View Full Version : Liverpool v Inter

As an Inter fan (second team obv.) I am really looking forward to this match and hopefully we can put a few past Liverpool although they always raise their game for the Champ League.

Lose heavily and Rafa might be out of a job.

The Inter squad looks very strong. I think Cambiasso is so underated. He is the heart of the team.

Mancini's squad for Liverpool v Inter:

Goalkeepers: 1 Francesco Toldo, 12 Julio Cesar, 22 Paolo Orlandoni.

Defenders: 2 Ivan Ramiro Cordoba, 4 Javier Zanetti, 6 Maxwell, 13 Maicon, 16 Nicolas Burdisso, 23 Marco Materazzi, 24 Nelson Rivas, 26 Cristian Chivu.

Midfielders: 5 Dejan Stankovic, 7 Luis Figo, 14 Patrick Vieira, 19 Esteban Cambiasso, 28 Maniche, 30 Pelé.

Strikers: 8 Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 9 Julio Ricardo Cruz, 18 Hernan Crespo, 29 David Suazo.

Inter will win this comfortably. Unbeaten in the league this season (!)and Liverpool are looking like anyone can beat them right now.

1-0 Inter win at Anfield with Ibrahimovic getting the goal, and they will finish them off with another 1-0 at the San Siro. Lots of effort from Liverpool, but no end product.

Yeah, fantastic domestic record. Won 18, drawn 5 and lost 0. Scored 48 and conceded 11.

Just hope they can bring that form into and achieve in the Champions League for a change.

Cambiasso is one of the world's most underated players. Fact.

Though the best player on the park tomorrow night will be either Ibra or Vieira.

Plus Crespo is still one of the world's best strikers.

Am I the only person who does not found the Champions League intresting at all?

The last game I watched was when Barca dicked the twats from North London in the final a few years back, and only then because I was cheering on the boys in Red & Blue.

I dislike the group stages although I find the knockout stages alright.

The atmosphere always seems dire as well at some games, it seems only the german & french teams who have the big terraces behind thier goals really get behind the sides.

inter's midfield seems to be its weakness. lots of experience but i think its getting on a bit and thats where liverpool might hope to control the game. in all other areas though inter are far superior. if liverpool score tomorrow night i would be surprised, and im semi-hoping for a 2 - 0 inter win if only to signal the end for rafa.

Vieira-Cambiasso = (or maybe better than) Gerrard-Mascherano. Figo-Stankovic or Babel-Benayoun? No contest. Lots of experiences, 'old', but that doesn't stop them from being bad players.

And yea, Inter are so much better in all other areas it's not even funny (perhaps except goalkeeper).

Inter are far superior to Liverpool but Liverpool in Europe are a different proposition. I take all four English clubs to progress (Man Utd to win tournament) and either Spurs or Everton to win the UEFA Cup.

No it was for pulling the player down when he was away from him.

Although replay looks like its a bit harsh as Torres went down a couple of hours after the tug!

Interesting with the red card. Liverpool will have to be very cute in the second half. Stevie G's hustle and bustle isn't enough to unlock an Italian defence on its own, so the key to the second half will be Lucas. And the back six, a clean sheet is essential.

Agreed, but the sending off still changed the outcome of the game. If it hadn't occurred then there was the possibility that Inter could have weathered the storm, steadied, and come back into it. They would have surely offered more going forwards if they hadn't been down to 10 men.

I got into a cab in Milan and asked to go to the San Siro. I was on my own and I am as fluent in Italian as I am in Bislama.

He looked at me blankly and replied very quickly in a language I don't speak. After me repeating San Siro loudly and clearly several times (in proper English fashion) it was clear we were at somewhat of an impasse.

When I found a taxi driver who spoke English I then learnt that San Siro is the region so it was akin to me asking to go to Croydon and the driver presumably saying 'wheareabouts?'. Better to call the stadium by it's name!

I do, ofcourse, accept that it is normally called the San Siro in England.

Ok - rematch time but it doesn't look too promising for Inter who have some serious problems in defence.

Most notably Ivan Cordoba, who was excellent in the first leg before going off injured, and Materazzi.

But good news in that it seems that Ibrahimovic has recovered from a knee injury and will start up front.

Lot to ask of Inter tonight up front. Be nice to get an early goal but you gotta strongly fancy Liverpool's chances.
