View Full Version : Alassane N'Diaye offered Palace deal

CRYSTAL Palace midfielder Alassane N'Diaye has been handed a three-year deal by the Eagles.

The powerful French midfielder made his debut for the club in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Plymouth - getting the nod ahead of Nick Carle to start at Selhurst Park.

And Warnock confirmed afterwards that more is to come from N'Diaye, who had a trial with Celtic before arriving in SE25 last summer.

"I thought he was super today and I gave him a three-year contract yesterday so that he could go out there and relax," said the Palace boss.

"He just wants to play football. Clint Hill and Shaun Derry kick him up in training but he gets up and goes for the next ball. You don't get many like that and it's why I've given him a deal - he's a breath of fresh air.

"I see him as an integral part, otherwise I wouldn't have offered him what I did. You haven't seen the best of him yet - he can go past people a lot more than he did and has got a trick up his sleeve. There's a lot more to come from him."

played very very well. looked like a seasoned pro. tried some silly flick in the 2nd half that i would try, apart from that he made some great tackles, put a great cross in the 2nd half

very impressed, we've cried out for a player like this for a long long time

quite an exciting prospect from my first viewing. first half it seemed like he was asked to play behind john/lee not the easiest of positions and in truth it didnt seem to suit him much and he looked slightly lost. second half when danns went off and we scored he seemed to grow in stature, one powerful run in particular was very impressive and 2 very decent crosses.

Very exciting debut. His ability to play across the pitch could be key - he could be a nuisance playing as a target man, and, if Danns/Ambrose/Carle all play well, he could oust Derry from midfield.

Teenager Alassane N'Diaye has been offered a three-year contract by Crystal Palace.

The young Frenchman was given a surprise debut against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday having ended pre-season as the Eagles top scorer and played the full 90 minutes in midfield alongside Shaun Derry and Neil Danns

Having been offered his first professional deal over the summer, N'Diaye has impressed Warnock so much the Yorkshireman has moved to tie him down for the long-term.

"I gave him a three-year contract on Friday and told him that before he plays a game for us so he can relax," said the Palace manager.

"What I love about him is that I just love looking at him, he's such a happy man.

"He just makes me feel good and he can play so what a good combination.

"He just wants to play football.

"Clint Hill kicks him up and down in training but he gets up and goes for the next one.

"You don't get many of them around so that's why I am giving him a theee-year deal, he's a breath of fresh air.

"I see him playing a considerable part this season, I wouldn't have offered him that if I hadn't thought that.

"He gives us something else as well, he takes a bit of pressure off other people and you haven't seen the best of him yet.

"He can go past people a lot more than he did on Saturday and he's got a trick up his sleeve so there's a lot more to come from him.

"It's good to get his debut out of the way and the lads gave him a round of applause in the dressing room."

I am pretty sure he wouldn't have played if he hadn't agreed or indicated he would sign it.
You have to remember, that he is being offered 3 years of employment at a wage far higher than he is/was currently on. I am sure most 18 year olds would jump at the chance, only those who are deluded refuse at such a young age and think they can go elsewhere and be an instant hit.

He is some physical specimen. Derry will find a lot easier with this guy in front of him. What interested me was that he he won a lot of Speroni's goal kicks tonight and found our men with the ball. At Brentford I thought he was a big ungainly lump but now I can see there is a bit more to him than that. Could easily take on cult status

I don't like to be negative, but this guy has been largely anonymous in the 4 games I've seen him play (Brentord, Bromley, Plymouth and Torquay last night). He has started brightly but felt in the 2 'proper' games at least that Derry and Danns were carrying him and he looked out of his depth (out of position, not tracking markers, losing possession etc). I accept that its a breath of fresh air to have a complete unknown go straight into the first team and I hope in years to come his will do the business in the red & blue, I just feel there is far too much hype surrounding him (talk of prem clubs and the like). I think it would be criminal to play him instead of Nicky Carle who is probably our most creative player (maybe with the exception of Moses now he has discovered crossing the ball!), especially now we have a player like Sears who has the ability to run into the channels and create space for Carle to provide for him, which is the main reason why I think Carle had a poor year last season. I don't think its coincidence that Carle hit some form last year the same time Beattie was playing up top for us.

Anyway rant over, am I the only one who thinks its all a bit too much, too soon for N'Diaye?

You might be.

Yes he's erratic, occasionally showing excellent control and at other times having the ball bounce off him in all sorts of directions - yes, his positional sense is lacking (although it seems to me that Warnock has given him license to roam) - but to talk of him being anonymous is well wide of the mark, IMHO.

In the two games I have seen him play (Plymouth and Torquay) I would hazard a guess that he covered more ground than any other player on our side.

He's been everywhere, shows no fear, willing to have a go, attacks, tackles back, wins headers, distributes well.

Which I guess is why NW said the players applauded him into the dressing room on Saturday.

He has a huge way to go but to say he was anonymous then or against Torquay is strange. You can say he needs to sharpen up his finishing (over the bar from 6 yards three times already), you can say his first touch could be better, you can say that he may need to do the simple thing a little more, but to say he was anonymous makes no sense - I wouldn't be surprise if he had more touches than anybody, he was all over the place.

You asked if it was too much too soon - depends what you want. To get the performance of a seasoned pro, yes, to expect composure, balance and level of consistency, yes, there are plenty of things it is too soon for. He is ungainly, doesn't seem fully in control of his 6'4" yet. But the guy is an 18 year old 2 games out of the Academy - if he's given the chance he is a major prospect. If we expect perfection he will most certainly disappoint. Try taking him for what he is now, not what he copuld be one day and they were two pretty impressive performances.

LMAO :D

When he scores get it on! FANTASTIC news to pen him to a contract, like a big summer signing certainly as much as we could hope for in that respect anyhow.

Does this mean the transfer embargo has now been lifted?

Massive potential, like Moses, Scannell, Hills and various others. But I think its likely we will overhype him and then hammer him when he doesnt deliver. Watching him against Torquay made me question if he might not start on Saturday.

On topic - he was already under contract to us when the 3 year (improved) deal was offered. Embargos don't affect existing players.

It's not a transfer - just a pro contract for a lad from the Academy.

To explain who he was like to a QPR supporting friend I thought imagine Leigertwood is version 1 then N'Diaye is Version 4.

In the two games I have seen him play (Plymouth and Torquay) I would hazard a guess that he covered more ground than any other player on our side.

I was really impressed with the amount of ground that he covered last Saturday - he has a terrific engine on him!:p

Crystal Palace FC can officially confirm that Alassane N'Diaye has signed a three year professional contract.

N'Diaye was picked up by Palace as a free agent at the beginning of last season and given a trial in the Academy.

He soon started doing well in the Under 18s set-up and moved on to the Reserves, where he again established himself as a regular in the starting line up.

He has now gone on to make two professional starts, first against Plymouth in the first game of the season and then against Torquay in the first round of the Carling Cup.

Speaking in his official blog on www.cpfc.co.uk, Palace assistant manager, Mick Jones revealed that N'Diaye has impressed everyone in his first two appearances:

"He has started to look the part now. He is a very fit young man and is always up with the pace of the game. He put in a terrific cross in from near the corner flag, his work rate was excellent and his use of the ball was excellent."

"After Saturday I think he has every right to hold down a first team spot. We have to be wary though because it might catch up on him as he is only 18 and it usually catches up, so there might be a time when we have to take him out."

"But because of his physique, his pace and his strength he is totally different to any other player at the club and, at the moment he is looking like a very good addition and he could be a big plus to us this season."

You can read Mick Jones' Blog every Tuesday exclusively on www.cpfc.co.uk

This idea was floated by brother on the holmesdale site and apparently it has alreadty been sung at Norwich but this would be an awesome chant for N'Diaye:

NNNNNNNNNNNNNN'DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAYE WIIILL ALWAAAAAAYS LOOOOOOOVE YOOOOOOOOOOOOU-OOOOOOOOOOOOU
(To the tune of 'I Will Always Love You' By Whitney Houston)

Lets get this going tonight if he plays!

I'm proud to say my brothers chant must have taken off as the BBC has recognised it as one of the chants of the week on their regular sports quotes of the week section of their website (well done Liam!):

Best bit in that is

"You only win when you're cheating!"
Cardiff City fans to Bristol City fans while leading 3-0, referring to the goal that never was against Crystal Palace. (Dan Miller, UK).
