View Full Version : Martin Jol's last 45 minutes?

Anyone else watching the Spurs match on ITV4?
The commentator at half time has just said that they have heard that Martin Jol has agreed to leave the Spurs and that Ramos has agreed to become the new manager.
ITV have tried to get a response from Spurs but without success.
Absolute bizarre timing, during a Uefa Cup match, for it to be leaked/announced if true.

I was watching Everton on 5 i didnt realise this was on.
What a shame, i know i was awful about Taylor but he left with dignity. Jol has just been unlucky, wasted £16 mill on Bent, should have bought a good centre midfielder.
But he's been unlucky with his whole defence being out.
Good luck Jol, we could do with a good No.2 at the might Selhurst park.

Incredible isn't it. He was never the man to take them to fourth place, but the current mess isn't his fault either.
Agree he shouldn't have spent all that money on Bent when they are so lacking in midfield.

Agree with the sentiment guys, but the pedant in me must point out that Jol didnt spend any money on Bent or anyone else. There is a director of football chappy who is in charge of the cash and the signings. Jol didnt have any say in the purchases, just had to fit them into his team.
Wonder what that would do to our premiership signing if it was a Spurs player?

By all accounts he never wanted Bent.

Poor Jol.
Apart from Lennon who's coming back from injury it's a poor midfield.

Did they just show Palace's landlord Paul Zeitel Kemsley on the phone? I just turned it over.
PS strange how there's better TV on ITV 2 & 4 than on ITV these days.

Glad to see supporters are behind Jol.
SSN reporting it (saying that reports saying that he has been sacked)

Ladbrokes suspended the market on Ramos being the next Spurs manager BEFORE the game kicked off which is how it has become widely known.
Interesting though and affecting Palace is after the goal Levy was tapped on the shoulder and whispered at by the man who controls Selhurst. He is leaving the Spurs board! 2 + 2 = ?

Paul Zeitel Kelmsley.
Its a JV with Uberior the Private Equity part of HBOS - a pure property play.
At least according to the interview in property week in the Daily Mail / Jordan selling for £45 M thread in GPD.

Good luck Jol, we could do with a good No.2 at the might Selhurst park. Bent was not his signing - he asked for a fourth choice striker, a hard left back, and a class left winger. Commolli (sp) gave him Bent and Bale.

Jol tendered his resignation is what they are saying.
amazing that he took the last game after resigning

Now saying that it was Jol that tendered his resignation before the match.
It cant have been fun what with the media pressure, and hearing that your employer had been looking for a replacement whilst you were still in the job. Also, some of the spurs fans haven't exactly covered themselves with glory.

I note that they haven't mentioned Ramos since the first announcement at half time. Maybe that bit is rumour?

Surprised that none of the fans (although that could have been the editing or the question posed) interviewed coming out of the stadium seemed that bothered.

He steps down in December, according to reports.
I wonder if he'll have a nasty Christmas present for us

Maybe they should expand the Big Four, make it the Big Twelve. Shoot Michel Platini in the head, get a heavily-medicated Sir Trev into UEFA, get all 12 into the Champions League and then this sort of shit won't happen. For a while.

They seem to be speculating on Sky Sports now that they dont have anyone lined up, which would seem to make sense if Jol only handed in his resignation prior to the match tonight.
I dont think the fickle Spuds fans will be happy if that is the case. They also wont be happy unless they end up with a 'name' of a manager. Would be very funny if they end up with some piss poor replacement in the style of Bolton.

Players didnt know until after the match when Jol told them and then went round shaking the hands of the stunned players. Also saying that then Commoli (sp) came in, addressed the players, and said that Spurs had decided to terminate Jol's contract. So, did he resign or was he pushed?

Stunned players? Typical bunch of ••••• who pass for players these days. See the manager in trouble, and use the opportunity to cruise through the games. Not an ounce of bollocks in them.
Clive Allen to take temp charge it seems. Jeez:)

Well, the commentator specifically mentioned Ledley King and personally I dont feel he falls into your description. Others might.

feel sorry for Chris Hughton too. He's been at the Synagogue since 77 except for a three year stint somewhere else. Maybe him and Jol might take the Ireland job.

I thought the team I watched last night were playing out of their skin for their manager.
Spurs have turned into a farce, Jol and the team were unsettled by the announcement that they were looking at a replacement, and the director of football appointment always rocks the boat.
I've actually developed a soft spot for Spurs over the last few seasons, and like their penchant for buying young British players. They could be in trouble if they don't have a solid caretaker or there's an exodus in January.

Isn't Defoe's contract up at the end of the season? He'll be sold at a cut price if he wants to go.
