Yes, but semi retired means I can concentrate on my poetic skills.

I'm going to risk a law suit and post my Mazikins poem.

Ode to Mazling

I find Maz somewhat an enigma
If your grammar is wrong, he'll correct ya,
He knows about this, he knows about that,
But what do we know about Matt?

We know that he rides a black beast ,
And that he likes all cyclists the least,
He drinks coffee all day, but rarely has tea
And his hobnobs are his luxury.

His opinions are viewed by some
As arrogant and sometimes, just dumb
But he expresses them freely, and quite rightly so
'Cos he's an eloquent and jolly nice fellow

So here endeth my ode to the Mazling
Even though I still find him quite puzzling
He wears leathers, a beard and is really quite lofty,
But deep down inside, he's just a big softie.

:D

You're next on my list Ant ;)

Anyway, he calls me Babs so I think it only fair.

Barbara4003
18-09-2009, 06:54 PM
The amount of different nationalities, for a start. It was quite fascinating. Whole families of them, some in tribal type dress

While we were sitting outside in the sunshine having a coffee, 5 different people came over, sat down and started chatting to us.

Not one of them was English. So we were chatting to them about what they were hoping to see while they were over here and they all said how they were looking forward to going to London. Then a couple of them started mentioning places I didn't even knew existed :D

cpfcfan1
18-09-2009, 07:03 PM
Did you say anything about Crystal Palace?

Barbara4003
18-09-2009, 07:07 PM
Haha - no. They'd have probably thought I was talking about another royal residence or something.

They have a London shop at Heathrow and we went in there, and they sell loads of stuff to do with Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool. So I asked the assistant if they had any Palace stuff. He didn't even understand what I was saying, let alone know who Palace were.

cpfcfan1

Cricket season has finished today. I will be watching no more cricket live till May 2010.

The football season is waay too long and the cricket season too short :(

I'm home alone (with 2 kids (one of whom is still awake!) and a puppy who's decided he wants to chew everything and also challenge my alpha dog status). Wife's gone to a wedding.

Cricket isn't a sport it's much much more than that. Total way of life. If you were brought up on a cricket boundary, and scoring and making the teas, it gets into your bloodstream and takes you over.

It was a fab night but dear god it was hard work catering! For 60 people we did the following menu

Mozzarella and Beef tomato and basil
Brie and Bacon and Cranberry
Smoked Salmon on a bed of rocket with a slice of hard boiled egg

Roast Beef
Roast Lamb with Rosemary and Garlic
Lemon and Garlic chicken

Garlic and Herb new potatoes
Wilted spinach with baby tomatoes
Baby carrots
Green Beans

Meringue nests with strawberries and a choclate sauce
Chocolate Mousse

Coffee and petits fours.

Just Angie and I doing all the catering and we had to set up the room and lay the tables and decorate the room.

And then serve the dinner and clear the plates!

I was f-ing pooped but I was runner-up for clubman of the year award for my work on colts development and getting ECB accreditation. (award went to the treasurer who to be fair has saved us from exctinction this year)

To go, or not to go,
That is the question
Whether Ant should go to a game
Thus bringing us shame

Whether tis nobler for him to stay at home
Or attend, and hear us all moan.
For no luck doth he bring
Nor maketh us sing

So no more shall we sayeth
Where art thou, Ant Palace?
For we'll know he's in Ifield
When a win is doth sealed.

Not long been back from my sister's in the New Forest. We had a lovely weekend. Spent 2 hours in Bradbeers (Departmental store) in New Milton on Saturday. Drove the saleslady mad trying on half the shop!
Had a lovely drive back this afternoon, saw loads of cars with bicycles tied to the back of them :D The Forest looks lovely at this time of year, there were people paddling in the stream next to Balmer Lawn, not far from Brockenhurst.
Also loads of really old cars - a Ford Zodiac, an old Rolls Royce and some really quaint little cars. Perhaps they had been to the Boat show in Southampton - I got stuck in the traffic there for quite a while.
Hope it's just as nice fro your bike ride on 10th :p
