Of all the names touted for purchase, Ostenstad seems the best value for money.
He was a major star for Southampton and had a pretty good scoring ratio.

Agreed, Ostenstad would be worth consideration. If he's between 1 - 1.5 million then i would definitely have a look at him. He's the sort of player we need and in the past he's scored goals - mind you in the past Clinton Morrison USED to score goals.

ostenstad was a good striker but palace need to supply the strikers we have got before slagging them off

I showed this Topic to a Saints supporting mate and he suggests I inform you of the fact that he never recalls Egil winning a header let alone score from one.
What we need is someone on the end of the crosses and can hold the ball up.
Ostenstad is not IMHO the answer.

I would'nt mind Andy Booth but please not Dyer again the frustration of watching him try to understand the offside rule is too much too take

Is this the Andy Booth currently setting the world alight at Sheffield Wednesday?

Ostenstad is on a Bosman this summer. With Clinton probably certain to go and Blackburn unlikely to offer him a new contract should we try and get him?

Inflated wages and I don't think he's that good. He managed to make as big an impression as Kevin Davies did at Ewood Park. So no thanks

How old is he now anyway?

From Sky Sports

Un-named First Division Clubs makes enquiry to Blackburn regarding Egil Ostenstad.

As Palace are likely to be after another stiker following Adebola's misguided greed could this be an enquiry drom TF and co?

He's class, Ive always been a fan. I hope it is us.

If Adebola thinks we're not offering enough dosh, I can't see Ostenstad being able to agree terms. Unless it's a loan we're after?

Would prefer him to adebola - although dele on a free would be decent business!

he was a donkey at Blackburn, he didn't play much for them in the first division, Mark Hughes got in ahead of him. That might tell you something about him

Never rated Ostenstad that highly, rather we sign someone younger presumably on lesser wages from the lower divisions with hunger to get to the top.

NO!

He's the sort of donkey you would expect Brighton to sign!

norwegian ceefax says palace have tried to sign ostenstad on a months loan. it doesnt say whether it will happen, but quotes ostenstad saying he is looking for something more permanent.

Andy Booth? Better off with Connie Booth! :grrr:

Would not be a good signing for us - don't need anymore forwards, need people to provide service to the strikers we have.

yes please, a little bit of egil would be fantastic, anyway if he was only on loan we would get a good chance to have a look at him before we signed him permanently. from what i remember of him from his southampton days, he always seemed quite good!

Palace try to get Ostenstad on loan (http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=102975&clid=&cpid=10&Title=Palace+mystery+Egil+bidders)

Doesn't sound interested - don't want him. Never rated him that highly either.

We can pick and chose - Crystal Palace should be one of the most attractive options for Nationwide footballers at the moment, with a (relatively) stable financial background, and a not-unrealistic chance of promotion to the Premiership. I'd rather we got players who seemed genuinely excited about the chance of playing for Palace - not Premiership failures who are gutted they aren't first choice for Blackburn. Look at how well Butterfield has played, and fitted in - because he wants it. I'd rather stick with what we've got, and give Kabba his opportunity.

After watching my first footy game on english soil for 18months verses Preston, my feeling is that we just lack anyone with any real passing ability in the middle of the pitch.I think Kabba will relsih the chance to show what he is capable of and should be given a chance upfront until AJ is fit. Derry in the middle field looked a good anchor man and finally soemone who can tackle. Mullins needs to eat his greens or something as every pass he made was about 5 yeards short!! :(

Ostenstad had wanted a transfer to norway but it didn't happen and he doesn't want a 1 month loan deal to Palace. Perhaps a few more months of playing reserve football will change his attitude.:sob:

I can't say I rate him much either. Doesn't interest me in the slightest, and any footballer who would rather not play than play any games at all - must surely need his head examined in the current financial climate.

I would rather play Gareth Williams, although we do still need to bring in another striker.

AJ is supposed to be back tonight, if not Saturday. Bit of a short run for poor old Kabba! Still I agree, give him a chance.
