I know it's a year or two on, but still....when's Clint Dempsey being unveiled?

There was a recent rumour about Jonathan Obika as well. Could be we're in for both or maybe Obika was back up in case the Sears deal fell through ?
We are certainly in the market for left sided 'pacey' wingers ... not just from Lewes either !

Tottenham starlet Danny Rose to join Crystal Palace on a 6month loan deal before the gillinham game
A six month loan starting on 1st August would take us to the end of the January transfer window so that may be the reason why we're dragging our heels in the transfer market. The last England U19 winger we signed on loan didn't do too badly for us either... (I do appreciate Rose has been capped at U21 level too)

Danny Fox never signed before the 11pm deadline, the deal was concluded the following day,so you see muppet,Fox was their wild card signing, and £2million for O'Connor wise up,McLeish wants rid of him,and he's going to Crystal Palace on loan,a typical tim posting crap on here without checking the facts, but hey that's nothing new is it?(I bet you don't print this).
Probably a load of rubbish - but would be well pleased if it turns out to be true.

Crystal Palace will finally solve their striking worries by completing two deals to bring in Gary McSheffrey and Stern John.
McSheffrey will be a season long loan deal from Birmingham with a view to a £1.5 million transfer if Palace can get a takeover.
Stern John joins on a 1 year deal with an extra year if he impresses in the season.
Neil Warnock has missed out on Frank Nouble to West Ham from Chelsea, but is still trying to complete a loan deal from the Hammers. Another target Leroy Lita looks set to join either Middlesborough,Sheffield United or Stoke City. Jerome Thomas is very unlikely to join as he looks set to earn a contract at Wolves.

CRYSTAL PALACE ins :
After the signing of Stern John and pottential arrival of Claude Davis NW has turned his attention to a holding midfield player, possibly Euguen Bopp or an audacious loan for Jack Cork from Chelsea or if he is lucky a cheap deal to sign Matty Pattison from Norwich.

Palace, L City, Leeds and Barnsley Are Interested in Pattison , Palace have yet to table a bid As theyre currently monitoring Darrel Russel's situation, And Only When/If Darrel moves to a different Club will they make an offer, So they could Miss out on Both. Barnsley started the bidding at 250k Which L City matched Before Leeds bid 300k The other clubs have now been told to match Leeds offer. When Curo Departs and we get The money From the sale of Pattison expect Gunny to put in a cheeky bid of Around 95,000 for Izale Mcleod.

He will sign from Sporting Gijon for £3m. However Coventry will resign Gary McSheffrey from Blues for a fee in the region of £600,000. Marcus Bent will move to Crystal Palace for £500,000. If we had 500k, I really would not want to spend it on him of all people. Wouldn't mind him on a cheapish loan for a few months though.
When Marcus Bent signed for Palace from Brentford, there was a clause which meant Palace paid Brentford every time Bent played.

True, but I thought Wright could play left back, a position we currently don't have a player for. When is Hills due back ? We need at least 2 more defenders, probably with the need for both of them to be versatile across the back line. Frankly, as much as I love the sound of decent players being linked we are so short of players, i'd hate to see us blow our pot on 1 or 2. sure that won't happen though.

I seriously doubt that, I believe Wright was brought in cause he's pretty versatile across the back line and we just lost Lawrence and Butterfield, makes sense to me. And selling Clyne, one of the best young fullbacks for 2 million, when Sheff Utd sold Naughton and Walker for 10 million last summer would be pretty damn stupid.

Selling Clyne would always be a mistake, just like selling Moses. Clyne will probably play for England and once he leaves Palace we will never get the chance to take him back.

Wright can play there, much like Clyne can its not his natural or best postion though.
Hills i'd imagine will be out for at least half the season.

What if Clyne went for 2 mil, and we could sign Boyd and Jackson that would surely be good business?
Especially as we have just got a right back on a free who i imagine would keep Clyne out the team.
Wright won't keep Clyme out of the team. They'll be the fullbacks until Hills is fit, then it will be Clyne with Wright or Hills. This apart. we sell a defender which we are short of to be replaced by strikers we have (if better are needed)

Whoever wrote that West Ham list comes from a severely special and limited gene pool.
Having re-read it, I think it was published a few days ago. It was quoted by this guy:
21 players in and 6 out. And you're giving this as fact!? (Ignoring that, just three posts earler, someone had posted even more 'facts' regarding players left out of this list that WILL be signed)
Some people on this site honestly make me lost faith in the human race.
I work part–time in the press office of a Championship club and I'm not always aware of a signing until it has been completed.
Whether you know someone who works at a club or not, I can gurantee they will be no wiser than the average fan when it comes to transfers.

Darren ambrose wants to stay with palace and will sign a new deal the new owners thrash out by Monday.
No word on nathaniel clyne but my sources assure me he'll be starting the season for palace.
Jordan from burnley is all but done, the delay being caused by a freak traffic accident and I've heard that palace have had an increased undisclosed bid for owen garvan accepted.
Clinton morrison is due a medical on Monday afternoon for palace but with stern john being released another striker is needed and I'm informed that gb is prep. a bid for Simeon Jackson although he may face competition from championship new boys millwall and Norwich, however he favours to stay in London and palace is his preferred destination but money may be an object.

Crystal Palace News
All has been very quiet lately, but I have heard from a source close to the club that Palace are to announce up to 4 signings next week. I believe one of them is the confirmation of Lewis Price's arrival from Derby County, but the other three signings are believed to be two midfielders and a striker. This would take Palace's total number of players signing to 7, but George Burley is very keen to reach the 10 mark due to the number of trialists which have played in the friendly games. It is evident that he wants more depth in the squad. As my source only knows that two midfielders will sign and a striker, I believe Burley will want another striker after that and a left back possibly.
The only information I can reveal is that one of the midfielders is understood to be Charlton Athletic's Jose Semedo, who is rumoured to of handed in a transfer request. I do not know that for a fact, I just know Burley is very interested to land him, especially after the disappointment of losing out on Barnsley's Hugo Colace. A holding midfielder is needed and Semedo would fit the bill perfectly, after Derry's transfer to QPR. Colace was approached and was set to sign last week, but unfortunately decided to show his loyalty to Barnsley and sign a new deal. The bid for Semedo is unknown, but it is understood to be an enquiry. There have been reports linking him to clubs such as Celtic and Wolfsburg, but Palace will hope to make the player their own in this transfer battle. If Palace do miss out, then a bid will be in place for either Sheffield Wednesday's Sean McAllister or Charlton's Therry Racon, as both clubs are unfortunately struggling financially and maybe tempted to sell up. However, none of these bids will be over the £500,000 mark, as is evident in the other midfielder we are close to signing in Owen Garvan of Ipswich Town. Our pursuit of him is public and a the deal should be done when a fee is met, as Garvan is very keen on the switch. The mystery striker we could be close to signing is a Premier League youngster, but our source has not been informed who this exciting player could be. My guess is one of Nile Ranger of Newcastle United, Zavon Hines of West Ham, James Vaughan of Everton or Scott Sinclair of Chelsea. Burley is thought to be keen on linking up with Chelsea and Arsenal to acquire their prospects on loan deals and Ryan Bertrand and Mark Randall are names which are up in the air at the moment. Bertrand is keen to join Palace, so if other Championship sides come in for him on loan, then I can only see him choosing us. That's all the information I know.

We're persisently being linked with this guy Racon from Charlton:
25 Jul 2010 20:03:50
After recently being released by Swansea, Guillem Bauza has turned his back on signing for Charlton Athletic after falling out with manager Phil Parkinson over the treatment of fellow Spaniard Miguel Llera. Although Llera will honour his contact at Charlton, Bauza will move across London this week to trial at Crystal Palace, where he will join Therry Racon who will agree a two year contract after being granted a free transfer away from Charlton who still need to significantly reduce thier playing staff costs for the forthcoming season. Charlton are now looking to the Scandinavian market to bolster thier squad ahead of season start, with Gunnar Thorvaldsson and Martin Fribrock already in London on trial.

I have heard from a source within the Chelsea youth and reserve management team that the club are not looking to sell but loan out their most promising youngsters. Scott Sinclair is believed to be given one more chance to go out on loan before he will be up for sale if he doesn't show signs of breaking into the side. Palace and QPR are after his signature on a season long loan, when the club do accept Sinclair has the choice of linking up with Warnock again at QPR or returning to Palace. Palace are also understood to be leading the chase for Ryan Bertrand. This is very likely to materialise as Chelsea believe clubs such as Palace, Reading and Watford give their youngsters valuable first team football. Reading are also after him, but it is understood Bertrand will be in favour of joining Palace. Patrick van Aanholt is set to leave on loan as well, with Bristol City close to tieing up a deal. Franco di Santo and Michael Mancienne are not for sale, but are being touted around the Premier League, so Chelsea could sell up or just loan them out again.

Bristol City to sign Dave Kitson from Stoke after finally agreeing the fee and wages. City are desparate for some fit players and have capitulated on the fees being asked. They've also had a bid accepted by Arsenal for Jay Simpson, but Palace are in the driving seat for him. He has no intention of going to Hull. Robert Koren also sounded out by City but it seems he's off to a team in the Midlands, not sure which one.

I actually think that this had got a large element of truth to it.
We're looking for a striker, and interested in Jordan Rhodes.
Huddersfield are interested in Alan Lee.
We are interested in signing Danny Rose, as we are in Anthony Wordsworth.
Neil Danns is stalling on a contract and it's no surprise Preston may be interested since it is close to his home(Liverpool), where he is missing.

15 Aug 2010 19:02:46
Jordan Rhodes to Palace looks very unlikely now with Huddersfueld wanting 2.5 million and Palace only prepared to pay 1 million. Therefore attentions have been turned to Charlie Austin and a Bournmeouth striker. Neil Danns has been given 10 days to decide whether he wants to sign new deal with Anthony Wordsworth earmarked as his replacement should he continue to stall. Southamptons Paul Wotton will be in Beckenham tomorrow to speak to Burley about possible loan deal.

£300k for Rhodes + Lee going the other way would be the deal of the Summer (sorry Lee fans). I just can't see that to be honest.

Kev were you at Leicester? Losing Lee from the side would be a disaster, Lee and Rhodes would be great, but based on what we have seen thus far, Lee is vital for us.
I was and indeed he did have a good game. That said he is a high earner, even at £6k per week which is the minimum we think he may be on, in the last year of his contract and is 32 in a couple of days.
No mention of a new deal as yet (so is available on a free come January).
Therefore if we can get a young goalscorer in on a lowish fee that has to be good even if we lose Lee which in the short term may hurt us but over the long term we have a far better prospect and further opportunity for transfer revenue.
Let's not forget it's only really been since the turn of the year that Lee has really come into his own.
I realise his value to the team but we slate Heskey but he has virtually the same career goals ratio that Lee does and at 32, like Heskey, potentially his best days are now behind him.

Length of contract and £x per week could be issues though GG.
I don't want Lee to leave but if it came down to him going and us getting Rhodes in for £300k it is a no-brainer. Purely in my opinion only.
GreatGonzo
16-08-2010, 10:50 AM
Sorry my point is that he cannot agree a contract with another club in January.
In terms of length and Salary i would be surprised if a League 1 side averaging 14.5k a game would compete too much with a Championship side averaging a little more.
If Burley wants him for next season i think there is a pretty good chance he will stay with us.
