What's the point of having a TV on if you are not going to watch it?

So now you can tell us why you'd want to go back and murder your grandfather.

Oh I wouldn't want to.

If I did that, then I'd never have been taken to Palace at such a young age and wouldn't be posting on here now.

Assuming I was even here in the first place, depending when I killed him. Not that I want to kill him.

So is spit :)

Actually, did you know that if you have blood on your t-shirt or something, if you rub it with your own spit, then you will remove the blood?

It has to be your blood and your spit though.

Seamstresses used to chew on a piece of cotton in olden days, then if they pricked their finger and left dots of blood on the garment, they would thread the needle with the cotton they had been chewing and run it through where the blood spots were, and they would disappear.

Don't try and be clever Jookbeard - it really doesn't suit you.

Islam is a monotheistic religion that is 'Abrahamic', that is it traces its origin to God's revelation to Abraham. It considers itself to be part of the series of revelations by God to humanity through the revelations of Judaism and Christianity. Islam declares that God revealed the Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was not the founder of a religion he created himself but who was the final prophet.

As is the case with religion, it's mostly down to interpretation. That's why there's always arguments. And you are right, this thread is one of my favourites. One of reasons is the light hearted nature of it. It would be a shame to spoil it now.

It was much more of a general BBS-wide rant prompted by Jookbeard vs Lizzy on this thread......

Still, do you have something you wish to confess, citizen?

Only that I do tend to go off topic on the odd occasion.

You know how it is, you think of something, then that leads to something else, then back to the original thought, then off again onto something else.

But I am trying not to do it :)

Although I've just done it. But that was to answer you :D

I think personalities come over on here as they would do in real life.

But it is harder to have a proper discussion on here as opposed to real life.

If I'm having a serious discussion or talk with someone, I'd much rather do it in real life.

There are little indicators above the dashboard that apparently change colour as you are getting near to something, and there is one in the back, but I didn't know it was there and I couldn't see it in the rear view mirror.
.You are meant to adjust the rear view mirror so you can see it.

If you can't see it you can't see out of the back window properly either.

I gave up organising our works one in the end. Apart from trying to get a date that everyone was happy with, the location always seemed to be a problem for some, then you get the ones that moan about the food, then the ones who moan about bringing their other half, then the ones who moan because they can't bring their other half

God never made "revelations" to Abraham, he may have to a certain extent to Moses but never Abraham, but the Apostle John was the recipient of more grander "revelations"

Last couple of days - being off work sick is shit. With the kids in nursery & the missus at work suddenly I'm faced with

1. No work, a legitimate reason not to be there and a whole world of endless possibilities. As soon as I ring them at 8:30 to confirm I'm off, the whole universe is my oyster for at least the rest of the day. I could go on a random drive, get drunk, throw a party, chat to mates, arrange a skydive, or just play music very loud and eat breakfast cereal in front of Sky Sports. Bliss.

2. Myself. A sluggish, sickly OAP with a serious stomach bug and the need to be within ten seconds of the toilet at any given time. No desire to eat, no energy to do anything daring, just me, a big empty house and a really irriting, whinging dog who comes and climbs up at me every time I sit down.

I sat, watched a few DVDs, got bored, realised nobody had texted me because everyone's at work, played FIFA, watched another DVD, checked my watch and I swear it was f*cking five minutes earlier than before I'd done all that.

John who wrote Revelation (singular) was not the apostle John, but otherwise you are spot on.

Also, today I have learnt that St Etheldreda's (near Ye Olde Mitre) is (apparently) the oldest OTF church in England.

check your New Testament indexes, the Apostle John did write the book of Revelation, if you can show me any evidence otherwise I'll agree with you.

That's certainly the tradition, which doesn't make it true. This is only from Wiki but there's loads of stuff you can read on textual analysis if that's your thing

Some modern scholarship[16] suggests that John the Apostle, John the Evangelist and John of Patmos were three separate individuals. This can be determined via new means of inquiry such as textual criticism. Certain lines of evidence suggest that John of Patmos wrote only Revelation, neither the Gospel of John nor the Johannine Epistles. For one, the author of Revelation identifies himself as "John" several times, but the author of the Gospel of John never identifies himself directly. While both works liken Jesus to a lamb, they consistently use different words for lamb when referring to him—the Gospel uses amnos, Revelation uses arnion.[17] Lastly, the Gospel is written in nearly flawless Greek, but Revelation contains grammatical errors and stylistic abnormalities which indicate its author may not have been as familiar with the Greek language as the Gospel's author.[18]

Most commentators accept Revelation to be the unified text of one writer.[19] Robert Henry Charles saw things slightly differently. He agreed that Revelation possessed an underlying original structure because the seven beatitudes, which exist unobtrusively in the text, have not been disturbed and that the first of these is right at the beginning (1:3) and the seventh near the end (22:7), Thus, prologue and epilogue are part of the original.[20] However, he reasoned on internal textual grounds, that the book was edited by someone who spoke no Hebrew and who wished to promote a different theology to John's. As a result, everything after 20:3 has been left in a haphazard state with no attempt to structure it logically as John would surely have done. Furthermore, the story of the defeat of the ten kingdoms has been deleted and replaced by 19:9 and 10.[21] John's theology of chastity has been replaced by the editor's theology of outright celibacy, which accounts for 14: 4 'they which were not defiled with women: for they are virgins', and which makes little sense when John's true church is symbolised as a bride of the Lamb. Most importantly, the editor has completely rewritten John's theology of the Millennium which is "emptied of all significance".[22] In the edited version, the martyrs when raised to glory, are "sitting on thrones in splendid idleness for full one thousand years" when, according to Charles, John's intention had been to show "the Millennial Reign is one of arduous spiritual toil" in which Christ and his martyrs evangelise the whole world, Jewish and Gentile.

It has been contended that the core verses of the book, in general chapters 4 through 22, are surviving records of the prophecies of John the Baptist.[23] The Lamb of God references in the Gospels are all associated with John the Baptist, and other hallmarks of Revelation can be tied to what is known of John the Baptist.

Today I learnt that at its premiere in Russia in 1892, The Nutcracker was considered a failure by the public and critics. Tschaikovsky died less than a year later, not knowing what a huge international success the ballet would later become.

And also a prima ballerina can complete 32 fouette turns, whilst staying in the exact same spot on the floor. After the turns, her pointe shoe tip is hot to the touch and is so worn out that it cannot be used again.
