Ok so I wasn't there for the thrashing against Liverpool (9-0 I think but can be corrected!) But I was there for the 6-1 against Liverpool first game of the season a few years later......and that Macmanaman run and goal still haunts me!

Yes, I think we knew the season would be long and hard. I remember being quite excited when we signed Wilkins, but how long did he last before breaking his foot? Not long. Remember Pitcher's howler for the first goal? We'd only just signed the Charlton prick.
Yes that 6-1 debicle to Liverpool was awful. I think my worst ever thrashing was 6-2 at ch@lsea in a midweek game in the premiership last time. We even took the lead in the game although in the end Coppell was getting loads of stick which made him resign.
Another depressing part of that evening was seeing all these ch@lsea scum fans getting the train back to east croydon, they all pretend that they're watching their local side.

Armstrong scored our 1 against Liverpool I think - right?
Wilkins went off in that game yes!! What a great career he had with us!

How about the other side of the coin?
6-nil v. Birmingham (away) tonking and 7-nil at home v. Stockport come to mind...

That Birmingham game was great. First thing monday morning I rang up Birmingham to order the video! I know they were pants, but we were on the way up after years in the 80s doldrums. I remember coming out of there amongst them trying so hard not to giggle and look thoroughly disgusted. Impossible.

Meaningless game, but nevertheless a good old fashioned thrashing - 8-0 vs Southend(???), at least I think it was them? Wrighty got 3, so did Brighty, and I think even Glyn Hodges bagged one. Can't remember the other scorer - Answers on a postcard. Not particularly memorable, but at least we weren't on the receiving end this time!
