I think its because its the emergency loan window and the longest an emergency loan can be is 3 months - which is why Vaughany was only on loan for three months last season, before coming back in Jan.

My point "Beanie" was referring to any loan signings we make during this emergency period which then expires in December, leaving us a period between then and the 1st January before we could possibly re-sign him or bring in another player, a question raised by "Great Gonzo". It was that in between period i was referring to that we use a member of our squad to cover that period.

In the summer I reported Crystal Palace's intrest in Juan Lopez who was on the verge of signing until Real Zaragoza stole the deal. That void has yet to be filled by Dougie Freedman and he is tracking Admira Wacker's pacy left midfielder Martin Zeman.
It is thought Palace are set to table a £400,000 sum.

When they have Kenny and Cerny who played so well at Anfield ? Don't think so. He was probably just injured today and we have 2 games in 48 hours. Price is growing on me though. I like the way he dominated his area and his communication with the back four is very good. Clean sheet today and only 2 conceded in the League Cup. Great back up keeper.

I know a bit about Zeman. He's a young left winger who done the business with Slavia Prague, where most talented young Czech's start out. He's raw, plenty of pace and will go past a man. Technically quite good too.

Was sent out to the Austrian top league to gain experience. Worth mentioning also he's short and doesn't have the strongest build so a move to the Championship isn't in his best interests IMO.

Still going on, he will face trial in April. As part of his bail, he's banned from visiting North Wales (he had to get permission from a Crown Court to visit his parents at Christmas).

Agreed - I doubt a club would be able to sack him and then sue him for the transfer fee if he's found guilty since they knew about the charges when they signed him (I'd guess Sheff Utd will have to do this, should he be found guilty).

Siphwie Tshabalala has landed in England today for his trial at the club, if he and Zeman joins the club this will allow Keiron Cadogan to go out on loan to Swindon Town for the rest of the season to join fellow team-mate Wesley Fordingham.

I have also been told by a few sources close to the club that there are 1 or 2 players from Norway that Dougie Freedman is trying to conclude deals for. These names have not been released yet as to keep their identity's secret in case other clubs try to hijack the deals.

Funny thing is we are a lot closer to Wigan now than we were before. Yes they would offer bigger wages but they are also aware that relegation is on the cards and I think Whelan is losing interest in them. Maynard is totally unproven as a PL player so would represent a big gamble for them.

For us, I cant see it happening but he would fit ideally in to our team as the pacey skillful striker to play off Murray, and would be the "marquee" striker we have been crying out for to get the crowds back (well, a bit at least!). If only we could sell Andrew, Easter and Dorman then things could get interesting.

I've watched M.Trotta for last couple of seasons play for Fulham u18s v Palace at both the home and away Academy fixtures. Out and out number 9, very good 1st touch, cool finisher. No surprise he averaged a goal a game on loan at Wycombe before returning to Fulham. Think he will end up as a Prem team CF by time he is 22.

With a few of the loaned players returning to their clubs in a few days time and the amount of our own players being put out to graze with other clubs, I have to wonder if we are going to have enough players to get through the rest of the season if something doesn't happen shortly. Thoughts

my worry too we really are short in a couple of areas defence an upfront. Either freedman is playing his cards close to his chest or maybe money is tight like one or two have mentioned. I would rather see clyne leave now then wait til the summer he isn't going to sign a new contract. The money could come in handy we could sign Tshabalala and Dumbuya but it seems we are waiting til there out of contract by that time they could have had a better offer.

Ins-
Tshabalala- Free transfer- Had a trial at Crystal Palace in January and is said to have agreed already that he is to join in the summer when his contract at Kaiser Chiefs expires.

David Norris- Dougie Freedman is said to be a fan of Norris. Tried to sign him when his contract expired at Ipswich last summer, now Portsmouth are relegated he is said to be trying to get him in the latest Pompey clearout.

Henri Lansbury- Loan- Freedman's looking at his midfield as a real area to improve due to lack of creativity and ability to carve out chances. Impressed with Lansbury's appearances in a West Ham shirt despite the few he actually had Freedman is said to be trying to sign him in the summer for the season though faces competition.

Lucas Piazon- Loan- With Palace's on-going trouble's infront of goal continuing Freedman is set to turn to hot-prospect Lucas Piazon in order to attempt to solve the on-going crisis. With Piazon still long from getting his Chelsea debut, Freedman is hoping he will be able to take Piazon in order to help him grow as a player and aid in the next campaign.

Jeffrey Bruma- Loan- Despite Freedman's reluctency to sign players on loan he is interested in making the defence more compact and aims to bring Bruma in following several previous loans to help sure up the defence and act as cover for Gardner and Mc Carthy.

Outs-

Nathaniel Clyne- Contract expires in the summer, Clyne has said he won't be signing a new contract and is looking for a possible route to the Premier League. Many teams having expressed interest.

Antonio Pedroza- Loan- Hasn't been a huge hit in the Crystal Palace side, Freedman is said to be looking at League One clubs to potentially loan Pedroza to.

David Wright- Taking up his coaching badges at the moment, could be retiring from the game to continue as a coach.

Jermaine Easter- Freedman's first signing as Palace boss has underperformed since arriving at Palace. Freedman is said to be looking at improving the squad starting from the front. Continued spectulation surrounds Wilfried Zaha though Freedman has expressed his desire to keep his young prospects and with Zaha in no rush to leave, having signed a 5 and a half year contract in January he looks set to stay unless a significant transfer fee comes in.

Palace turned down 7 million from Bolton in January so it looks like a significant sum will be needed if Palace's hold on Zaha is to loosen.
