I've been to Wembley twice with Palace, both for the play off final games. Perhaps Arsenal's customers take it for granted, but for me it was so special to be watching the Palace at this shabby yet awesome venue. However the total nerves and tention bought on by the realisation of what was at stake made me feel like someone had tied a knot in my stomach. Memories:

*My mate being sick on Wembley way, not through drinking, but through nerves.

*Sharing a can with the biggest fattest hardest Blades supporting Yorkshireman ever on that same walk to the stadium. He originally came up to me and asked me if Palace 'had any boys?', but when I told him we were just up for a party his mood changed...thankfully!

*That ridiculous pre Euro 96 over the top body search that many of us had to endure before the Leicester game, which it later became clear was for the benefit of the London Tonight cameras.

*Travelling down from the south coast where I lived at the time and seeing so many Palace fans on alien train stations miles from South London, where are they now?

*Loads of red n' blue maniacs jumping on an open top tourist bus outside the Duke of York and draping a Palace flag off it, whilst being photographed by bemused Japenese tourists.

*The piss ups at the Duke of York, the thing is did they actually sell any pints? Everyone was just drinking from cans.

* Victoria station crammed with Palace, the thing is before the Sheff Utd final we actually saw 2 fully decked out Wolves fans wandering amid the waves of Palace. Why?

*Andy Roberts scoring too early in 96.

*Freedman not squaring to Houghton who would of had a great chance to make it 2-0 in the same game.

*The poor atmosphere in the ground v Leicester.

*The following year, a vastly better atmosphere and that marvelous goal.

* The piss up in Croydon and Selhurst afterwards.

Sorry for going on!

* Mark H*ghes equalising in the final robbing us of our finest moment. Not a lot else would've have mattered after that, we would always have been able to say 'we beat Man U in the Cup Final' forever.

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I have many good memories of Wembley as well as bad. One of my proudest though was seeing big Jim Cannon lead the boys out for the Mercantile Credit tournament, and he was completely gutted when we lost to Wednesday on penalities after a goaless draw.

My favorite though is the Cup final first game in 1990. If only we could of held on for another 7 minutes it would of been a supurb day out.

The replay what a nightmare, terrible game, terrible kit, shit ref, we didn't play, and the Manc filth won.

ZDS - Never good day out on the beer, and saw Palace finally win at Wembley. Terrible game, and I'd rather won the FA Cup the previous year myself.

Leiscter play off- Terribel day out. In tears at the end. A terrible performace, completely guttted to see Nige in tears at the end of the game. Terrible atmosphere, viowed never to return.

Sheffield United play off - What a day out. Left my flat in Sunderland at 6am, at Victoria by 10am. Massive drinking session, brilliant atmosphere, sunny weather. Support in the stadium was supurb. Supurb goal by Hoppok. Celebrating on the train back up North surrounded by Blades fans, continued the celebration till 5am Tuesday morning, as I went clubbingh back up north and then to a party.

Undoubtedly the 1990 Cup Final - the beer had started flowing big-time the night before - all that Palace first time at Wembley (sorry, tomario, I could never accept the Mercantile Credit as a proper appearance). Nowadays with play-offs, semi-finals and the Autoglass, playing at Wembley is not such a big thing but in 1990 it was.

Those funny white Virgin tubes, seeing a group of Palace fans who had hired a Rolls and chauffeur for the day, driving past The Globe pub at Baker Street full of Palace fans and getting a huge roar when they saw the balloons and ribbons on the car, the knowledge that we were the lucky Palace 14,000 who had got tickets (an absolutely scandalous decision), the best goal celebrations ever and then bloody Mark Hughes ruined it for us and we knew that it was back to queuing round the Sainsbury's Car Park the next day.

Oh and I spent the whole day wondering whether my Friday night escapes were going to result in me becoming a father (the girl's family were all Millwall season ticket holders) - but that's another story ....

1) Standing in the aisle behind the goal during the cup final, with 8 minutes left and winning 3-2. I was almost crying and I remember thinking to myself "the whole world at last knows who we are". One minute later Mark Hughes ruined my life. To this day my blood boils when I think of him.
2) Duke of York before the Play-Off Final with Sheff Utd. Flags everywhere, red and blue faces. I remember standing on a skip singing my heart out along with all my mates.
3) Hopkins winner in the same game. Ballistic!!

I was only lickle when we got to the FA final, but I still remember just about everything about the day. Marvellous. The semi will always be the one that sticcks in my head. I'm filling up just thinking about it.

I personally enjoyed the ZDS game, the second half and etra time especially.

Those were the days.....

1990 first game was great, a great day, getting pissed in the duke of york when only seventeen, sleeping in sainsburys car park to get a ticket, don't want to mention the replay

ZDS 1991 - not a great game, but extr time was fun, laughing a southalls pap at the end.

leicester - nightmare, stood there for ten minutes at the end couldn't believe it. (mind you we would have lost on penalties)

sheff utd. not the best game but the right result. would have had hopkins children after the game.

finally my favorite wembley memory.

....going past wembley on the train back from Villa park and the whole train bursting into wembley, wembly we're the famous crystal palace and we're going to wembley.

Yes that was great Mike. The journey home was very quiet until then, we were all emotionally drained. Shattered. Second wind when we hit the pub though!
