Having nearly got promoted there is something up at MK, the players are leaving in droves, the club now has just 13 players on the books and 3 of them are teenagers.
Something doesn't seem right at MK Dons.

If you believe everything that is written on wiki, Uncle Ron first thought of moving Wimbledon to Milton Keynes in 1979.

Quote
The pre-history of Milton Keynes Dons began in 1979 when Ron Noades, the chairman of Wimbledon, entered talks with the Milton Keynes Development Corporation about the possibility of moving Wimbledon to Milton Keynes.[4] At this time Noades purchased Milton Keynes City, and Wimbledon's directors became directors of Milton Keynes City also. The idea was subsequently abandoned and Milton Keynes City was sold on.

I went to a couple of Wimbledon away matches around that time (not as a Wombles fan, but 'doing the 92 League Grounds' - I travelled to Halifax and Hereford with them) - the WFC fans were up in arms about it - and 'Noades Out' was their main chant at these games.

Of course, 'Plan B' for Noades and the Wimbledon directors - was to merge Wimbledon and Palace into one club (this is actually well documented elsewhere) which was blocked by the League and became the reason why no Chairman or Director could have more than a 51% shareholding in more than one club at a time (which Noades effectively had when he took over Palace in Dec 1980).

That's how I read it as well, which I have to say I find bizarre. Though it would not be a very long list, they had so few fans. Which after all is one of the reasons they moved to MK.

Say what you like about franchise / relocation, in business terms it made sense. No ground, no fans and too many other teams nearby. As much as I hate to say it there are far too many football teams in this country and I would not be surprised if there are more re-locations and even mergers in the future.

Wishful thinking by some on here.

They have sold some players and are in the process of signing replacements. As usual Premium are taking time to update the site.

Season tickets going well.

I'd rather regularly go to a ground that is within easy walking distance of railway stations and a great selection of pubs then go to a ground in the middle of a retail park where the only place to get a drink is Ikea.

The Isle of Man could probably provide 5,000 fans a week to a football team, no higher than League 1/2 IMO.

Ooo that's a suprise tbh, maybe he thinks he won't have to serve that 5 match touchline ban and pay that fine ;)

Edit - Just read the article and saw he is going to leave at the end of the season, even though i was joking with the above comment it's now irrelevant lol.

Why was the ban so long and his fine so big?

You never felt Ince was totally connected with us even when he was successful and this year he has been distant to say the least.

Another strange day at MK Dons

They have appointed Dieter Hamann as player coach!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/milton_keynes_dons/8694849.stm

MK Dons sign Dietmar Hamann as player-coach

MK Dons have signed former Liverpool and Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann on a one-year contract.

The 36-year-old, who has not played a professional game since leaving Manchester City last July, will become a player-coach at Stadium MK.

Dons boss Karl Robinson worked as a youth coach at Anfield while Hamann was a player there.

He made 191 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and won the Champions League with them in 2005.

At international level, Hamann won 59 caps for Germany and was part of the 1998 and 2002 World Cup squads, as well as the European Championships in 2000 and 2004.

Following his success in the World Cup in France in 1998, he made his move to the Premier League from Bayern Munich and joined Newcastle United for £5.5m, scoring five goals in 31 appearances.

Hamann then joined Liverpool, making 282 appearances in seven years and helping Rafa Benitez's side clinch the Champions League.

After a very brief spell at Bolton in 2006, he moved to Manchester City for £400,000 and spent three years at Eastlands before being released last summer.

If he's fit I'm sure he has the touch/brain to compete for them. Always seemed intelligent enough to be a coach. Hessenthaler did similar didn't he?

Agree to an extent, another example being Bristol Rovers doing it for the last few years with Lennie and Trollope.

However, neither club has enjoyed huge success have they?

I don't think he could, at all.

However, I think this is a cracking move by MK (may they rot in hell). Hamann always seemed to have a bit of nouse about him and I would imagine he'll be in charge there before too long.
