Following the news that their Icelandic chairman had lost millions in a failed investment, West Ham yesterday announced that they would no longer have a transfer budget for the January transfer window. The American owners of Liverpool announced that they would have to put their stadium plans on hold. Manchester United’s major sponsors AIG were bought by the Federal Reserve while their chairman is building debt year-upon-year. Listening to BBC Radio Five Live, one would assume that this is the first time a football club has been threatened with financial hardship - and that in the case of West Ham, one should perhaps feel sorry for them.

The ignorance is astounding. While the cream of the Premiership bourgeouisie have been courting investment from questionable sources and spending millions of pounds in a vain attempt to reach for the stars, below them, the proletariat of the Football League have toiled and struggled with the financial constraints and difficulty of competing for the prize of promotion.

Stories about bigger, more glamorous clubs sell.
Granted you won't sell a paper based on a story about Liverpool in the shit, but it's more likely than if it were Luton etc.

No doubt mate, but my point is that the way the media have gone about it, they seem to think the situation facing some of the top clubs is a completely unique one - they seem completely oblivious to the fact that it's been affecting the other 72 clubs.

Newspapers are interested in selling newspapers.

Thinking any different is like thinking whores sell love, not sex.

The Glazers don't give a flying about Man- chest -stir, they bought you-night-ted because they realised they could leverage the earning to raise debt to fund the purchase and milk the customers, sorry I mean supporters to service that debt and still line their own pockets.

Say what you like about Abrum-a-bitch but at least he fell in love with football. The Glazers and the scum who bought L'pool haven't got the slightest interest in the sport let alone the club and community.

Football has sold its soul to the devil.
