Some of you will of course know this competition from last season;

Last year we started in November and ended in late April.
Seeing as we are starting earlier this year, I would suggest a competition that goes from now and until late December and then perhaps starting of a new competition in the new year...perhaps it all ending with a super final in May..winner from autumn 2007 against the Spring 2008 winner..or something.
As always looking for input on format changes and stuff..if you want to join just make a post on here.
The players will be seeded on their BM performances this year..
Format suggestion:
Groups of 4, the best two going through..the bottom two go into the UEFA cup. Head to head’s, home/away.
Example ; Tourno schedule:
1.stage:
Round 1 (weeks:34/35): match 1
Round 2 (36/37): match 2
Round 3 (38/39): match 3
Round 4 (40/41): Match 4
Round 5 (42/43): Match 5
Round 6 (44/45): Match 6
2.stage: (46/47): 8 teams
3. stage: (48/49): 4 teams
4. Stage: (50/51): 2 teams

I'd better skip this if that's ok, Stig. I'm having an angiogram in hospital on Friday, and they've warned that I could be kept in for other tests and treatment over the weekend. So I'm not certain to be able to take part. Really sorry to mess up the idea.

The thinking was to start the competition in week 34 (Round 1 (weeks:34/35): match 1), but if people want we could just start next week I guess!? Seems like most people have heard of it now, and the one’s that are interested have joined.
So we could say that the last day for people to join is this Saturday..and then I will do a draw on Sunday.
At the moment we’ve got 17 players..so unless there are more people joining in, we will have 1 group of 5.
(numbers just based on when they entered the competition..)

Well, after my first week in Dublin you can put me in after all Stig.
My new company have 3 dedicated PC's in the staff canteen which are not on the LAN and which staff can therefore use for all the sites that would ordinarily be out of bounds. Add the fact that every third shop is a Paddy Power bookies and I should be able to give the comp the attention it deserves. :p

20 people = 5 groups of 4 = the 5 winners and the 3 best number two’s going through to the knock-out stages of the CH.
In the UEFA Cup (after the CH group stages) we will then have 12 teams. 6 matches = the 3 winners + the best loser in the semis..
Think this can work..

Well my thinking was that last seasons competition was a bit messy and troublesome with 1 player having a break (two of the groups last season had 5 teams in them) from time to time.
After the matches the tables will of course indicate which of the number two’s that are currently in the knock-out stages of the CH.
But as always very open for suggestions ..what would YOU prefer?

The rules (simply put)
10 bets pr match (2 weeks pr match).
Two matches against each-other. Home/away rule; The “away team” will have to post up all their bets before the last day (will mean midnight Saturday’s). This giving the “home team” a slight advantage. You can of course bet on events taking place on the Sunday.
We are mainly using BM rules, that means for example that;
Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.
Players must quote where they're getting their prices.
After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..
The bets must be possible to do in real life.

Idea for the winter break, something crazy for us to pass the time. You have some sort of competition where people have like 10 bets a day or something crazy. I know that would be tough to keep up with, but it will be interesting to see a comp where people get all Flat Noodle circa Feb 2006.

It’s a difficult one, have thought long and hard about it. Seeing as we are using the “goal-difference” as a decider when it comes to players being on equal points, I would say that the same should be true when deciding about the 2.spots..But of course the other way might be more fairer = the player with the best total points-score going through.

Personally I think points scored is probably fairest to compare between different divisions as you could consistently build up a high points total only to be undone by a desperate hail mary, bit harsh to be punished twice for that (once for a lost match and once for points difference).
Of course am happy to go with your decision
