Does anyone remember John Budden, who played a handful of first team games in the earlie nineties before going off to Scotland and retiring from football early.
Just hes a teacher at my school now, teaches english. i had a nice chat with him about Palace the other day.

I thought Steve Coppell advised him to go to uni, and then when he finished he would sign him for Palace. From what I recall he never made it to the first team, but then I may be mistaken.

Don't think John ever played for the first team (friendlies excepted?).I saw him playing at left back a few times in the youth and reserve teams and thought he looked quite a good player. As you say next_Mat_Jansen he went on to play in Scotland for St Johnstone? Did he ever make their first team?

I went to his testimonial at Dover Athletic a couple of years ago. He is, indeed, a nice guy.
There's a match report of the game somewhere on Palace Echo site.
