I seem to recall a punch up between Andy Gray and Marco Gabbiadini, that led to both leaving the club.
What was the feud about?

I guess it was something to do with Gabby stealing the ball off Andy Gray's foot when he was about to shoot! a la Marky Bright.

When did this scuffle occur?

I think you have got the wrong players; Marco and Andy were great friends,I also believe they were best man at each other's weddings.
I believe you may have them confused with Ron Noades and Terry Venables.

No i haven't heard anything about this. I think Coppell and Gray had abit of a falling out thats why Gray left for Tottenham.

I think you will find something about this in the excellent book 'We All Follow The Palace".

There was a huge falling out, I recall Alan Smith saying that Gray made Gabbiadini's life at Palace a nightmare, constantly slagging him off as the worst player he had ever seen.
Apparantly by the end of Gray's time at Palace he would train in a sheepskin coat just in case there was any doubt that he didn't want to be there anymore.

James what was that story that was pieced together concerning Gray and a load of England track suits that went missing?
Great player, one of my all time favourites!

2 weeks after Gray's one and only England game 16 England Tracksuits were on sale on a Mitcham market stall!!

I take it he won't be joining the coaching staff then?

I doubt it, as he is now a partner of Ian Wrights in his Players agency.

Was this not all part of another press stitch up. Was Nodes not
quoted as saying that black players could not get through a british winter. This whole sorry state of affairs, by this I mean the destruction of our best ever team came about due to that sl#g Jimmy Hill. Remember his comments about Andy Gray and Geoff Thomas after they played for England. The truth was, CPFC were about to become very big and certain baffons did not like it. This is why they kept us out of Europe. Ban stupid commentators and stop buying shi##y gutter papers.
Don't fuel the fire and things like this may not happen.
And now I shall get of my soap box and return to cleaning the house.

I remember a spell when Gray would never pass to McGoldrick.

I always liked Gray, but as a individual off the pitch not a nice character. His ticket scams on the black market which ws exposed in 97’ highlighted this. As Coppell once back in 91’ Gray did and will play his best football for CPFC. Shame about his rather acrimonious departure though.
Results were going against us, and there were even calls for Coppells head. SC questioned Grays attitude, and rather than seeing it as a kick up the back side Gray took it quite the opposite as in he thought he was no longer wanted at the club.

I remember hearing Noades saying a couple of years back that Gray was the only black player to stand by him during these allegations.
Yet the media seized on this, and in particular Harry Harris cut Palace down to shreds.
At the time Palace were a big team, but unfashionable and the football played wasn’t appreciated within certain head quarters of the media. coincided with Wrighty leaving just two weeks late on that miserable Monday evening. The recognition Palace got, through what had been achieved, was minimal compared to many other average first division outfits

I interviewed Andy Gray once - a strange event all round. He did admit to not liking Gabbiadini.
Apparently Marco's clothes peg was next to Andy's in the dressing room. After the first training session together, Marco tried to strike up conversation, which, according to Gray, amounted to little more than talking about what kind of bitter he could expect to find down south.
Gray was appalled at this blatant Northernism and more or less refused to have anything to do with him from then on.
