Part I is getting a bit long now, so here is Part II.
I'll try and find all the requested goals. In the meantime here are a couple of classics. First up is the Alan Whittle goal against Manchester United in the 5-0 win in December 1972:
http://www.c-palace.demon.co.uk/mpg/manu72_1.mpg
Another memorable goal for the veteran fans - Don Rogers first ever goal for Palace against Everton in 1972:
http://www.c-palace.demon.co.uk/mpg/evtn72dr.mpg
Bringing proceedings a little more up to date, here is Ian Wright's winner against Blackburn in the 1989 Play Off Final:
http://www.h-call-nottm.demon.co.uk/mpg/bbrn89_em.mpg
... and finally, who could forget the Hopkin winner at Wembley in the last minute. This is a clip showing the goal twice, from behind the goal (which is the view I got on the day):
http://www.h-call-nottm.demon.co.uk/mpg/pof3.mpg
The two Ian Wright Cup Final Goals will be uploaded later tonight here:
http://www.rushmere.demon.co.uk/mpgold/facf_2.mpg
and
http://www.rushmere.demon.co.uk/mpgold/facf_3.mpg
... and that really is all for tonight.

Top movie pics!! Thank you. They bring a shiver down my spine.
This may sound greedy, but are anymore planned?

Yes, I am happy to keep preparing archive clips - but the process does take time, and I had a bit of spare time yesterday!
If you would like to nominate the goal clips you would most like to see, I'll do my best to find the goals. I have nothing pre-1970 alas, and the much requested Jim Cannon goal against Ipswich (which helped put Palace on top of the old Division One in 1979/1980) is not in my video collection.
I have the Zeneth Data Cup goals, all the Play Off Goals (from each Play Off), the John Salako 50 yarder at Forest in the Cup, and the majority of Ian Wright and Mark Bright League goals. Any interest in those?
If you want to see a particular goal, unless it is a very well known one it would help me if you could specify the date (and failing that the year only) and whether it was a League or Cup goal.

It is a hard decision to choose my favourite palace goal, but Mark Brights winner in the 4-3 win against Millwall (1989 I think) is pretty special to me.
Many thanks James

I've already done the Mark Bright winner against Millwall. See Part I of this thread! It was October 1989. Here is Bright's winner:

James good effort so far, here's one to test you. The goal from the 1-0 at home to Derby in 1986-87. It was my first game and I'd like to see that goal again. Nice one!

I know this is doubtful but do you have Kenny Sansoms goal against Middlesborough in the League Cup in 1979 I think it was or 1978.

Yes, I did that one just before dumping my old capture card (which was not working properly - so the mpg is a bit washed out).
Good goal, and absolutely vital.

James, could you see if you could put up Dean Gordon's goal in the last minute to equalise against Derby down the Whitehorse End. I was sitting right in line with that shot behind the goal and have never seen the ball hit so hard.Remember scholes goal they were all raving about last season, Deano's wipes the floor with it.

James, is it allowed to put any of these mpgs on our own web-sites?
If not no problem - thanks for making the clips available to us anyway, it is very much appreciated!

I don't have any problems with the clips going on any other web Site. I make no claim to copyright (although I did encode them). You should however acknowledge the copyright of the Club, the Football League (or the Premiere League as the case may be) and SKY, BBC and ITV as appropriate.
Actually, it's nice to be asked. Most Webmasters use the clips without letting me know!

James,
I have a few "rare/unusual/interesting" goals I would like to put up on the Palace Echo site which are taken from copies of match videos from mid-late 80's which have not featured on official Club vid's etc.
However, I don't have the means to encode them at present. Can you give me some clue as to the hard/software required (& costs) and minimum spec of equipment I need to achieve this, please? I fear my wallet/equipment may not be up to job (oo-er missus).
Also have you got the goals from Sheff U 5-1 in 72 as someone seems to think here?

Also a more general appeal ... did anyone save the goals from the Beijing game last year?
They were put up on a chinese website and were mentioned on CP-FRIS & the BBS, but I was away on hols at the time and didn't get the chance to download them before they disappeared - I love a copy of the file(s), if anyone can help?

Neil - I can help on two counts ! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Yup - I have the Chinese goals from last season's games in China .. maybe we can find this year's somewhere as well ?
Send me a mail/PM or whatever and we'll sort that one out.
As for video capture on a PC - well I think the cheapest (and best) way to sort that out is to get a Voodoo 3500 graphics card, now down to about 130 notes if you shop around.
Not only will it do that - but you'll also get a card that has a tv tuner on board, and the ability to run opengl/3dfx games.
If that's too steep - let me know and I might be able to get a cheaper capture card off a mate.

On the subject of Video Capture generally, I was going to ask whether anyone else would like to take over (or at least help me) in preparing mpg clips of goals for Tony Dudley and the BBS next Season.
When I started producing goal clips (in 1996) the cheapest capture cards were about £1,000 and very hard to use. These days, as Alan says, they are much cheaper and both Ati and Voodoo produce 'All in One' cards, which fit into your AGP slot, and produce excellent 3d graphics, with a capture facility.
Alternatively, even one of the cheap Hauppage cards (approx £50) will work with analogue video.
You would need some editing software, and conversion software (avi to mpg), but I can help with this.
If anyone is interested, please send me an E-Mail.

James - any chance of getting clips of the three goals Palace scored against Bolton at Selhurst in the league in the '79/80 season? I think Hilaire scored one and Gilbert another. I'm not sure about the third but I remember them all being good goals...Gilbert's from about 30-35 yards out..

Don's goal from '72 reminded me what an important player John Craven was!
Yogi against Sheff Utd (didn't he get two) would be great!! I was at my sisters school play (Midsummer Nights Dream-Haling Manor) that night and I remember sneaking into one of the classrooms to watch the 5-1 demolition on Match of the Day. Great Days!!!

James,I sent John Sewell (who now lives in the U.S) a copy of his famous goal against Leeds via e-mail-he hadn't seen it for years and was thrilled to see it again. He says that it brought back many happy memories for him,and that he still keeps in touch with whats happening at Palace via CPFRIS and sattelite TV.
So thanks for all your hard work James,it is much appreciated and by more people than you probably think.
Eagle El,I agree with you 100% about the late John Craven,he was a fine player, and I always thought that we sold him too early,as he went to Coventry and had a couple of good seasons in division one(old)while we got relegated to division 3.He was a great passer of the ball, and he also banged in some very important goals for us.

Oh Dean, you haven't lived matey, that goal is an absolute CLASSIC.
Reminds me of the old Wonderwall parody about that match, sung in the Holmesdale upper for a couple of games afterwards ...
"And all the runs that georgie made were winding
And all the goals that georgie scored were blinding,
(can't remember the next lines http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif)
So Millwall,
Yer keeper couldn't catch F**k all
And after all,
We really stuffed Millwall"

This is soo great James. When will the "Ultimate Collection" hit the shops. Seriously, wouldn“t it be a great idea for the "new" Palace to release a historic, best of the best kind of video, including the first ever filmed Palace goal etc.etc.? I would certainly by it.

Well as a start if you don't already have it - make sure you get the excellent "250 Palace goals" video - still available from the club shop.
It includes goals from the 80's and most of the season's from the 90's too.
