Squad for the friendly against Slovenia and the WCQ against Croatia:
Goalkeepers: Foster (Manchester United), Green (West Ham), Robinson (Blackburn)
Defenders: Johnson (Liverpool), Brown (Manchester United), Upson (West Ham), Terry (Chelsea, capt), Lescott (Manchester City), A Cole (Chelsea), Bridge (Manchester City)
Midfielders: Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Lennon (Tottenham), Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy), Barry (Manchester City), Lampard (Chelsea), Carrick (Manchester United), Gerrard (Liverpool), A Young (Aston Villa), Milner (Aston Villa)
Strikers: Rooney (Manchester United), Heskey (Aston Villa), Defoe (Tottenham), C Cole (West Ham), Crouch (Tottenham).
Im off to the Croatia game, cant be arsed with the Slovenia friendly will watch that on tv. After crashing out of the European Championships against Croatia can England come around full circle and gain revenge for that by qualifying when they play Croatia on the 9th.

I was just going to post that. Its absolutely ludicrous, the president of the Croatian FA shouldnt be allowed to get away with remarks like that. Injuries happen no matter if it is before an important WC Qualifier, to suggest that English player deliberately injured Modric so he could miss the qualifier is simply outrageous.

We should recall our ambassador to Croatia and freeze diplomatic relations.

Oh dears highlighted in bold.
I pray Green is between the sticks, it baffles me that players like Foster who are clearly mediocre at best still get into the squad because they play for Man Ure. A couple of decentish games doesn't change that fact.
As for Crouch how many times has he started for Spuds this year? For me someone should only be getting into their national team if they are starting reguarly for their club side.

It's also interesting how the dynamic of the team has changed recently in terms of the clubs the England players come from:
Man City 4
Man U 4
Spurs 3
Villa 3
Chelsea 3
West Ham 3
Liverpool 2
Blackburn 1
LA Galaxy 1

Do we normally play friendlies this close to a competitive qualifier? I can't remeber.
Won't be a positive if we pick up any injuries.

How can an injury to any England player be a positive? :clown:

The Slovenia game seems pointless in regards to possible injuries.
Hopefully England can give it everything in all the remaining group games, then carry it through to next years finals.

You make Wright-Phillips an 'oh dear'?
I thought he was the best player I've seen at Selhurst in years. Though tbh that's not really saying much. :D

Won't be a positive if we pick up any injuries. This time last year we played a double header of qualifiers v Andorra and Croatia away. But I'm sure we've played a combo of a friendly and a qualifier before. Think Fabio won't play a full side v Slovenia. Reckon the likes of Carlton Cole, Milner and Young will get another run out. The Defoe-Rooney partnership upfront looks mouthwatering. I think he'll save that for Croatia.

I share your view on Foster, but, tbh none of the 3 goalkeepers are really that good. I disagree on Crouch as I think he offers something very different and has an excellent scoring record for England.
Wayne Bridge is a joke, but, then again there aren't too many good English LB's that come to mind.

Think Foster has potential to be better than Green. He looks more commanding, but thats just an opinion. Agree 100% on Bridge. Was saying I thought he was horribly overrated the other day and a Chelsea fan I play cricket with told me I was talking out of my hat. I did hold that opinion before our cup game with Man City and saw nothing to alter my view. I hope Clyne will take the job off him in time and fight it out with Ashley Cole

Is the Croatia game going to be televised? Now Setanta have gone bust who owns the rights to the game?
Ps. Johnson and Lescott's defending for the Slovenia goal was comical.

He's a RB and i cant see Clint Hill getting a run out for England.
Lets hope green doesnt handle yards outside his box. Another England penalty for no reason wouldnt go amiss though.

Really doesn't mean anything how they performed against Slovenia. Everyone knew it was going to be a rather un-competitive game with the England players keen on avoiding injury.
Expect we will see the real England and Capello's real team on Wednesday night.

I agree...
I like Foster as a keeper. He's just been injured a fair bit and it's doing him no good being second fiddle at United.
Saying that I'd rather have Green over James come next year!
