Anyone agree ? We are doing what Sunderland did last season. I think we will complete the job too. As NW said to Emma Jones a few minutes ago.......`Go for itī.

They were 'last seasons Palace'.

If we do keep this up we'll be 'doing a Palace' we wont be 'doing a Sunderland'.

"Doing a Palace" has definitely entered the football lexicon, I often hear it on footy phone-ins etc.

''Doing a Palace'' - to go from relegation places to the play-offs/promotion within one season.

Is this like pulling a 'Homer'?

I didn't mean doing a Sunderland. I know what that means and I know what doing a Palace means. What I meant was that Dunderland were similarly impressive in their charge up the table into the automatic promo places (which we didn't do in all fairness during the Dowie push). So, my only comparsion with them is that charge to automatic promo.

whatever we're doing, auto promo is a distinct possibility

How many points behind automatic were Sunderland last season?

At this stage I mean

About the same as us I think. They only went into automatic a few weeks from the end of the season. If anything, our charge is even more dramatic.

We played them just before Christmas and they still had a bit to do to make the playoffs although they had hit form. Of course they spent big in the transfer window didn't they?

They had 43 points at the corresponding stage, but i dont know where that put them in the table

Doing a Sunderland is being in the premiership for two seasons and still can't accumulate enough points to avoid relegation.

Doing a Palace means from going from the relegation zone to getting promoted

Sorted :)

At the end of December, having played 1 less game than we have this season, Sunderland had 37 points whilst we have 41, one game later. Basically, we're 'ahead' of Sunderland of last season.

We don't have the financial clout in the transfer market that they had last season though.
