Elephants are contagious!
Be careful how you tread.
An Elephant that's been trodden on
Should be confined to bed!
Leopards are contagious too.
Be careful tiny tots.
They don't give you a temperature
But lots and lots - of spots.
The Herring is a lucky fish
From all disease inured.
Should he be ill when caught at sea;
Immediately - he's cured!

I've just learnt that my stupid, stupid, STUPID Sage has decided it wants a space between the first and second letter of my password
It's never had a space before, but now it's decided it wants one. I've been trying to get into it for about 40 minutes, ranging from typing the password really quick, to really slow, typing the letters in pairs, then in 3's.
It's so arrogant.

I'm not sure it's helping to achieve anything. It's all such a mess and as hard as I try to sort one thing out, something else is wrong. Invoices are missing, other invoices have been photocopied and given to me twice, which I don't realise until I come to pay them. Cheque stubs have the wrong amounts on them. I seem to have spent all day today entering stuff then crediting stuff back off.
My audit trail looks a mess and I don't like my audit trail looking a mess.

And therein lies another little annoyance.
They had a VAT inspection about 2 years ago, so I went up there for the day as the VAT man would only visit the registered office.
All was going well, I had answers for everything he wanted to know, could show him everythign he wanted to see, then one of Mr Bs brothers walked in just as the VAT man and I were discussing the proportion of cold take-away to hot eat-ins.
His brother then piped up with, 'Oh, we don't really keep a record of that - we make it up'!
I could have died on the spot. He got 'the look', needless to say :D

This isn't really something I've learnt today - it's just something I realised.
Isn't it a nice, liberating feeling driving without a seatbelt on?
I always stop at the bottom of my road on my way home from work and post the mail, then I drive the last bit without a seatbelt on and it's lovely.
That's all :)
No, I can't say I agree with that.

After extensive research (on my part) I've come to the conclusion that seatbelts in cars were made for people over 5' 7".
Under that, and you risk severe damage to the jugular vein should you brake hard.

Yes the bonging does get on my nerves, but I've worked it out that if I plug the seat belt in, then sit on the seat, it doesn't bong, so makes the naughty experience even more exhilarating.

I know what my blood pressure is for the first time ever!
Also, Barbara with you on the seatbelt thing (being 5'4!), my nan has also said (she's 5ft) since her masectomy last year it's made things worse, as the seatbelt doesn't 'nestle' anymore but rides up against her one boob.
I love that my Nan is happy sharing things like that with me!

Gosh - I hope she is ok now :)
I don't find it nestles anyway - even with two. It's just annoying. I'm sure if I was in a head on collision, apart from slicing my jugular, I'm certain it would do irrepairable damage to the chest area

She's fine now, tbh the only ways it really effected her was having to go to Ashford everyday for chemotherapy (she lives in Lewes, so the journery, everyday for 3 weeks, took alot out of her) she's already said she won't bother with her three year check up as it's 'a load of bother over nothing'.

I got a dispensation letter when I was pregnant so I didn't have to wear a seatbelt.
I also found, the nearer I was to giving birth, that I needed longer legs as I had to keep moving my seat further back away from the steering wheel :D

Something I never got to do unfortunately. Got plenty of DVDs but it's not the same. Watched the Live Aid documentary last week and the way he had the whole stadium eating out of the palm of his hand was extraordinary. I've never seen anyone who comes close to Freddie for stage presence although Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters is very good. Like Freddie he's larger than life and flamboyant isn't the word.

Shame you didn't get to see him - he was quite mesmerising when on stage.
I saw him (or rather Queen) 3 times, the best being the 1986 concert at Wembley, which was in the wake of Live Aid in '85. And you're right - he certainly did have the whole place eating out of the palm of his hand.

I didn't realise Jo had it as her signature.
Would have saved a lot of trouble if one of us had just pointed Peter in that direction :D
I did think about it but then thought I would be dragging Sweetpea into it, and anyway it was not going to stop the bickering

I've just learnt that I'm a week behind.
I was just about to go home and was asked if I had done the wages for this month. No, says I, they aren't due in the bank until next Wednesay 28th.
Oops.

Well no, because I'm supposed to be here until 4.00 pm, but if I don't have much work, then I go home.
I'm still aiming to get out of here by 1.00 pm though ;)

Not really because I hadn't heard of the driver or any of the 85 people killed in the first place, so I wouldn't know whether I knew they were dead or not.

I think it was the right thread as what better reason exists for not knowing someone was dead than not realising they were ever alive in the first place.

And even more interesting and sad at the same time.
There was never an official death count and there has never been a memorial or anything set up for the victims.
Twas an horrendous accident.

Yes.
It clipped another car that drove in front of it, which then catapulted the car into the crowd. It exploded then broke up in lots of parts decapitating a lot of the victims :(
Race tracks were very badly designed back in the olde days.

Apparently the bonnet ripped off, which is what decapitated many in the crowd. It didn't help that the car was made of a magnesium alloy, which burned for several hours after the crash, not helped by fire marshals trying to put it out with water, which only exacerbated the situation

There was a certain amount of logic to their decision - if the race was stopped then 300,000 would have been leaving the area while ambulances were trying to get in & out. However, you would think there would have at least been wave yellows for a while (though I suspect these hi-tech innovations hadn't appeared at this point).
I couldn't believe the pits were actually on the main straight, not behind a wall as they are now. And it wasn't a wide straight either - only three cars wide. Must have been absolutely terrifying being a mechanic trying to change wheels with cars inches from you doing 190 mph

When you think about it, the whole thing was an accident just waiting to happen. I'm surprised there hadn't been more.
No protection for the main grandstand where the public stood, pits on a narrow part of the track which included a slight bend.

Clarkson makes a decent point when they are debating which is better; the Impreza or the Evo. He points out whichever is quicker/comfier/cheaper/better looking etc, they are both as quick as the rally-cars of a few decades ago. He goes on to point out how people would travel all the way to a rainy, cold woodland area somewhere in the sticks in Norway, risk literally their lives to watch a care hopefully speed past them in a flash. No, for circa 25-30k, you can own such a car. Madness.

Depending on who you speak to you might hear some of the following:
1 - We slept together
2 - We saw each other for a bit
3 - She turned me down after I begged her to go out with me
She sent different girls on the BBS PMs "warning" them about me but didn't actually say the same things to them and not only did they talk to each other, they talked to me :p

I have learnt that when my mate told me years ago that another mates wife had come onto him when he had stayed over at their house, that the woman in question, who I have not spoken to for over 15 years, has told me that he came onto her without me even bringing the subject up.
So I have learnt that someone is lying.
