You can buy the map pack from the PSN store under games, then add-on content i think. Here is a little vid i put together of the map packs :)

COD4 online uses a peer 2 peer method for hosting games so if you are getting a few "host ended game" messages its normally luck of the draw and not the fault of Sony/Microsoft servers as there are none for this game. It often happens when the game chooses a host who hasn't got a good connection. Normally if you try coming back out to the main lobby or a different game mode for a few games you should be ok.

Right now Infinity Ward is in the testing process and determining wether the gametypes can be added into the game without having a patch. Their plan is to add around 8 gametypes into the playlist. The ones that can be added without any major tweaks to the game will be updated to the game seperately to the ones that need code work implemented into them.
So far there is only one gametype that is confirmed to not need a patch, but that is only how far they have gotten so far. They plan to have four release without a patch and 4 with a patch. They have mentioned some new gametypes as well, check them out after the break.

Hardcore Ricochet Playlist - Currently Testing
We’re currently testing this playlist now to see if a patch will be required for it or not. We should know soon. This is the No Teamkilling playlist. Any damage a teamkiller attempts to do to their team mates is reflected onto themselves only. Therefore, if they attempt to shoot an RPG into the ground at the beginning of the match; the only person who will YouFoss is a slovenian seen, is the Teamkiller. This eliminates the fear of being shot in the back by some asshole, but still encourages players to play tactically and not throw random nades, because if you accidentally hit a teammate, you’re only going to end up killing yourself and they’ll go unharmed. No Teamkilling, No Random Nades. This playlist will include the variant for Hardcore Teamdeathmatch, Hardcore Search and Destroy, and Hardcore HQ.
Sudden Death Sabotage - Currently Testing
Sabotage with no respawns. Fast-paced and intense Sabotage. No more hiding with the bomb until time runs out for sudden death. Increased XP per kills to encourage Team Deathmatch mentality. Defend your objective, while attempting to secure the bomb and plant on theirs. Once you’re dead, you’re dead. No second chances. We’re currently testing to see if this can be implemented without a patch.
Second Chance Search and Destroy - Currently Testing
Search and Destroy with 1 respawn each. This completely revamps your Search and Destroy tactics. No longer will lucky frag or well-placed claymore end your chance of victory. Each player has 1 respawn, creating longer more thoughout attack / defend strategies. Eliminate enemy players, and cut off their reinforcements while you defuse.
Team Elimination (Last Man Standing) - Patch Required
3 round Team Deathmatch w/ no respawns. Switch sides each round. Problem: Round Switch Glitch

Hardcore Headquarters - No Patch Required
Testing is completed for Hardcore HQ. This playlist has standard HQ rules w/ Hardcore Settings. Limited HUD, Increased Bullet Damage, and Friendly Fire Enabled.
Bare-Bones Team Deathmatch - Patch Required
Team Deathmatch with no perks and no air support. Problem: Slot 1 Perks Glitch
Hardcore Free for All - Patch Required
Free For All with Hardcore Settings. Problem: UAV glitch
Multi-Bomb Search and Destroy - Patch Required
Search and Destroy but all attackers spawn with a bomb. Problem: Planting Glitch
Keep in mind, none of this is officially confirmed as it hasn’t gone through the testing stages by Infinity Ward and Microsoft/Sony.

Holy crap, this sounds interesting. Does this mean that the attacking team can plant a bomb at both targets simultaneously?

I dont think so, you can play this is custom game already and its basically whoever plants first. The advantage to this mode is that if you make it to the bomb you can plant :)

Nah, no point. I prestiged a couple of times and realised it's madness getting to that gold cross and i'm just sticking with the 55. Especially with the new one coming out soon.

I have been. I'm at the red star thingy right now, about level 49. I'm gonna go all the way to level 55 on the gold cross, then go about completing all the challenges.

I'm going to try and make an effort to complete campaign mode before the new one arrives.
The 7 kill streak In COD:WAW Is a dog attack. Sounds like fun! They also have a perk to combat martyrdon.

On the Map Ambush, have been shown a glitch which enables you to get out of the map and to run about in the surrounding desert. You then can diappear underneath the map. It's quite mad.

Is that the one where you jump on top of another person towards the area where one team spawns in S&D? I've seen that once, but the guy was stuck when everybody got killed.
I heard something about new maps coming around the same time as WAW comes out. Shocking. Not sure if its true or not.

You can get out of most maps, with hardcore mode anyway, the freakiest thing is when you fall off the map and you just continue to fall for eternity lol

Dont think so - they just get different Camou until Blue, then they get gold plated as you hit a ridiculous number of kills.

Yo eagle mart ive been on gamebattles for nearly a year now! top site. in season one i was in the number one clan on the EU ladder. Bullet theory!
We also went into the tournament and won 1 thousands dollars to share out :D

No there aren't any more in prestige. All the guns are unlocked by level 55.
Bare in mind all the guns have 3 or 4 attachments to add on to them making them look different, they can all have 5 or 6 types of cammo, and when you have (i think!, shoot me if i'm wrong, i was told this the other day and am not sure on it's reliability) completed all the challenges and got 100 head shots with a certain weapon the weapon is available in gold. (As i say i'm not sure about this because i got a golden desert eagle when i was a level 54, i hadn't used a desert eagle once up until then and i certainly hadn't completed all the challenges)

To get the golden guns complete all the gun challenges in a certain class. I think its 150 kills and 150 headshots with each weapon.
Assault - Golden AK
Sub - Golden Mini Uzi
LMG - M60
Sniper - Draggy
Shoutgun - Bottom one!

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare offers multiplayer discounts and online giveaways this weekend.
Starting today, Xbox 360 players receive double experience points as well as half-price maps and the opportunity to play with the development team.
The Variety map pack, featuring four additional maps, will be halved to 400 Microsoft Points. Re-released Prestige gamer pics will also be free to download.
The event ends on Sunday evening, but a similar weekend for PlayStation 3 owners is planned for later this month.

I was quite lucky to get in that clan becuase it was the clan i was in from r6v andd we were on the ps3 ladder so its a bit easier.
we disbanded cause alot off them transferred over to xbox .:rolleyes: i only really play guitar hero now but i like to no whats going on with the game

Normally I would be but I'm gettin a liottle bored of the game now. I'm sure I'll be on over the weekend at some point. My best kill streak is 25!

I'm pretty sure I read a rumour that that stuff was coming out around the time of COD:WAW, but I would think that Activision would be pretty pissed about that.
Up to level 48 on the gold cross. Once I'm up to 55, I'll be able to start working thru all those challenges. Some are completely ridiculous, though.

The last bit of COD4 news is the playlists; which are currently in a holding pattern in MP design territory. They’re working on the issues I spoke about several weeks ago where the gametypes needed some gameplay balancing (i.e. Spawn Camping in Second Chance SD, Round ends too quick in Sudden Death Sabatoge). So at this point, I’m not going to make the same mistake twice and just hold off on saying anything until they’re completly finished. So…. just know we’re working on them and once they’re amazingly fun and finished, I’ll let you know. they’re coming out. Bummer. I know, but despite my willingness to cave under the sheer crave for the new playlists the MP Design team refuses to let anything out of their grasp until it is completely up to standard with their very high bar of quaility for multiplayer in Call of Duty 4…. and I don’t blame them.

I hadn't played this for around 4 months but started playing it a week or so ago. Not only did I realise how shite i'd suddenly got averaging about 3 kills per match (it's back up to around 17-18 on average now) but also how so many of your own team mates now try to kill you in a Hardcore match, whichever type, once or twice I can understand, but some prick was killing me everytime he saw me, which was pissing me off as twice he did it while I was on 6 straight kills. He kept sending me messages saying shoot me back and stuff, but I couldn't be bothered. He's also not the only one, at least once everytime I've switched it on someone is finishing with -80/-90. It's annoying that you lose your streak if killed by a team mate. Is anybody else finding this lately??

I think i had read either on here or gamespot that they weren't releasing anymore new maps or game modes for cod4 as Infinity Ward are busy working on their next game of the COD series. might only be for PC as I play on the PC. nothing has been released on it for ages after the 8th patch and free map packs.

Went on this earlier as its simply the best cod game, however, every single game I played (about 20!) was a hackers lobby, my rank dissapeared and my weapon when I go into a game are my hands :confused: WTF?

I wish they bought this exact same game out again. Took Out matyrdom, jugg, last stand and stopping power. Replaced them with popular new perks like scavenger. Gave us 20-30 new guns + attachments. 20+ new maps, new game types. used BO's KS system then that would be FPS HEAVEN!!
Well that's what MW2 should have been like but we all now how that went.

i played this game for days and days on the pc (on modded and private servers). was simply the best game i had ever played at that point and still is the best online game with BO's not too far behind.
like jx says if they re-released it with the crappy parts out and with some additions from BO's i would get it again!

Yep. I like your gameplays on YouTube btw, it's interesting watching people and realising just how shit I am.
Anyway, what do you think Activision/whoever is developing COD8 (I think the next one's COD 8 anyway) should do with the next game? I'd love a full length Vietnam game or a Korean War one. Actually, any war the SAS has been in as I loved their part in COD4.

This. I loved COD4, MW2 and WAW were awful and BlOps just isn't as good. COD4 had incredible SP despite its length, nearly every mission was epic and Veteran was just fantastic. The nuke bit was epic and the Chernobyl mission was just amazing, I've never played anything like it before. Going through the empty buildings was believable enough. The MP was very addicting as well, the MP5 will always be my favourite COD gun. Killstreaks weren't silly like they are now as well. Snipers weren't shit unlike in BlOps where I don't even bother using them now. Activision will never make a COD game as good as this ever again, especially since they have ruined Infinity Ward. Hopefully those who left IW and joined EA with Respawn will get the Modern Warfare license and make another great game. I heard that the reason MW2 was so shit is because Activision interfered too much when it was in development.
