usually use the RPD (plus red dot) with x3 Special grenades, juggernaut and Stopping power, or the deep penetration or whatever. My strategy right now is camping, but I like a camp, kill, pick up the dead man's gun (hopefully its sweet) then run like hell right into the nearest firefight.
I almost had the kill of the century over the weekend. Was in one of the Arab city environments and on a high floor when the call for 30 seconds came, I ran down the hall and jumped out the window. As I'm coming down, I notice a guy right under me. As I'm about to land on him, I try and knife him but whiff woefully. As we start shooting, another guy comes up from behind and caps us both.

Trying to level some of the weapons up but its a bit painful (although running round with the shotgun and Martydom quake / doom style can be great fun even when your shite like me).
Anyone know a site where it lists what levels (not rank) you unlock the different guns. Cheers

Use the grip If you have the double tap perk.

Its all down to personal taste! i prefer red dot on most of my weapons

I prefer red dot too. I like having the perk of extra ammo too can be handy as i always seem to run out for ammo when I really need it. I love the perk of carrying 2 primary weapons too.

Depends how u play the grip is good for supresive fire like u no were there gonna come just keep shooting there with a RPD you will be suprised how many u kill doing this.

I tried out the grip last night and it worked pretty well in the short time I used it. It seems to reduce the recoil, which is really a problem for me cause I end up aiming all over the place. I don't have a problem with running out of ammo, as I'm usually dead before that's a problem.

i now love the G3, use overkill and have a grenade launcher on a G36C3 and obviously use martyrdom which bags you 3+ kills every game. done.

my sis has just purchased this game as it says its a 2 player game, but she cant seem to get two players on the screen? Does anyone know how to?

Multiplayer -> Split Screen? You can't play co-op campaign.
Just restarted playing this after a week or two. So rubbish :D

I tried using the G3, but I am still kinda crap and need the security of an automatic weapon. I can't wait to get the Overkill perk and load up on 2 main weapons, that'll be nice. I also discovered I don't like the ACOG sight, cuts down too much on my peripheral vision when I'm not using a sniper rifle. I'll stick with the red dot or grip. I'm actually using the M60E4 with the grip a lot. Only picking up the P90 if I find it, but otherwise not going with anybody else's weapons.

Overkill is a bit pointless imo. Don't see the situation where you'd ever need two different weapons, over extra damage say. Maybe for a sniper, but still, if you want to be a sniper it'd be best to have a concentrated setup rather than being a jack of all trades, master of none type.

I want it to do 2 things. Mix a sniper rifle with a close quarters weapon, for the objective missions. (the weapon I use will be dependent on whether I can get to the objective) Having my second weapon be the shotgun, so I can use it occasionally to build up my shotgun stats. For completeness purposes, cause I'm not sure if I'll really like any of the shotguns.

I think the only split-screen mode you can play is a versus. You can't go against computer controlled enemies. (Which sucks) Unless of course they put it in COD5.

Its probably my biggest annoyance with the game. but i will forgive it for bein so great in many other areas :)
Hopefully my co-op needs will be catered to with Army of Two and Haze. Jst need to hope they are decent games!

Apparently some of the weapons share the same ammo as well, including one of the sniper rifles and the G3 which means you get double ammo as well as the different weapon types...
