Perfect 10 from Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=263778).

So, is this the first must-have game of the Christmas period?

Who's getting this?

No, Fallout 3 will be more like Oblivion, in that it's done by the same peeps.

RPG, where the evolution of your character depends on the decisons you make in the game. Starting as a young boy.

You have to learn sword skills, spells etc, puzzle solving, buy / sell collectables, all whilst following the main quest of the game.

Bit like Zelda (orcania of time) for the xbox

Whilst it's an RPG I really don't get the cross reference with Zelda.

For a start it won't have a Japanese feel - it is a very British release with a great line in humour. The voice acting as a rule is superb and doesn't feel as stilted as Zelda can do.

And as far as I can see, with Zelda, you either achieve or you don't - the selling point with Fable has always been the free form development of your character as you grow from a child through to old age - with your decisions impacting on both your look and your interaction on the world around you.

It looks great and it plays rather well too. And whilst it is an RPG it isn't all about numbers and tables - it is probably better outlined as an adventure game. The scope in Fable was quite large - expect Fable II to be bigger still.

Not sure how else to describe it but you should deffo at least rent because it will be, according to it's heritage and current reviews, a very big release for the 360.

agreed probably too much of a generalisation on my behalf, my point being like Zelda is the top RPG for Nintendo, Fable is that for the 360 it's top RPG

Its more Zelda than Oblivion imho.

Fallout 3 should be more Oblivion.

Looking forward to both, its a while since I could be bothered to get 1250 gamer points :D

Quality, and I didn't play the first one.

Graphics aren't the best but the gameplay is deep and very enjoyable. Loads to do, you can buy and rent out houses, buy shops and stalls, get married (more than once!), and then also get divorced if you happen to marry twice in the same town (my mistake on that one), quests are good, storyline is solid and overall considering i didn't play the first its amazing.

Yep, reading through that again I kinda guessed that.

Some of these games are hard to get here for the PC. I have Half Life 2 to play. So I should be looking out for Morrowmind, Oblivion or Far Cry for the PC and ramp up my spec as necessary?

Once I get my wife out working next year, I can work less myself. Then I can get into some serious gaming (and golf).

I may need to order some titles from the UK.

if you have stalls or shops... a good way to earn more money.... disconnect the internet connection from your Xbox 360 and scroll on over to Console Settings > Clock > Change Time And Date

select furthest date you can, ie 2050! Load up Fable again and then you have muchos money

I think the story line is pretty short, but there's so much on the side. I've played well over 10 hours and I've only 1 of the heroes, mainly through exploring everything and picking out as many side quests as possible.

Am I right in thinking even once the storyline is dealt with you can still access everything and carry on playing?

Yes, its a bit weird at the end, you get all the credits etc. and then once it all finishes you go back to the world. To be fair I have completed all but 4 of the sub quests too in that time although I didn't bother too much with the house ownership etc. (I only had two houses). I did get married, have kids and do over half the achievements so I am surprised it was so short. Getting the first hero imho is about half way through with the other two coming fairly quickly after that.

The exact same thing happened to me and it auto saved directly after I whooped the shit out of them! Needless to say I didn't get the achievement for being 100% Good! Bugger!

Finished it on Friday though, I reckon the story can be breezed through fairly quickly but you aren't getting the most out of the game, side missions and jobs, property purchasing, shagging whores etc really needs to be done to fully enjoy the game. Excellent game, well chuffed i decided to buy it and im now looking forward to 3, if there will be a 3 of course.

PalaceMonkey
20-02-2009, 01:44 PM
to bone them, you either need to learn the "come back to my place" expression, or they have to offer you sexytime.

if they lurve you enough, giving them a nice ring will get them to marry you.
or engaged at any rate, then to marry them you need a property too.

Ah, I'm now engaged so have to buy a house to get married, which I want to do.

What is the cheapest house I can acquire in Bowerstone?

Actually I'm not gonna kill her, just make enough money to buy it.

I need to raise another 15,000 though, how could I do that?

Just about to start this. Any DLC worth having from the outset?

Wouldn't say so. IIRC all DLC was very much tacked on at the end .rather than key to the plot from the off.

I'll give it a skip for now then. Some DLC is a bit shit unless it's integrated into the game (mass effect stuff for example, needs to just be part of your first play through).
