Anyone who wishes to take part in the betting masters '52 must “register” (post on this thread) before the end of 18 of April.
Rules are as follows
1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.
2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single game is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis.
3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start on 0 points, but the winner from the first round will get an additional 10 points (1 bet) to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. (*if the number of participants get’s to 17 or more, then a 5 finalist place will be added).
4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the 01 of April (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on Sunday 20/04/08. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on and out April month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the 30, April.
5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score on April 1.
6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.
7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.
8 Singles and upwards accepted.
9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.
10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2
11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.
12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.
13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..
14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed

Does anyone want to do 50 bets this month rather than the usual 4 in the final round. Every 3 months we could do the 50 bet special as it keeps everyone interested.
btw I thought I would post this as Stigma is not around atm.

Hey everyone i have a query that im taking up with Stan James and i just can't get my head round it and it's annoying me.
Yesterday i put 20 quid each way on Tamrai Dancer in the 17.35 race at Folkestone it finished 3rd. Eight runners went to post but one was withdrawn at post after i placed my bet. Bookmakers only paid the first two aswell as putting in a 10p rule 4. Is that wrong? Why wasn't i paid the place it wasnt my fault that only 7 ran, i was betting on 3 places when i placed my bet.
They are adament and are saying its an industry wide thing but i just cannot get my head around it

No, they were right, bookies only pay out 3rd place if 8 or more actually run, so in your case only 7 ran so it's only paid to 2 places irrespective of how many go to post
Betfair place betting is different and the rules will state how many places are paid and that won't change no matter how many withdrawn

Agreed, though I think far worse is comparing the overrounds of the main fixed odds bookies to someone like Pinnacle or Betchronicle (not to mention exchanges)
For example tonight in the Arsenal vs Liverpool game Betchronicle & Pinnacle offer the best two odds for under 2.5 goals and offer the best two odds for over 2.5 goals, these kinds of markets they usually are
Getting the best price (on anything you can bet on pretty much) really is as easy as opening up 3 or 4 accounts, Betfair, Betdaq, Pinnacle and BetChronicle, you'll rarely miss out on the best price
Sorry, bookies taking the p*ss out of their customers is a pet hate of mine as you may have noticed!

I agree and to be honest i was astonished as i've never experienced a situation like this in the past. If i bet 3 places i expect to get 3 places :grrr: the customer services manager is going to call me back to discuss it with me as i queried it with the woman assistant and she got the hump with me questioning it. Think it's time for my to empty that account and move.

As Finbar says, all bookies do this. I agree that it's extremely unfair on you - especially because if the Rule 4 was 10p it obviously wasn't a very fancied horse that was withdrawn.
In the interests of customer relations, they should pay you out - tell them that'll be the last bet you'll place with them if they don't play ball.

They didn't even bother calling me back surprise surprise. As it's an industy wide thing theres not alot i can do but take it on the chin and know for next time. Very frustrating though

In fairness over the last few months it's been my 5/1 trebles which have made me the majority of my winnings, so far this month is a shocker and I reckon 130pts could well be enough to qualify
