Sitting here depressed about the possibility of us leaving Selhurst, and reading the P Taylor scrapbrook, I started thinking of matches I had been to at Selhurst that didnt involve Palace. I dont mean Charlton or Wimbledon games whilst they shared Selhurst, (I have never been to any of those at Selhurst unless they were playing CPFC)or kids matches.
I can only think of a few that I have been to over the years:
England U23s (see P Taylor scrapbook)
Wimbledon v Leeds
FACup replay Orient v Portsmouth (I think)
FACup 3rd place playoff - was it Stoke v Everton?

Have there been any more?

Stop admiting defeat and start getting a grip on yourself. This rubbish about us leaving SP is total nonsense. It is obviously in all parties concerned best interests that the Eagles should remain there or face the possiblies of lossing a lot of money if they were to groundshare elsewhere.

This is another case of the big boys playing the bluffing game just to get ahead.

Archiebald, you mentioned Wimbledon, Charlton and kids games. No mention of pub teams! Conquering Hero v South Norwood Police a few years back. My mate scored in front of the Whitehorse, I sat in my seat in an empty Arthur Wait, and Harry Ringpiece climbed up to the TV gantry (not a good idea considering he was completely smashed) and shouted naughty swear words, then afterwards we got a b*llocking from the groundsman because he said the club weren't insured for people to go in the Arthur that day.

And yes, I agree, get a grip and cheer up Archiebald, Palace will be running out in front of "your" old stand come August!

Evil, I agree with you, It's a bluff - an agreement of a new lease will be made next week.

I seem to remember an England B match at selhurst in the early 80s, can't think of the opposition though - anyone remember ?

There was the Division 3 Play-Off Final replay between Gillingham and Swindon Town at the end of the 86/87 season. It was a Friday night and Swindon won 2-0. The crowd was about 18,000+.
What was the crowd for the Wimbledon v Leeds FA Cup replay in the 70's? Sureley the biggest for a match there not involving Palace.

Selhurst, may i be so bold as to fill in a gap as regards FA Amateur cup semi-finals played at Selhurst. The one you did'nt mention was a replay (at least i think it was) between Walton And Hersham and Highgate round about March/April 1973 the result was a 4-0 victory for the Hersham boys.I was there!Infact Walton may well have included a certain Dave Bassett in their line up,not sure though.
I was also there for the Croydon/Millwall game cheering on Croydon ofcourse!

Does the Allstars XI vs the England 1966 World Cup Squad count?

It was one of those charity matches that we don't seem to get in England much anymore (although I can tell you that they're enormous crowd pullers out here in Italy)...

Anyway, I seem to remember that Bobby Charlton scored a screamer....

Oi Bow, what about Kingsley versus Gilbert Scott in the junior schools cup final? As members of the all-conquering Winterbourne team, we were forced to go and watch that travesty of a game.

We'd beaten Kingsley 4-0 twice that season (one goal was scored straight from a corner by Wilfred Amatang) and we'd been knocked out by Gilbert Scott 5-4 thanks to their cheating sports master-cum-referee. *******!

That cup should have been ours.

I have also played at Selhurst, for Edenham High vs Sylvan High in the Senior School Cup (87-88). We won 3-0, but what struck me was how big the pitch was ! I was shattered doing all that running up and down the wing. Also Sylvan decided the entire school would come to watch, therefore there was a crowd of about 400, with about 390 supporting the other team. I felt then how the Wimbledon players feel now.

I'm sure England played Sweden in an under 18's(I think) match there in 93/94 Chris Bart-Williams is the only player I can remember in the side but we lost 2-0.

Mole, was the game you were thinking about an England Youth game against France at the National Sports Centre? Billy Gilbert and I think Fenwick played in it. I think it was a boring 0-0 draw, I certainly can't remember much about it so it must've been dull. And no, memory loss was not due to alcohol!

Ah Yes, Croydon v Millwall , and I went to the replay , lost in extra time.

I also seem to remember seeing a floodlight cricket game a Selhurst ( Surrey v ? )

Didn't Paul Hinshelwood appear in an England U21 match at Selhurst, c. 1978. I didn't see it but it sounds familiar.

There was certainly a cricket match at Selhurst for Monty Lynch (Surrey Batsman). Palace played Surrey and lost (Not Surprising).

Ian Wright was brilliant, Barber and Pardoe were as good a cricketers as footballers. Biggest Laugh was a Surrey Fast Bowler speeding it up at the end.

And I'm pretty sure there was a pop concert at Selhurst too, can't remember who, was it a soul band?

PJ

I didn't see it, but I recall the concert involved those epitomes of eighties musical mediocrity The Thompson Twins.

In the seventies there was tradition for the winners of the Youth Cup to get to play England U-23's at home the following season.

I think this is the game (in late 1977) that you remember mole, Sansom played for England rather than Palace. Although we retained the cup the following year, the fixture was not repeated.

And It's a Knockout was held at SP. I think that it was on same day that England won 4-1 in Finland in a World Cup qualifier (would have been early to mid 1970's).

I did attend the England Under 23 games at SP in which Peter Taylor always seemed to score in the mid 1970's.
