Brian Moore - sadly missed on the ITV. He definitely had a soft spot for us.

I was there - I hated the Moaners way back even then.

It was a wonderful game, and I still enjoy it on video. The only thing that hacks me off is, although I was there, I didn't see the fifth goal live. My Dad (who would never have left before the end) was at a wedding, and (and was he p*ssed off!), so a neighbour took me. At 4-0, he insisted on leaving 'to beat the traffic'. I knew then, as I know (even more) now that Palace would never be in this position of domination re United again, but as a 14-year-old, had no power.

This was a truly great day. Thanks for the the film clip James.Paddy Mulligan didn't look much like a footballer should, what with his beer belly and everything, but he could play!.If i'm in Ireland,as i tend to be a lot nowadays, and i don't want to talk about politics/religion/Man Utd/alcohol,then i mention Paddy Mulligan and his part in Palace hammering United in '72,and everyone stops to listen and get nostalgic, because he's always been a hero to football fans in Dublin, and a big hero of mine.It never bothered me that Ron Atkinson said in his autobiography that Paddy was the most horrid person he'd had the misfortune to meet during his 40 odd years in football(!),if anything, that made me like him even more!.Where is he now?.Anyone know?.Aidan?

I agree with you again Johhny a good player despite his looks. A great game which I have mentioned before in the memory lane column. One of the few times I have taken a girl to football , never after that.I remember Bestie was AWOL again.

I was on St. Johns duty at that game and you could see me on telly going nuts when we scored. That was some uniform we used to have to wear, i've never been able to come to terms with the fact that I spent three seasons going to Selhurst wearing a white satchel and black beret http://cpfc.org/ubb/embarass.gif

What a great goal! What Great uniforms and what an even better DAY! If anyone has a tape of that game, could you please make me a copy I will pay for the making of the tape, shipping and anything else involved. This has made my day, a step back down memory lane I normally do not enjoy going back, but this was such a great day, one to always remember. Beating the sh*t out of Moan Utd, almost as good as the birth of my two sons! http://cpfc.org/ubb/supergrin.gif

Great clip - I remember the only time I saw that game was on the way up to Wembley on the coach in 1990.
