My first ever Palace kit was the adidas sash kit as worn by Clive Allen et al from 181 to 1984.

Thats my all time favourite kit. I had that one as well.
My first kit was the 1975/6 Red 'n' Blue one. I think it was adidas, but it might have been Admiral.I got it for my 7th birthday.I think you had to sew the badge on yourself!!

My first kit was the red & blue Peter Taylor one, moody though, bought from the sports shop in Brigstock Road. And me mummy sewed on the badge in the middle with the no 11 on the back and on the sleeves as they had them then. I was chuffed a couple of seasons later when I received a real Umbro one from the club, with no 11 on the back and on the sleeves!!! Taylor was my hero and I can only hope he wore it just once! Probably a youth team shirt. I've still got it and kiss it regularly.

Early 80's sash again, I think made by Admiral, with the badge on the wrong side. It made my nipples bleed whenever I wore it. Palace and pain were there after associated.

The 72-73 Home top white, broad claret and blue bands with white band down the middle.
No badge and I can't even remember who got it or from where.Top shirt though even if it was made from some awful synthetic material.
Think I used to where it for about 6 weeks at a time so as you can imagine it had that lovely great smell of bloke about it http://cpfc.org/ubb/redface.gif

I think mine was the red away shirt with blue and white sash also. Certainly don't have it though. Usually get thrown away when they're old. Might still have a 1990 Virgin shirt back at my mum's though....

My Grandad bought me the 'Don Rogers' kit for my fifth christmas... Had a diagnal badge with an 'autographed' Crystal Palace.
Apparantly my Nan had to sew it on Chrismas Eve. First one I ever bought myself was the season we had Red n Blue stripes in the eighties (Under MullerySCUM) before reverting back to the sash!

It's strange, but when i was in junior school,i was given the Palace shirt from (i think) the 1966/67 season, which was sky blue with claret stripes-we only wore this kit for one season before it was changed to claret with blue stripes.I say strange because I wasn't even a Palace fan at this stage, but i loved this shirt as it was the only one of it's kind at my North London school, and i always felt that i stood out amongst all the Spurs and Arsenal shirts during games/PE lessons. This particular shirt didn't have a badge on it or anything, but i do wish it hadn't fallen apart 30 odd years ago!.

70/71 home kit claret & thin blue stripes with yellow collar & cuffs.
Like Fangtwang, I've got about 50 different shirts in boxes at home, add to that Sue's shirts and there are probably nearer 100 in the house.
Maybe we should have a retro kit meet-up at a game soon?

My first shirt was adidas circa 1981-83, away colours - blue silky material with a red diagonal sash and a sewn on "patch" badge. My grandma and grandad bought it for Xmas - grandad was a season ticket holder. I still have it - it's tiny! Don't have any colour pics of the players every wearing it, and I have tons of my Grandad's old programmes from those days.
They've just started doing retro versions of it in the club shop, but in heavy cotton, which bears no relation to the "feel" of it!

Back in 1973 I was bought the white with broad claret and blue band, which is very similar to this season's "Centenary" shirt. I was'nt actually a Palace fan at the time, but as I remember, the kit looked quite stunning compared to most other clubs.

Claret and Blue 68-9 shirt. Didn't have the embroidered "Crystal Palace" like my current TOFFS one though.
My mate Andy borrowed it when we played rugby at school and I had to wear it with an L shaped stitch from the neck for several years.

About 74/75, red and blue stripes... I wanted someone elses number on it (cant remember but maybe Don Rogere?), but Hewitts (Church St) only had a few numbers in stock, I settled for number 2... Paddy Mulligan. Mum sewed it on.

Didn't an away team have to wear that kit at Selhurst because of a kit clash? Possibly Charlton.
My brother had this shirt but I think it fell apart. :( From memory it was rather delicate material.
My first top was the Hummel red and blue sash kit which is sitting in the cupboard behind me as I type.
I've also got the Red and Blue Cup Final shirt with embroided "FA Cup Final Wembley 1990". im a pretty new palace fan, only really got into football last season, so my first kit was the 2004/2005 Palace away kit :P
My first kit was the 1974 red and blue stripes, blue shorts, blue socks with red and white trim. I was 7 years old, and I slept in it that night.
My first away one was from about 1978 I think, yellow with the funny little black bits that came about a third of the way down the sides. The thing was, Spurs used exactly the same kit (it was Adidas), and I couldn't actually buy the Palace one so bought the Spurs version, scratched their badge off and stuck the Palace one on over it.
Can't quite remember now but I think that back in '63-64 season when I first started supporting Palace the team were wearing plain orange tops with white shorts but my mum knitted me a black and white bobble hat to wear to the matches! I'm not sure if you could buy club shirts then. I think that black and white was considered the standard colours for the Palace supporters to wear at that time. I've a feeling that we also wore plain blue tops at times, possibly a second strip. Perhaps someone can put me right. I was only 9 at the time!

As you can see from the attached photo my first Palace kit was a Xmas present in 1967, and probably still my favourite Palace strip of all-time.

Isn't it funny that with those kits you always wanted to have the whole gear right down to the socks. I had a picture of me somewhere in the 70 gear. I must try and find it and post it up. Well done mate !:p

My first kit was... will be a kit I buy on my next visit to London on October 7th. I'm hoping to find last year's kit, or some before that, 'cos I don't like the new all blue kit.
